Abstract

This study aims to apply the Map Puzzle learning method in order to improve students' spatial thinking and critical thinking skills. The method used in this research is an experimental method with a research design involving two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group will receive treatment in the form of applying map puzzle learning media in geography learning, while the control group will follow conventional learning without using media. The research subjects were students of SMP Cendikia class 9A with 30 students and 9B with 30 students. The instrument used to measure students' spatial thinking and critical thinking skills consists of 30 multiple choice questions. This test will be given before (pretest) and after (posttest) applying map puzzle media. The results showed that the application of the Map Puzzle method can significantly improve the spatial thinking and critical thinking skills of students. Learners are more actively involved in the learning process, and the use of map puzzles provides variations in learning methods that can motivate learners to think more critically and understand spatial concepts better. Map Puzzle learning media is effectively used as a learning strategy in developing spatial and critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to examine how Project-Based Learning (PjBL) and gender differences affect student engagement in learning activities. A quantitative approach was adopted, utilizing a quasi-experimental design characterized by a post-test only control group. The sample consisted of 64 students from the tenth grade at SMAN 1 Lamongan, who were allocated into two groups: one experimental group that implemented PjBL and one control group that adhered to conventional teaching methods. Each group included 17 male and 15 female students. Data were collected through observational methods, and the hypotheses were analyzed using ANOVA. The results demonstrated that 1) PjBL has a significant positive effect on student activeness, 2) gender plays a role in determining the level of student activeness, and 3) female students showed a tendency towards greater activeness compared to male students when involved in the PjBL approach.

Abstract

Blind students cannot use their senses properly; they can learn by relying on their senses of touch and hearing. For this reason, it is necessary to have teaching media that depend on the importance of communication or hearing to recognize material on the shape of the Earth's surface. This research aims to increase the learning interest of blind students in the fabric of the Earth's surface in social science subjects. This research method is pre-experimental, with blind students being treated with 3D media and observing their responses. The application of 3D media in the form of the Earth's surface in learning for blind children involved eight students. It was implemented in three junior high schools in East Java, Indonesia. These schools include Special Schools in Bojonegoro, Surabaya, and Sidoarjo. The results of the application of 3D media show that using 3D learning media in the form of the Earth's surface in the teaching and learning process can generate new desires and interests, generate motivation, and stimulate learning activities, even bringing psychological influences on blind students. 3D learning media can also help improve students' understanding, present data excitingly and reliably, facilitate data retention, and obtain information about the shape of the Earth's surface.
