Abstract

The art of drumblek is a percussion music phenomenon typical of Salatiga, Central Java, which was born from local creativity by using musical instruments from used items such as barrels, blek, buckets, and bamboo. This research aims to explore the form, socio-cultural function, and development of drumblek as a performing art. The research method is qualitative with an ethnographic approach, involving field observation and in-depth interviews with the actors and drumblek preservationists. The results show that drumblek has undergone a transformation of the form of performance: from a simple appearance in the style of a traditional drumband to a dynamic carnival performance, complete with costume innovations and variations of instruments. This art continues to maintain the values of togetherness, creativity, and the spirit of mutual cooperation in its community. As a collective entertainment vehicle, drumblek also functions as a medium to strengthen Salatiga’s local cultural identity. Drumblek has become a symbol of pride of the Salatiga community. Thus, drumblek makes an important contribution as an innovative performing art while strengthening the cultural identity of the Salatiga community.

Abstract

The halal industry in Indonesia has experienced rapid growth, but the implementation of halal certification still encounters issues. The main challenges include misuse of the halal logo, limited enforcement of the Law No. 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Guarantee and its regulatory mechanisms, and inadequate consumer protection at both the national and international levels. This situation has sparked debate over whether micro-enterprises seek halal certification for religious reasons or primarily in response to market pressures, raising broader concerns about the decline of spiritual values in contemporary halal practices. This study uses a critical qualitative method with an interdisciplinary approach, combining insights from Islamic economics, Islamic studies, and the sociology of religion, while the maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah framework and Islamic economic law serve as the theoretical basis. Findings indicate that halal certification serves both religious and economic purposes, with the two dimensions reinforcing each other. While Halal certification represents moral responsibility and a value of worship, it is also embedded in a global production and distribution system governed by legal frameworks and market logic. The study concludes that the most significant challenge lies in the trade-off between spiritual orientation and economic interests, which can be addressed through more effective Halal certification management. Furthermore, this study argues that strengthening the enforcement of Law No. 33 of 2014 and adopting the proposed Participatory Halal Governance theory can inform halal governance policy reform, improve consumer protection, provide legal certainty, and strengthen Indonesia's competitiveness in the global halal economy.

Abstract

Indonesia’s cultural wealth encompasses a wide range of ethnic groups and traditions, including traditional dances that uniquely represent the history, values, and daily lives of local communities. However, in the current era of technological advancement and globalization, traditional dance faces significant challenges, particularly a decline in cultural awareness among younger generations, which has resulted in decreasing interest in cultural heritage. The limited number of studies examining local culture–based dance learning models that integrate creativity, motor skills, and social sensitivity has prompted this study to further explore the implementation of local culture–based dance education as a strategy for preserving cultural heritage while simultaneously fostering students’ creativity, motor development, and social competencies. This article employs a qualitative research approach through literature review, observation, interviews, and documentation conducted in several senior high schools in Pemalang Regency. The findings indicate that local culture–based learning not only contributes to the preservation of traditional dance but also enhances students’ appreciation of their cultural identity. Instructional methods such as demonstration, participatory learning, creative exploration, case studies, and collaborative projects were identified as effective pedagogical approaches. Furthermore, strategies including collaboration with local artists, curriculum integration, and the utilization of technology were found to enrich learning outcomes. Local culture–based dance education plays a crucial role in shaping culturally aware, creative young generations with strong social skills. This approach serves as a bridge connecting young people to their cultural roots, ensuring that traditional arts remain vibrant amid modernization while simultaneously strengthening cultural identity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of accounting earnings, agricultural policies, and agribusiness expansion through stock market returns on economic growth in Indonesia, with Agricultural Gross Domestic Product (AGDP) as an intervening variable. Its usage is based on the difference in levels between the independent variables as micro-level, and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as macro-level. The data were panel data from 32 out of 68 companies in the agricultural and agribusiness sectors listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the period of 2015–2023. The analysis was conducted with hypothesis testing and the Sobel test to examine the direct and indirect effects of the independent variables on economic growth. The results show that accounting earnings and stock market return do not have a significant direct effect on economic growth. However, accounting earnings have a significant indirect effect on economic growth through AGDP as the intervening variable. Agricultural policies are indicated to have a significant effect on economic growth directly and indirectly. AGDP also plays an important role in promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research explores the aesthetic values and education values of the “Sekapor Sireh” dance as practiced at Sanggar Bougenville in West Kalimantan. As a traditional welcoming dance of the Malay community in Pontianak, the “Sekapor Sireh” dance represents symbols and meanings that reflect the cultural character of the people of West Kalimantan. More than just an aesthetic expression, the dance also carries educational values that develop both in its performance and throughout the learning process. These values play an essential role in shaping the character of the younger generation. This study applied a qualitative method with a case study design., data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving studio administrators, dance instructors, senior and junior dancers, as well as cultural figures. The findings reveal that the aesthetic dimensions of the “Sekapor Sireh” dance can be examined through this approach, content, and performance, all of which are harmoniously combined into a single artistic expression. The educational values represented in the dance such as gentleness, politeness, respect, and tolerance reflect the character of the local community and are further strengthened through the training process, which nurtures discipline, cooperation, and cultural appreciation among young learners. Overall, the “Sekapor Sireh” dance serves not only as a ceremonial art for welcoming guests but also as a significant medium for cultural transmission and character education. It contributes to preserving cultural heritage while supporting the moral and personal development of the younger generation.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Islamic social entrepreneurship in reinventing pesantren-based economies as a sustainable model for community transformation within the broader discourse of inclusive and ethical development. Employing a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation at Pondok Pesantren Al-Amien Prenduan, Indonesia. The findings demonstrate that the implementation of Islamic social entrepreneurship through the Micro Waqf Bank (BWM) Al-Pend Barokah Mandiri significantly contributes to economic empowerment among productive low-income communities. Beyond local impact, this pesantren-based model addresses global challenges related to financial inclusion, social inequality, and sustainable development by embedding Islamic ethical values within entrepreneurial practices. The study contributes to the literature by conceptualizing pesantren not merely as religious institutions but as transformative socio-economic actors capable of driving inclusive growth. This research proposes pesantren-based Islamic social entrepreneurship as a viable alternative framework for sustainable community transformation in emerging Muslim economies.
