Abstract

Small Medium and Entreprises (SMEs) play a major role in the Indonesian economy. The trade sector is the largest, increasing added value by 63.5% compared to the manufacturing sector by 16.7% in 2021. To maintain business continuity, it is important to implement a system of appropriate compensation according to the 3P (Pay for Position, Person, and Performance) principles. Evaluation of the compensation system is important, especially for retail SMEs, where competition for talent and for attracting good human resources is crucial. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the compensation provided by SMEs to employees against the regional minimum wage, develop compensable factors, and evaluate compensation through the eckenrode system to determine the value of points per compensable factor criteria in the SMEs trade sector. This research is a descriptive quantitative study with a sample of 131 employees in six SMEs from Bogor, Depok, Lampung, Bali, and Lombok. The sources of data are secondary data in the form of employee salary surveys and literature studies. Methods of data analysis using the descriptive analysis method and the eckenrode system The results show that there are SMEs that have not implemented a compensation system that meets the regional minimum wage, so it is necessary to determine the new salary structure using ten compensable factors, with education having the highest weight. In the new salary structure, there is an increase in the total salary of 120.04% with a value per salary point of Rp. 17,944. Therefore, the trade sector SMEs can implement the new salary structure in order to improve the welfare of their employees by considering their capitals respectively.

Abstract

SMEs play a big role in the Indonesian economy, which contributes to 61.97% of GDP in 2020. Employees are the most important asset for a company, so companies should provide proper compensation. This also applies to SMEs in the trade sector. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the SME compensation system based on compensable factors. The purpose of this research is to assess the compensation system for the UMP and UMK, to examine the job qualifications required for each position, and to examine the compensable factors in the trade sector SMEs. The research method uses descriptive analysis through the Hay Method approach with a sample of six SMEs from Bogor, Depok, Lampung, Bali, and Lombok. The secondary data sources were obtained from the results of the employee salary survey research and literature study. The results show that there are still many SMEs that have not set a compensation system according to the UMP and UMK. The highest job qualifications are in manager positions, while the lowest job qualifications are in staff positions. Meanwhile, there are ten compensable factors that are most often used in determining the amount of compensation for SME employees in the trade sector, including education, experience, customer service orientation, physical effort, responsibility, communication, analysis and problem solving, planning and coordination, freedom of action, and working conditions. It is hoped that the ten compensable factors can be used as a reference in determining the appropriate compensation system for SMEs in the trading sector in Indonesia.

Abstract

In many nations, including Indonesia, unemployment is one of the key problems. the percentage rate of unemployment in Indonesia is still relatively high compared to other countries, although it has dropped every year. Vocational High School (VHS) graduates dominate the largest number of unemployed individuals in Indonesia. Creative entrepreneurs are one option since they can build their own work. But the entrepreneurial interest of VHS students in Indonesia is still low. The objective of this research is to develop strategies for creating entrepreneurship in conjunction with the skills needed to become entrepreneurs. Primary data was gathered with eleven headmasters of VHS in Indonesia through focus group discussion (FGD) and secondary data collected from literature research. The data analysis was processed through stakeholder analysis and the house model to create an effective strategy and decision. The study results indicate that synergistic cooperation from a quadruple helix consisting of universities, entrepreneurial societies, government, and industry is required in order to achieve 'one student, one business' mission as the output. Furthermore, organizing talent management to provide the mindset as CEO for vocational students and training school principals is a way out of this issue in order to create links and match VHS student interests and providing the growth of CEO mindset training for the VHS principals. Therefore, VHS Students can establish their own company and become entrepreneurs according to their interests and ambitions, both before and after graduating from VHS.
