Abstract

Introduction to The Problem: The evolution of religious development in adults constitutes a pivotal aspect within the academic study of religious education and the psychology of religion. With advancing age, an individual’s comprehension and disposition towards religion may undergo transformations, mediated by lived experiences, the socio-environmental context, and processes of personal introspection. Purpose: The objective of this research is to theoretically examine the process of religious development/maturation in adulthood and to identify the contributing factors that influence this trajectory. This study holds significance as it aims to provide a conceptual framework for religious education initiatives that are more attuned to the spiritual needs of the adult population. Design/methods/approach: This study employed a library research methodology (literature review), involving the systematic collection and analysis of diverse scholarly sources, including books, academic journals, articles, and previous research findings pertaining to adult religious development. This approach enabled the researcher to achieve a deeper understanding of existing concepts and established theoretical frameworks. Findings: The findings of the review indicate that religious development in adulthood is not a static process, but rather a dynamic trajectory that is subject to situational variability. Adults typically begin to engage in a deeper exploration of religious meaning, shifting from a form of religiosity based solely on adherence to established rules toward a more personal orientation aligned with their individual lived experiences. Furthermore, they tend to become more openminded, demonstrate greater judiciousness in navigating religious differences, and exhibit a heightened concern for ethical values. Nonetheless, this developmental process is heterogeneous, contingent upon each individual’s educational background, cultural context, and idiosyncratic life experiences. Research implications/limitations: A principal limitation of this research is the absence of primary empirical data collection, as the findings are derived exclusively from theoretical frameworks and published literature. Originality/value: Notwithstanding this constraint, the study remains valuable by enhancing the current understanding of how religiousness evolves in adulthood, thus providing a crucial theoretical foundation for subsequent, more empirical research endeavors.

Abstract

Introduction to The Problem: This phenomenon holds significant importance, given the complexity of the Indonesian socio-cultural context and the existing disparity in the quality of Early Childhood Education (ECE) services. Purpose: This study is designed to meticulously explore the intricate interactions among social environmental factors, parenting practices, education, nutrition, and culture in shaping the holistic development of early childhood. Design/methods/approach: The research employed a qualitative approach, utilizing a combination of narrative inquiry and case studies. Data collection involved semistructured interviews, participatory observation, and documentation targeting 12 participants, comprising parents, ECE teachers, and administrators of early childhood education institutions within Sleman Regency. Purposive and snowball sampling techniques were utilized to select the relevant informants. Data analysis was performed thematically, based on the interactive model proposed by Miles & Huberman. Findings: Five core themes were identified: (1) The quality of the social environment supporting socio-emotional development; (2) Democratic parenting practices fostering independence and self-expression in children; (3) Local culture-based ECE reinforcing children’s identity and engagement; (4) Nutritional consumption patterns impacting children's focus and participation; and (5) Cultural values serving as instruments for character education. These findings affirm that child development is the result of an intricate system that is socio-economically and culturally interconnected. Research implications/limitations: It is recommended that future research thoroughly investigate the spiritual and religious dimensions of holistic child development. Originality/value: The primary contribution of this study is the enrichment of Bronfenbrenner’s ecological theory and social constructivism within the local Indonesian context, alongside providing an empirical foundation for designing highly contextualized community-based interventions..

Abstract

This research aims to describe the development of young adults from a psychological perspective. This research uses literature review research, namely conducting library searches and research by reading various kinds of books, journals and other library publications related to the topic under study. Data analysis techniques used in this research is a content analysis method. Meanwhile, the data sources used are books and research journals. The results of this research are that early adulthood is also known as the transition from adolescence to adulthood, which occurs approximately between the ages of 20 and 40 years. The transition from dependence on others to independence, both in terms of economics, freedom of self-determination, and views of the future, as well as changes in physical, intellectual, social roles, psychology, and reproductive abilities. However, early adulthood is considered an immature age in terms of social relationships, because the busyness of pursuing a career, working, getting married, and involvement in activities outside the home decreases. As a result, early adult individuals will experience social isolation for the first time, this is known as a competitive crisis by Erickson.

Abstract

article discussed four main topics, where the results of observations in previous research are then connected with educational issues that occur today. The topic of observation is as follows: the role of the genome in the evolution of uniquely human traits occurs dynamically, the relationship between the genome, brain, and sub-sections related to cognition, attempts to associate cognition in the genome, correspondence between a particular level of behavioral complexity and the mechanisms by which the genetic system regulates both, genome and its role in education. The research method in this article is literature review in part one at Innovations in Educational Psychology book edited by David D. Preiss and Robert J. Stenberg as the primary source and other supporting literature as secondary sources. The results of this study reveal that the genome has an important benefit for education, although not directly but can better understand the nature and degree of flexibility of individual differences in the classroom. Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to describe and analyze the Reflective-Inspirational Learning Model applied in the Research Methodology course at the university level. It explores students’ learning experiences within a pedagogical approach that integrates reflection, inspiration, and academic ethics to foster conceptual understanding, moral awareness, and motivation toward research engagement.Design/methods/approach – A descriptive qualitative design with embedded quantitative data was employed. The data were drawn from 30 written reflections of students in the Biology Education Study Program during the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Using content analysis, the reflections were coded, categorized, and quantified to identify dominant themes and their frequency. Inter-rater reliability (r = 0.87) was ensured to strengthen coding consistency, and descriptive statistics supported the thematic interpretation.Findings – The results show that the reflective-inspirational model effectively enhanced students’ research competence and ethical consciousness. Quantitatively, 83% of students described the class as inspiring and motivating, 76% emphasized ethical awareness and honesty, and 70% reported increased confidence to conduct research. Thematic analysis revealed four main categories: learning comfort (80%), ethical awareness (70%), research literacy (76%), and reflective self-growth (68%). The most memorable topics were data collection techniques (40%), research ethics and plagiarism awareness (27%), instrument validity and reliability (17%), and problem formulation (10%). These findings confirm that the model fosters conceptual understanding, moral integrity, and academic motivation.Research Implications/Limitations – The model can serve as an innovative pedagogy for improving research literacy and ethical sensitivity in higher education. However, its contextual limitation—focused on one study program—calls for further validation through larger and longitudinal studies.Originality/Value – This research contributes original insights by integrating reflective learning and inspirational teaching within research instruction. The combination of qualitative and quantitative evidence demonstrates that humanistic, value-based approaches can holistically strengthen students’ research competence, ethics, and self-confidence.

Abstract

Purpose – The misalignment between the profile with the body of knowledge (BoK) and the graduates’ learning outcomes (LO) of the PAI Study Program has caused the unclear educational objectives of the PAI study program, requiring the reconstruction of the PAI curriculum. This study aims to examine the reconstruction process of the PAI curriculum including the Profile, BoK, and LO of the PAI. Design/methods/approach –The research was conducted qualitatively using survey, interview, and documentation methods packaged in seminars, guest lectures, workshops, and Focus Group Discussions. The subjects in this study were 83 PAI Study Program managers from Sumatra, Jakarta and Jabodetabek, DIY and Central Java, East Java, and the Eastern regions; the interviews were carried out with 15 study program managers. The obtained data was processed through the stages of reduction, display, and interpretation. Findings – The results showed: 1) there are 6 profiles of Indonesian PAI after being reduced from 51 profiles, namely PAI teachers in schools/madrasahs, educational consultants, research assistants, administrators of educational institutions, Da’i/muballigh, and edupreneurs, 2) PAI’s Body of Knowledge consists of four scientific families: PAI science (what to teach), teaching science (how to teach), education and psychology (how to discipline), Research methodology, philosophy, language, technology, edupreneur (how to produce), 3) Graduate learning outcomes include in-depth mastery of PAI science, teaching, pedagogic, and PAI development, as well as how to teach PAI science effectively. Research implications/limitations – This research has implications for the importance of preparing graduate profiles based on tracer studies, rather than based on ‘personal wishes’; and Learning outcomes must be adjusted to the standardized BoK of the Study Program. Originality/value – the importance of profile mapping based on tracer studies, the significance of PAI’s body of knowledge in achieving PAI goals, and the importance of graduate learning outcomes for the expertise of PAI graduates.

Abstract

Bloom’s Taxonomy traditionally positions memorization at the lowest cognitive level (remember) and categorizes it as a lower-order thinking skill (LOTS). This view often reduces memorization to a mechanical process with limited intellectual value compared to critical and creative thinking. In the tradition of Islamic education, however, particularly in Qur’anic memorization, memorization plays a central role that combines cognitive, spiritual, and affective dimensions, shaping students’ character, morality, and scholarly identity. This study seeks to reconstruct the position of Qur’anic memorization within Bloom’s Taxonomy, aiming to demonstrate that memorization can progress beyond LOTS toward higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) while simultaneously nurturing spiritual development. A qualitative descriptive-analytical design was employed, combining a literature review of Bloom’s Taxonomy and Islamic pedagogy with in-depth interviews involving tahfidz teachers, Islamic education lecturers, and Qur’an-memorizing students. The collected data were analyzed thematically to capture both empirical experiences and conceptual interpretations. The findings reveal that Qur’anic memorization provides a foundation for understanding, application, analysis, evaluation, and even the creation of new ideas rooted in Qur’anic values. This research concludes that memorization should not be seen as a low-level skill but as an epistemological and spiritual instrument that integrates knowledge, faith, and ethical practice, enriching educational excellence and inspiring innovative pedagogical approaches.
