Abstract

Introduction to The Problem: This article theoretically explores two main pillars of human developmental psychology: language and moral development. It is based on the need for a comprehensive review that separately outlines Noam Chomsky's transformational generative theory of language development and Lawrence Kohlberg's stages of moral development theory. Purpose: This study provides an in-depth and separate intellectual profile, postulates and theoretical structure, as well as the dynamics of the language and moral development processes of each theory. Design/methods/approach: Through a literature study method with a psychological approach, this study analyzes and synthesizes relevant literature to build a clear understanding of the basic assumptions and implications of both theories. The researcher analyzed various primary and secondary sources from various academic databases. The data collected were analyzed using content analysis techniques. Findings: The results of the study indicate that, although Chomsky and Kohlberg operate in different domains with unique theoretical assumptions, both have made fundamental contributions to shaping our understanding of how individuals develop their language and moral capacities separately. Originality/value: The novelty of this article is that it provides a structured theoretical review focused on each theory independently, without comparison or synthesis, thereby establishing a strong foundation of understanding before more complex interconnection studies.

Abstract

This article is based on the article "Esoteric Study of Mujahadah Nights: A Review of Ulric Neisser's Cognitive Psychology", explaining night mujahadah activities at the Raudlotul Huda Islamic boarding school, Margoyoso, Jepara. Mujahadah means being serious, using all your energy and thoughts to achieve your goal. The article conveys the night mujahadah procession as part of the subjective, esoteric aspect. The purpose of this writing is to interpret the esoteric aspects of night mujahadah from a psychotherapy perspective. The cornerstone of the question as a trigger for discussion is how is the interpretation of psychotherapy in night mujahadah and how is the actualization of psychotherapy practicing night mujahadah wadhifah? The approach used is an interpretive approach, Paul Ricoeur. By using qualitative content analysis methods. The results of this research are 1) the practice of night mujahadah psychotherapy is carried out such as morning prayers and continued reading awradul mujahadah accompanied by a surrendered heart (wa antalqahu bil qabul) and appreciation, and 2) the actualization of night mujahadah psychotherapy is aimed at solving problems. This actualization is considered capable of being a support system for practitioners who experience a crisis or psychological trauma. So it becomes an antidote to psychosomatic disorders and indications of psychopathological disorders.

Abstract

Character education is an important element in shaping the emotional stability of junior high school students, especially amidst the complex emotional development challenges of adolescence. Values such as empathy, self-control, and responsibility instilled through character education help students manage emotions, improve social relationships, and deal constructively with academic and social pressures. This article examines the role of character education based on a literature review, highlighting collaboration between school, family and community as key supporting elements. Despite implementation challenges, such as time constraints and lack of teacher training, a holistic approach and integration of character values in the curriculum have been shown to be effective in supporting students' emotional development. The findings provide insights for educators and policy makers to optimise the positive impact of character education in shaping adolescent emotional stability

Abstract

Abstract

Learning evaluation is an essential component of the educational process, particularly in the context of Islamic Religious Education (IRE), which aims to nurture individuals who are religious and possess noble character. To date, the practice of evaluating IRE in many schools has largely focused on cognitive aspects, while the dimension of spirituality—the core of Islamic education—has often been overlooked. This study aims to examine the urgency and implementation of the spirituality dimension in the evaluation of IRE learning at primary schools in Bengkalis Regency. Employing a quantitative-descriptive approach, the study involved a population of IRE teachers from 30 public and private primary schools. A purposive sample of 60 teachers was selected. Data were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire based on a spirituality scale developed from the following indicators: awareness of God’s presence, sincerity, moral responsibility, and students’ inner transformation. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (percentages and means). The findings reveal that 82% of teachers acknowledge the importance of spiritual evaluation; however, only 41% consistently integrate it into their daily assessment practices. Most teachers (67%) admitted difficulties in measuring spiritual aspects objectively and systematically. Evaluation remains dominated by written tests and behavioral observations, with no explicit spiritual rubric. This study recommends the development of contextual spiritual evaluation instruments, teacher training in authentic spirituality-based assessment, and policy support from educational stakeholders to position the spirituality dimension as a central pillar of IRE evaluation. The study affirms that the success of IRE cannot be adequately measured by exam scores alone, but rather by the extent to which students experience genuine spiritual appreciation and transformation.

Abstract

This article aims to determine the application of active learning strategies in teaching Arabic language planning courses to Arabic language education students at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, and to analyze the effectiveness of active learning strategies in increasing student engagement and critical thinking skills. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive field research type. The research subjects were Arabic Education students in class D in their third semester. Data collection included observation, interviews, and documentation to obtain data on implementing active learning strategies and student responses to the learning process. This study shows that the application of active learning strategies using small group discussion and question-and-answer methods created an interactive learning atmosphere. This strategy also improved students' understanding of the course and encouraged them to solve problems actively. However, there were obstacles such as a lack of preparation and confidence among students. Active learning can be an alternative learning strategy in higher education to optimize student potential.

Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of the research is to provide an overview to educators regarding the practice of implementing direct interactive learning strategies, in which errors considered common often occur. In this case, they are not believed to be mistakes, whereas they are not implemented by the theory, such as the absence of implementation of clarification in the learning process. Methods – This research is qualitative type. Therefore, the data is collected by observation. Observations were carried out in the classrooms of students of the 5th semester Islamic Religious Education study program at Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University, Yogyakarta. The data analysis used is the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of steps for data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Findings – The results of this research indicate that the implementation of interactive learning strategies in the classroom contains a sequence of steps by theory, commencing with goals and establishing a set, explanation or demonstration of knowledge, guided practice, checking understanding and providing feedback, as well as extended practice and expanding transfers. Nonetheless, the two steps are combined into one by the educator who implements them.Research Implications – This research is limited to the application of interactive direct learning strategies. In this case, the obstacle in this strategy is the difficulty in generalizing several steps in the learning strategy since there are steps combined into one. The researcher hopes that this research can be a guide for educators in implementing interactive direct learning strategies in the classroom.
