Abstract

Radial Derivative Forward Modeling of Gravity Anomalies for Identification of Cylindrical Geological Features. The gravity method is a geophysical method with exploration costs that are quite cheap compared to other geophysical methods. This method is based on the density contrast of the target body with the surrounding. The cylindrical body is one of the targets among various other geological features. This research was conducted to test the ability of radial derivatives of gravity anomalies for targets in the form of cylindrical body. Radial derivatives consist of a first derivative and a second derivative. Forward modeling of cylindrical geological features is carried out analytically and with finite elements. Both calculations were carried out with a computer program based on Matlab. The results show that there is no difference in results either analytically or finite element wise. This method has been proven to be able to provide clear boundary positions on cylindrical geological features.

Abstract

Blurred image due to lens defocus can be simulated mathematically as a convolution result between sharp image and Point Spread Function of blur (unfocus) lens. Image sharpening is the opposite of image blurring which can be done by deconvolution. This research was conducted to simulate digital image sharpening using the Blind deconvolution method. The Point Spread Function of the lens effect is used as the deconvolution Kernel function. This Point Spread Function is modeled mathematically with the Gaussian function approach. Convolution results between digital images from photos of an object are convoluted with the point spread function to produce a blurry image. The blurry image is then sharpened using the Blind convolution method. The slight difference between the deconvolution result image and the original object photo image indicates that the program is running well. Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) is used to determine image sharpening recovery. Optimal sharpening recovery from deconvolution iterations is obtained at the maximum PSNR value

Abstract

The rising divorce rate in Indonesia reflects a shift in the meaning and orientation of marriage. Many couples enter marriage not out of sincere spiritual intent or devotion but are driven by materialistic and social motivations that are temporary in nature. This study aims to explore the concept of intention (niyyah) in marriage based on the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and its sociological implications for marital stability in contemporary society. The research employs a qualitative, descriptive–exploratory approach through the study of relevant hadiths and in-depth interviews with Muslim couples and religious counselors. The findings indicate that intention plays a significant role in determining the quality and sustainability of marriage. Couples who marry with sincere and worship-oriented intentions tend to demonstrate healthier communication, stronger commitment, and greater resilience in facing life’s challenges. Conversely, marriages founded on worldly motives such as wealth, social status, or physical attraction are more vulnerable to conflict, disappointment, and divorce. These findings align with the Prophet’s warning that impure intentions lead to humiliation and failure within marriage. The study concludes that purifying one’s intention is a fundamental step toward building a harmonious family amid the challenges of modern materialism and individualism. Practically, the results underscore the importance of incorporating spiritual and ethical values into premarital education for Muslim families.

Abstract

Statistical Physics is an intellectually demanding subject that requires students to navigate abstract representations, probabilistic reasoning, and mathematical formalism simultaneously. In today’s learning environment, students naturally rely on multiple learning sources, textbooks, YouTube videos, Google searches, and increasingly, explanations generated by artificial intelligence (AI). This mixed-methods study explores how such multi-source engagement shapes conceptual understanding among 28 undergraduate physics education students enrolled in a Statistical Physics course. Quantitative data were collected through a Conceptual Understanding Test (CUT), a multi-source learning questionnaire, a misconception inventory, and rubric-based artifact analysis. Qualitative data were gathered from interviews and reflective journals. The findings reveal that students’ conceptual understanding falls within a moderate-to-good range (mean CUT score 69.6), although misconceptions persist, particularly regarding entropy, ensembles, and the partition function. Students with strong conceptual understanding tended to integrate multiple learning sources reflectively constructing coherence across representations while weaker students demonstrated fragmented and shallow engagement. The study concludes that multi-source learning has the potential to reinforce conceptual understanding, provided students develop strategies for synthesizing diverse explanations rather than consuming them indiscriminately.
