Abstract

Concept mastery and creative thinking skills are essential competencies that students must possess to support effective problem-solving. This study aims to analyze the effect of the discovery learning model assisted by dynamic fluid practicum tools on concept mastery, creative thinking skills, and both simultaneously. The method employed was a quasi-experimental design using a non-equivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of two classes: class XI MIPA 1 as the experimental group and class XI MIPA 4 as the control group, selected through purposive sampling. The instrument for measuring concept mastery consisted of 10 multiple-choice questions, while creative thinking skills were assessed using 6 essay-type questions. Both instruments had been tested for validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discriminating power. Posttest data were analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, followed by hypothesis testing using the t-test with pooled variance and MANOVA. The t-test results for concept mastery and creative thinking skills were 2.80 and 2.09, respectively, with a t-table value of 2.00 at a 5% significance level (0.05). These results indicate that tcount > ttable for both variables, meaning that H01 and H02 were rejected and Ha1 and Ha2 were accepted, demonstrating the effect of the discovery learning model assisted by practicum tools on both concept mastery and creative thinking skills. Furthermore, the MANOVA test yielded a significance value of 0.008 < 0.05, leading to the rejection of H03 and acceptance of Ha3, indicating a simultaneous effect of the discovery learning model assisted by practicum tools on concept mastery and creative thinking skills. Thus, the discovery learning model is effective in improving concept mastery, creative thinking skills, and both simultaneously.

Abstract

The concepts of force and motion constitute a fundamental foundation in classical physics and underpin the understanding of other physics concepts. However, numerous studies indicate that these topics often give rise to persistent misconceptions, including among pre-service physics teachers. This study aims to identify the misconception profiles of Physics Education students at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), University of Mataram, in 2024 regarding force and motion concepts; to analyze the types and levels of misconceptions; and to formulate recommendations for improving instructional practices. A descriptive quantitative method with a case study approach was employed, utilizing a reasoned multiple-choice diagnostic test as the research instrument. The sample consisted of 25 students enrolled in the Secondary School Physics Studies course. The results reveal a high level of misconceptions, with 24% classified as low, 44% moderate, and 32% high. The most dominant misconceptions were found in the concepts of action–reaction (30%), normal force (27%), and dynamics (25%), while the lowest misconception rate occurred in the definition of force (8%). These findings indicate that the majority of students still experience difficulties in understanding the relationship between force and motion in accordance with Newton’s laws. Furthermore, the analysis shows a negative correlation between the level of misconceptions and academic achievement in advanced physics topics such as work and energy. Based on these results, this study recommends the routine implementation of diagnostic tests, the application of cognitive conflict–based instructional strategies, and the development of innovative teaching materials emphasizing conceptual change to reduce misconceptions and enhance the quality of future physics educators.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) addresses global issues related to the development of science and artificial intelligence (AI). PAI encourages the pursuit of knowledge as part of worship, as taught in the Qur'an, and can align science with Islamic values to understand Allah SWT's creation. The development of AI raises ethical issues, such as privacy, discrimination, unemployment, and security risks, while also opening opportunities for halal innovation. From the perspective of PAI, AI must be used in accordance with the maqasid sharia for the common good, avoiding misuse that contradicts the principles of honesty and justice. Recommendations include updating the PAI curriculum to improve AI literacy. In conclusion, PAI can serve as a guide for the responsible use of AI, making it a tool for harmony between religion, science, and technology.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of differentiated learning in the subject of Islamic Religious Education and Ethics in the Independent Curriculum at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Jakarta. This study uses mixed methods with a concurrent embedded model, where the qualitative approach is the main method and is strengthened by descriptive quantitative data. The analytical framework refers to Carol Ann Tomlinson's theory which includes three main pillars: philosophy, principles, and practice. The results of the study show that differentiated learning has been implemented effectively starting from the planning, implementation, to evaluation stages. PAI teachers actively adjust learning strategies based on the results of diagnostic assessments that identify students' readiness, interests, and learning styles. In the process, various learning methods such as discussions, worship practices, visual media, and content-based creative projects are used. The effectiveness of differentiated learning is also reinforced by quantitative data showing a significant improvement in the distribution of student grades. Prior to the implementation of differentiated learning (semester 1), most student scores were centered in the range of 85–87, with a mode and median score of 86, and only 3.3% of students reached the highest score range (88–90). After the implementation in semester 2, as many as 26.7% of students reached the score range of 91–93, with an increase in the mode and median to 91. This shows a shift in academic performance collectively towards a higher level. Students respond positively to this approach; They feel cared for, motivated, and more confident in following learning. Thus, these findings show that the implementation of differentiated learning in schools has proven to be effective in meeting the learning needs of students optimally in the learning process of Islamic Religious Education and Ethics.

Abstract

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into educational practices has brought about significant transformations in cross-disciplinary learning processes, including religious education. PAI which fundamentally emphasizes moral formation and spiritual development, faces serious challenges in adapting to AI-based learning environments. This study aims to examine the pedagogical, epistemological, and ethical implications of implementing AI-based PAI learning. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach through a literature review by analyzing various literature related to AI in education, religious pedagogy, and technology ethics. The results of the study indicate that AI enables personalized learning according to individual learners' needs, increases learning accessibility, and supports the development of more interactive learning content and evidence-based data analysis for curriculum development. However, the main challenges relate to content accuracy, the ethical use of AI, and teacher readiness in integrating this technology into PAI learning. This article recommends strengthening teacher training and developing an adaptive PAI curriculum that aligns with the demands of Society 5.0 without neglecting the fundamental values of Islamic education.
