Abstract

This study aimed to determine the gross motor skills of children aged 5–6 years before and after engaging in traditional play activities at TK Kemala Bhayangkari 20, Pangkep Branch. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed. The population of this study consisted of all students at TK Kemala Bhayangkari 20, Pangkep Branch, totaling 61 children. Purposive sampling was used to select 20 children, who were divided into two groups: 10 children in the experimental group and 10 children in the control group. Data were collected through observation and performance tests, while data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and non-parametric tests. The results showed that the implementation of traditional games significantly contributed to the improvement of children’s gross motor skills, particularly in aspects of balance, agility, and coordination. The findings indicated that: (1) children in the experimental group were initially categorized as “Not Yet Able” before the intervention and improved to the “Very Able” category after the intervention; (2) children in the control group were initially categorized as “Not Yet Able,” and after participating in seesaw play activities, they showed only a slight improvement, placing them in the “Fairly Able” category; and (3) statistical analysis revealed a significant effect of traditional game interventions on the development of gross motor skills among children aged 5–6 years in the experimental group. Therefore, it was concluded that traditional games had a positive effect on the gross motor development of kindergarten children.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of project-based learning models on the creativity of children aged 5-6 years at Panrannuangku Kindergarten 1. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach with a quasi-experiment design. The population amounted to 36 students at Panrannuangku 1 Kindergarten. In this study, the sample was taken randomly from 12 children, each 6 children in the experimental group and 6 children in the control group. Descriptive and non-parametric statistical analysis was used to collect data. In this study, the results obtained Thitung 71 > Ttabel 2.2281 = H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, meaning that there is an effect of project-based learning models on children's creativity. The value of Zhitung 1.52 > Ztabel 0.4394 = H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, meaning that there is an effect of project-based learning models on children's creativity. So it can be concluded that creativity in the experimental class is better than the control class, this proves that the project-based learning model using origami influences children's creativity.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of painting activities using natural materials on children's creativity at Asdani Kindergarten. This study was conducted using a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental research design. with a population of 35 children using simple random sampling with a sample of 8 children each in the experimental and control groups. Descriptive and non-parametric statistical analysis was used to collect data. The results of the data analysis obtained an average increase in the experimental group of 6.25 and in the control group of 1.37. The test results showed a sig. (2-tailed) 0.011 <0.05, then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. So it can be concluded that painting using natural materials has a significant effect on children's creativity at Asdani Kindergarten.

Abstract

This research examines the Whispering Chain Game on Receptive Language Skills of 5-6-year-old Children in Kindergartens in Makassar City. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of children's receptive language skills before being treated, to find out the description of children's receptive language skills after being treated, and to determine whether or not there was an effect of the chain-whisper game on the receptive language skills of children aged 5-6 years in kindergarten. Makassar city before and after the chain whispering activity was given. The research approach used was a quantitative approach with a Quasi-Experimental Design type of research. The population in this study were students aged 5-6 years in TK Aisyiyah Parangtambung. Sampling in this study is cluster random sampling. The sample in this study was 12 children. A total of 6 children in the experimental group and 6 children in the control group. Data collection techniques used were descriptive statistical analysis and non-parametric statistical analysis. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the receptive language skills of children who were treated with the whisper-chain game method in the experimental class were better than in the control class, while Tcount = 87 > Ttable = 2,228 was accepted, and H0 was rejected while Zcount was = 2.36 and Ztable = 0.4906 was rejected. H1 accepts this proves that the whisper-chain game method has a significant effect on receptive language skills in early childhood.

Abstract

Problem-based learning is primarily designed to help students develop their thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and intellectual skills; learn adult roles by experiencing them through various real or simulated situations; and become independent learners. This study used a quasi-experimental method. The type of research design used was a Nonequivalent Control Group Design, with two research groups: an experimental group receiving treatment and a control group not receiving experimental treatment. Data collection techniques used observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques used descriptive analysis and non-parametric statistical analysis. The Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach through maze games had a positive and significant effect on children's critical thinking skills. This was evidenced by the difference in the increase in critical thinking skills between the experimental and control groups, and was reinforced by the results of statistical analysis and conformity with theories and previous research stating that PBL is effective in developing critical thinking skills as part of higher-order thinking skills. The continuous implementation of the PBL approach can be one effort to improve the quality of the learning process in early childhood education.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of early literacy among young children, often influenced by the limited availability of attractive, suitable learning media. Literacy in children aged 5–6 years is an important foundation for the development of reading, writing, and critical thinking skills in subsequent levels of education. This study aims to determine the effect of using smart windmill media on the literacy skills of 5-6-year-old children at Adilika Makassar Kindergarten. The research method is quantitative, using a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were 30 children in group B at Adilika Makassar Kindergarten. The data collection instrument was an observation sheet on literacy skills that included letter recognition, simple reading, and basic writing. The data were analyzed using a paired-samples t-test to assess the difference between the pretest and posttest results. The results showed that the use of smart wheel media significantly improved children's literacy skills. The average posttest score was higher than the pretest score, with a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05), indicating an increase in literacy skills after the children learned to use this medium. Thus, it can be concluded that smart windmill media is an effective, innovative learning tool for improving early childhood literacy.
