Abstract

This research focuses on the development and evaluation of the Elementary Level Tiered Training program which is integrated with mentoring for PAUD teachers in Sidoarjo Regency. The background to this research is the demand for increasing the competency of PAUD teachers to provide optimal educational services in a society that is increasingly critical of early childhood education. Leveled training integrated with mentoring is designed to provide systematic and gradual understanding and skills, as well as direct guidance from experienced mentors.The research method used is a case study with a qualitative approach. Data was collected through questionnaires, in-depth interviews and participant observation. The main findings of this research include the competency needs of PAUD teachers in pedagogical, professional, social and personality aspects, as well as the effectiveness of mentoring methods in increasing teacher competency. This research makes a significant contribution to the professional development of PAUD teachers through a more holistic and sustainable approach.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of facial expression media in developing social-emotional and expressive language skills in children aged 3-4 years. A qualitative descriptive method was used, with data collected through observations and interviews at several kindergartens. The results indicate that media such as hand puppets, picture books, and digital applications displaying facial expressions significantly contribute to the enhancement of emotion recognition and expression, as well as the development of children's expressive language. This research recommends the integration of facial expression media into early childhood education curricula to support their holistic development.

Abstract

Stunting is a serious nutritional issue that affects children's physical growth and cognitive development. It can be prevented through adequate exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of life. This study aims to assess mothers perceptions regarding the importance of exclusive breastfeeding in preventing stunting among toddlers aged 64 months, as well as the factors influencing their decision to provide exclusive breastfeeding. The study sample consisted of 130 mothers with toddlers aged 64 months. Data were collected through interviews using structured questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and logistic regression. The results showed that a positive maternal perception of exclusive breastfeeding was significantly associated with lower stunting rates among toddlers. Moreover, maternal knowledge and family support emerged as key factors contributing to the success of exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Early childhood is a critical phase for developing both cognitive and gross motor abilities. However, many early education practices remain cognitively centered, providing limited structured motor stimulation. This study investigates the effect of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) through a recycled bottle planting project on the cognitive and gross motor development of children aged 5-6 years at RA Rachmat Bangil. Employing a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, the study involved an experimental group participating in a series of hands-on activities designing, cutting, decorating bottles, planting seeds, and plant care while a control group received conventional instruction. Results showed that children in the PjBL group achieved significantly higher cognitive gain scores compared to the control group. Although improvements in gross motor skills were also observed, they were less substantial. The projects physical nature fostered coordination, balance, and movement in a meaningful and enjoyable context. These findings confirm that PjBL, even with simple materials, effectively supports holistic child development. The study suggests that early childhood educators integrate physical engagement within cognitive learning through contextual, environmentally conscious projects.

Abstract

Responsive parenting and balanced nutrition are essential factors supporting the holistic development of early childhood. This study examines the influence of these two factors on children’s independence and stunting prevention using a quantitative correlational approach involving 46 parents at KB RA Mina Jadid, Mojokerto. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson Product Moment correlation. The results show that responsive parenting (4.46), balanced nutrition (4.33), and children’s independence (4.25) fall into the high category. Strong positive correlations were found between responsive parenting and independence (r = 0.71), balanced nutrition and independence (r = 0.76), as well as between parenting and nutrition (r = 0.77). Anthropometric measurements also indicate that most children fall within the normal growth range. These findings confirm that responsive parenting and balanced nutrition significantly contribute to enhancing children’s independence and reducing the risk of stunting.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the influence of the role-play method on financial literacy among early childhood learners. The background of this research stems from the importance of introducing financial understanding at an early age so that children are able to recognize the value of money, distinguish between needs and wants, and learn simple saving practices. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with children as the subjects. Data were collected through observations, teacher interviews, and documentation of learning activities. The findings indicate that the implementation of role-play activities such as market day simulations, buying and selling games, and saving simulations can enhance children’s ability to understand the concept of money value, manage money in simple ways, and develop frugal and responsible attitudes. Thus, the role-play method positively influences early childhood financial literacy by providing enjoyable and contextual learning experiences.

Abstract

Background: Integrating disaster mitigation education into the Early Childhood Education (ECE) curriculum is a strategic effort to foster risk awareness from an early age, especially in disaster-prone areas. Objective: This study aims to strengthen teachers' competence in integrating disaster mitigation into the ECE curriculum through a local wisdom-based approach. Methods: Using a descriptive qualitative design with a participatory action method, the program uses a local wisdom-based approach to strengthen teachers' capacity in developing disaster responsive learning. The training includes disaster literacy workshops, curriculum integration, and play-based simulations tailored to the child's developmental stage. Data were collected through observation, focus group discussions, and teachers' reflective journals, then analyzed thematically. Results: These findings show a marked improvement in teachers' understanding of disaster risk reduction and their ability to integrate mitigation strategies into classroom activities. Conclusion: The incorporation of local cultural values has been shown to be effective in enhancing the role of teachers as facilitators of disaster-resilient and sustainable learning. This study highlights the importance of contextual and culture-based approaches in promoting disaster preparedness in early childhood education.

Abstract

Masa kanak-kanak merupakan periode krusial bagi perkembangan bahasa dan sosial emosional anak. Salah satu faktor penting yang memengaruhi dua aspek perkembangan ini adalah pola asuh orang tua. Pola asuh demokratis dicirikan oleh komunikasi dua arah antara orang tua dan anak, pemberian kebebasan yang disertai tanggung jawab, serta sikap menghargai pendapat anak. Dalam konteks pendidikan anak usia dini, pola asuh demokratis diyakini mampu meningkatkan rasa percaya diri, kemampuan komunikasi, dan kemampuan bersosialisasi anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pola asuh orang tua demokratis terhadap perkembangan bahasa dan sosial emosional anak usia dini di RA Mina Jadid Mojoanyar Mojokerto. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas orang tua menerapkan pola asuh demokratis, dan sebagian besar anak berada pada kategori sedang hingga tinggi dalam perkembangan bahasa dan sosial emosional. Analisis statistik menggunakan uji normalitas, linearitas, dan regresi sederhana menunjukkan adanya pengaruh signifikan pola asuh demokratis terhadap kedua aspek perkembangan anak. Hasil analisis regresi menunjukkan kontribusi sebesar 47,5% terhadap perkembangan bahasa dan 49,6% terhadap perkembangan sosial emosional. Temuan ini menunjukkan pentingnya pola asuh demokratis dalam mendukung pertumbuhan optimal anak usia dini, terutama dalam aspek komunikasi, emosi, dan interaksi sosial.

Abstract

Perkembangan kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan berbicara sangat penting agar anak mampu melakukan eksplorasi terhadap dunia sekitarnya. Permasalahan kemampuan masalah dan berbicara anak usia dini di TK Puspita pada penelitian ini adalah terdapat anak yang kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan kemampuan berbicaranya yang rendah, terlihat dari anak-anak yang kesulitan mengidentifikasi masalah sederhana, tidak mampu mencari alternatif solusi serta kesulitan mengungkapkan ide dan kurangnya keberanian berbicara didepan teman atau guru. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengkaji pengaruh permainan sains lava lamp terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan berbicara anakusia 5-6 tahun di TK Puspita Malang. Metode yang digunakan adalah quasi-eksperimental nonequivalent control group pada 34 anak (eksperimen 18 anak, kontrol 16 anak), melibatkan instrumen observasi, pretest-posttest, uji validitas-reliabilitas, normalitas, homogenitas, serta analisis Mann-Whitney U. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada kelompok eksperimen pasca-intervensi, dengan hipotesis diterima penuh karena permainan lava lamp efektif mendorong eksplorasi, refleksi, dan komunikasi verbal melebihi pendekatan konvensional. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa permainan sains lava lamp memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan berbicara pada anak usia 5-6 tahun.

Abstract

Perkembangan motorik halus merupakan aspek fundamental dalam pendidikan anak usia dini, terutama bagi anak penyandang Autistic Syndrome Disorder (ASD) yang kerap mengalami kesulitan koordinasi gerak jari dan tangan. Hambatan tersebut berdampak pada keterampilan pra-menulis, kemandirian dalam aktivitas sehari-hari, serta partisipasi dalam pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh kegiatan usap abur terhadap perkembangan motorik halus anak penyandang ASD. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Subjek penelitian berjumlah enam anak penyandang ASD. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi partisipatif, wawancara dengan pendidik, serta dokumentasi hasil karya anak. Analisis data menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan, dengan validasi melalui triangulasi sumber. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan usap abur secara konsisten meningkatkan kontrol gerak jari, ketepatan koordinasi mata-tangan, serta daya tahan anak dalam menyelesaikan tugas motorik halus. Peningkatan paling signifikan tampak pada kemampuan anak menggenggam alat, mengatur tekanan tangan saat mengusap warna, dan mengikuti pola sederhana secara mandiri. Dengan demikian, kegiatan usap abur dapat direkomendasikan sebagai strategi stimulasi motorik halus yang efektif, kontekstual, dan aplikatif dalam pembelajaran anak penyandang ASD.
