Abstract

This study aims to analyze Japanese affricates sound variation pronunced by Japanese speaking of Balinese. Variation of pronunciation were analyzed by using theory of generative phonology with accoustic phonetic. Kind of affricates sound variation by Japanese speaker of Balinese are alveolar affricates [ts] and [dz]. Voiceless alveolar affricates [ts] is variated in three varians, such as voiceless alveolar fricative [s] and voiceless palatal affricates [ç], and voiceless alveolar affricates [ts] i.e. words tsuki ‘moon’, atsui ‘hot’, dan matsu ‘wait’. Voiced alveolar affricate [dz] is variated in three varians, such as voiceless alveolar fricative [s] and voiced palatal-alveolar affricate [?], and voiced alveolar fricative [z] i.e. words zannen ‘a pity, zenzen ‘nothing at all’, douzo ‘please’.This variation are caused by the characteristic changed in place of articulation and manner of articulation by Japanese speaker of Balinese. Manner of articulation of alveolar affricate [ts, dz] was approached by fricative manner [s] of articulation in Balinese. Place of alveolar affricate articulation changing to palatal [ç] and alveopalatal [?] approached to sound in Balinese. The variation on alveolar fricative level is reached by basic learner, affricate level is reached by intermediate learner, and advanced learner pronounced approximately similar with the native speaker has

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to describe the rule of post lexical phonology finding in Malay Loloan Bali language. The finding covers the rule and the process of phonology and also the motivation of that process. The analysis was done by focusing on the phonology and syntax connection and also the phonology generative approach, therefore the process and the rule of sound change and also the distingtive fitur can be described. Generally, the change of post lexical sound in Malay Loloan Bali language is in form of contraction besides the rule of phonology border word. The sound change in that contraction process generally found in form of the sound change of particel such as demonstrative, preposition, and discourse particel that usually found if it is used in sentences and the sound change in environment of close sound in frase, so it can be covered in phonology post lexical rule. The motivation of the post lexical sound changes is the contraction process occuring the sound deletion. That contraction process caused by the desire of native speaker to use the language more economic and practice, such as deletion ? in preposition ke (ke ulu ? kulu ?ke utara?) or deletion i in demonstrative ini (karang ini ? karang ni ?sekarang ini?. Meanwhile, the sound change in border word of frase caused by anticipation of articulator and articulation when it produces that sounds, for example glaide insertion of [y] in frase (kaki ayam ? [kaki yayam] ?kaki ayam?) that usually shown in phonetice realitation.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of language in multi-ethnic family in Sanur village of South Denpasar, Bali. The description includes (1) the use of language in multi-ethnic family, (2) the function of Indonesian language in the multi-ethnic family, (3) Linguistics constraints faced by multi-ethnic families in Sanur in the communication, both within the family and outside the family. This study uses socio-pragmatics theory that is sociolinguistics theory which sees the language to be in touch with the community of native speakers. Therefore, language is always heterogeneous (not homogeneous) because of the community diversity of the language speakers. Then, the theory is combined with the pragmatic theory that studies how significant data in this study is a field method and the method of analysis is descriptive method. This study found that (1) Based on various situation of language usage, the lagunage used are (a) Indonesian language is used in formal situation Indonesian language mixed with Balinese language are used in non-formal and emotional situation and also when the dialogue happened in the family Indonesian language is used in the o?ce, public health center and school. Meanwhile, within the family, wedding or funerals ceremony and shopping in the market, they use Indonesian language mixed with local and foreign language. Then, in the family meeting and in emotional situation, they use local language (Balinese), and for greeting the neighbor on the street, they use mixed language (Balinese and Indonesian language). Finally, in the religious situation, such as communication situation of personal relationship to the God, they use Indonesian language mixed with the religion language (spell, Arabic, and Japanese). (3) The communication constraints in multi-ethnic family such as the language in the beginning of communication and also di?erent culture and religion. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find the discourse system. By using observation methods, the data collected in the form of oral and written data by informants in the village of Loloan, Jembrana, Bali. The data obtained were processed through speech analyzer and analyzed based on discourse theory. This research was very important to be implemented because it can provide theoretical linguistic benefits in the field of discourse. The discourse studies will apply various concepts in the field of discourse, both variant and universal. The application of various concepts (theories) is seen in the discovery of unique characteristics of Balinese Malay language. These various findings are certainly very useful because they are a contribution to the treasures of Indonesian discourse theory and linguistics in general. For applied linguistics, this research is useful especially in terms of the application of discourse patterns in language teaching, both Malay and Indonesian. With the recognition of the Balinese Malay language discourse formation pattern, the teachers of Malay and Indonesian languages can develop discourse formation methods and discourse analysis, both in the form of lecture modules and in the form of textbooks. It is also related to the tradition of sharing partners, both oral and written. Thus, this study can improve the culture of literacy (read-write) in the Balinese Malay community.

Abstract

[Title: Mastering verb form of –te for declaring ongoing and sequential activity on the students of grade XI IPA SMA PGRI 6 Denpasar Academic Year 2016/2017] This research is aimed to know (1) the ability in mastering verb form of -te on the students of grade XI IPA SMA PGRI 6 Denpasar. (2) The difficulty is faced by the students of grade XI IPA SMA PGRI 6 Denpasar in the use of verb form of –te. The research with this qualitative descriptive design has research subject, that is the students of grade XI IPA SMA PGRI 6 Denpasar and research object, that is verb form of -te. The data is collected through test method. The data is analysed with qualitative and quantitative. The result of the research shows that (1) the ability in mastering the verb form of -te on the students of grade XI IPA SMA PGRI 6 Denpasar belong to lack category, average mark achieved is 50. There are six students 24 % students get enough mark and 19 students 76 % students achieved mark lack;(2) the dificulty is faced by the sudents of grade XI IPA SMA PGRI 6 Denpasar in the use of verb form of -te stated the running activity and ordering activity based on the test result that is the students still confused with the use of verb form of -te between doublé consonant /t/ and /t/ which is not doublé such as mi-ru verb in the verb form of -te become mi-te not mi-tte because mi-ru verb belong to ichidandoushi which is replace gobi(ru) become /te/ and attach with basic morferm verb (mi) so become mi-te.

Abstract

This study entitled "Changes in Indonesian Language Sounds in Language Acquisition in Children Age 3-4 Years, in Jagaraga Village, Kuripan District, West Lombok Regency: A Psycholinguistic Study" which discusses changes in sounds that occur in the speech of children aged 3-4 years and the cause of the change in sound. In this study, researchers focused more on children who use Indonesian as their first language or mother tongue. Children's language development starts from the family and largely depends on the attention of parents and those around them. Language acquisition is associated with mastering a language without being based directly, that is, without going through formal education to teach it. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method, because the data studied are in the form of words not numbers, namely the observation/interview method with qualitative analysis techniques and the presentation of the results of data analysis is carried out using formal and informal methods (Sudaryanto, 2014: 214).The results of this study indicate that the types of sound changes found in the speech of children aged 3-4 years are assimilation, vocal modification, neutralization and zeronization and anaptiksis. Sounds that experience changes in the speech of children aged 3-4 years are dominated by sound [r] and sound [s]. This is because the growth of the articulatory organ in children is not perfect, causing children to have difficulty pronouncing sounds. This case is often referred to as lisp, which is a condition where a person has difficulty pronouncing certain letters or words correctly (Halodoc, 2018). There are internal factors and external factors that influence the cause of sound changes in children aged 3-4 years.

Abstract

This study entitled " The Analysis of Code-mixing in Sagra Short Stories Compilation and Kenanga Novel by Oka Rusmini " aims to find out the types of code-mixing, the code-mixing in the grammatical and syntactic categories, and the factors that cause the code-mixing. Those aims were obtained by using the theory of sociolinguistics, and the method used was attention, supported by free listening proficiency techniques and note-taking techniques. The data analysis process was in a descriptive-qualitative and split methods, and presented in formal and informal methods. The findings of this study are (1) in the compilation of short stories Sagra, there are eighteen data of inner code-mixing consisting Balinese code-mixing in the Indonesian language, five data of outer code-mixing consisting English code-mixing and Japanese code-mixing in the Indonesian language and no mixed code-mixing was found. Moreover, in the Kenanga novel, there are thirty-eight data of inner code-mixing consisting Balinese code-mixing in the Indonesian language, ten data of outer code-mixing consisting English code-mixing in the Indonesian language, and one data of mixed code-mixing consisting English and Balinese in Indonesian language; (2) the grammatical code mixing found in the compilation of short stories Sagra are phrases level that divided into two categories namely attributive endocentric phrases with two data found and exocentric phrases with three data found, and in the word level, there are seven data of base words, two data of affixed complex words, and one data of complex word with clitic. Meanwhile, in the Kenanga novel, there was found one data in clause level, the phrases level that divided into two categories, the attributive endocentric phrases with seven data and the exocentric phrases with two data, and in the word level, there were found seventeen data of base words, three data of affixed complex words and two data of complex words with clitic, and in the syntactic category, nouns, verbs and adjectives categories were found; (3) the factors that cause the code-mixing are participant factor and topic factor.

Abstract

This research aims to knowing what language sounds are used and the process of sound change in the toddler speech. This research uses a qualitative approach. The data sources this research is five children aged two to three years. The method used in the data collection stage is the listening method with fishing technique, note-taking technique, engagement listening technique and recording technique. The method used to analyze the data is match method and agih method. The presentation of the result of data analysis is carried out by formal methods and informal methods. In this research it was found the acquisition of vowels and consonants in children aged 2-3 years has a different amount of sounds. At the age of two years and one month, get 16 vowels and consonants sounds, videlicet [c], [d], [h], [n], [m], [p], [t], [w], [y], [ a], [i], [u], [?], [?], [o], [?]; At the age of two years and three months, get 20 vowels and consonants sounds, videlicet [b], [c], [d], [g], [h], [k], [l], [m], [n], [ p], [t], [w], [y], [a], [i], [u], [?], [?], [o], [?]; and at the age of two years and five months, get 22 vowels and consonants sounds, videlicet [b], [c], [d], [g], [h], [j], [k], [l], [m], [n], [p], [s], [t], [w], [y], [a], [i], [u], [?], [?], [o], [?]; At the age of two years and eight months, there is 23 vowels and consonants soundas, videlicet [b], [c], [d], [g], [h], [j], [k], [l], [m], [n], [p], [s], [t], [w], [y], [a], [i], [u], [?], [?], [o], [?], [?]; whereas at the age of three years, get 23 vowels and consonant sounds, namely [b], [c], [d], [g], [h], [j], [k], [l], [m], [n], [p], [s], [t], [w], [y], [a], [i], [u], [?], [?], [o], [?], and [?]. The acquisition sounds which is still not mastered 2-3 years old children are [r] and [z].

Abstract

This research is entitled Acquisition of Children's Vocabulary Due to the Effect of Video Game Players on Youtube for children aged 4-8 in Rabakodo Village, Sarae Village, RT 09 RW 04 Kec. Wow, Kab. Bima, NTB. which aims to find out how to acquire children's vocabulary and the process of how they master it and to describe the application of Chomsky's genetic theory of cognitivism in acquiring children's vocabulary due to the influence of video game players on Youtube. This research is an interesting problem phenomenon for researchers in the field of psycholinguistics, this is an issue that is very impressive and difficult to prove. This research is included in the type of qualitative descriptive research. The method of data collection is done by the method of observing. The method of data analysis in this study used the matching method and the distributional method. In this study, the presentation of the results of data analysis used was informal. The analysis is carried out with a description of the explanation in simple words that are easy to understand and still use technical terminology. The results of this study are children aged 4-8 years have acquired nouns (mobile phone, monster, weapon, etc.), verbs (hit, play, dead, etc.), and adjectives (strong, crazy, far, etc.) quite well. The application of Chomsky's genetic theory of cognitivism in the acquisition of children's language vocabulary affected by video game players on YouTube distinguishes (language skills), performance (implementation or language processing), and language creativity in language acquisition.

Abstract

In recent years, the Freedom to Learn and Freedom Campus (MBKM) initiative have been vigorously implemented. These include activities such as internships and student exchanges. While the Freedom to Learn program must be welcomed, it is important to note that some forms of this program are not entirely new, as student exchanges have been conducted at the high school level before. This article outlines the Student Exchange Program (PPS) through the biographical account of a legendary educator from Bali, Wayan Djiwa Duarsa, who founded and led State Teacher Education School (SPGN) Denpasar for 27 years (1959-1986). Data was collected through interviews, focused group discussions, and document studies. The analysis results indicate that in the early 1980s, Djiwa Duarsa pioneered the Student Exchange Program across Java and Bali, aiming to broaden the understanding of the archipelagic values among students and instill a sense of nationalism. In addition to the monumental PPS program, Djiwa Duarsa's biography also depicts the history of SPGN in Bali and its achievements at the national level. This article is expected to contribute to providing an initial study on the history of teacher education in Bali, which is useful for improving the quality of education for the progress of the nation.
