Abstract

Mantangan (Merremia peltata) is the most important invasive species in Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park (BBSNP) due to its fast-growing and spreading that potentially damage and threat biodiversity conservation. The objectives of this study were to determine the biomass stock and productivity of mantangan and the nutrient content of mantangan biomass grown in various classes of canopy cover. Stratified sampling was employed as a sampling method on three classes of canopy cover, i.e., sparse (light intensity > 70%), medium (light intensity 40 -70%), and dense (light intensity < 40%). A destructive method was used to collect biomass samples. The biomass harvesting was conducted twice. The first was conducted to determine biomass storage and nutrient content, and the second was conducted a month later to measure biomass productivity. The macronutrient content (N, P, K, and C-Organic) of mantangan was analyzed at the Soil Science Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The results showed that the biomass stock and productivity differed in each canopy cover class. The highest biomass stock was found in sparse canopy cover (192 kg/ha), followed by medium (188 kg/ha) and dense (179 kg/ha). Biomass productivity was highest in sparse canopy cover (93 kg/ha/month), followed by medium (79 kg/ha/month) and dense (83 kg/ha/month), respectively. Surprisingly, the nutrient content and nutrient productivity of mantangan grown on medium canopy cover were higher than that of dense and sparse. Abstract

Sengon (Falcataria moluccana) is a fast-growing species widely planted in Industrial Plantation Forests (IPF/HTI) and has high economic value. The provision of planting material must be well prepared and planned to get the appropriate nursery planting media composition. The Empty Palm Oil Bunches (EFB) biochar application improves soil's chemical and physical properties to provide nutrients for plants. This study aims to determine the effect of the application of EFB biochar on the growth of sengon roots. The experimental design was completely randomized (CRD) by applying four treatment levels and 20 repetitions. The treatments were (A) 100% soil (control), (B) 5% EFB biochar, (C) 10% EFB biochar, and (D) 15% EFB biochar. The data were then analyzed by analysis of variance to see the effect of the treatment on the observed root growth parameters, followed by the 5% Least Significant Difference (LSD) further test to determine differences between treatments. The parameters observed were root length, root volume, root wet weight, and root dry weight. The result showed that the application of EFB biochar increased the growth of sengon roots compared to the control. The greater the dose of the addition of EFB biochar given to the growing media, the more it showed a positive response in improving the growth of sengon roots. In this study, the 15% dose showed the best results compared to other treatments.

Abstract

Banyaknya pencemaran yang terjadi telah menyebabkan memburuknya kondisi lingkungan. Beberapa pencemaran yang sering terjadi yaitu pencemaran air, udara, dan tanah. Pencemaran  tersebut tidak sedikit yang disebabkan oleh ulah manusia. Salah satu pencemaran yang sering dijumpai yaitu pencemaran pada tanah yang diakibatkan oleh limbah oli bekas. Limbah oli bekas termasuk dalam B3 (bahan berbahaya dan beracun) yang mengandung unsur Fe, Zn, dan Cu. Unsur-unsur tersebut berbahaya bagi mikroorganisme dan lingkungan sehingga diperlukan cara yang tepat untuk mengatasinya. Salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan yaitu melalui fitoremediasi dengan menggunakan tanaman kaliandra merah sebagai komponen utama dan pupuk kandang sapi untuk memperbaiki tanah yang telah tercemar. Penelitian ini mengggunakan rancangan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan menggunakan 1 faktor yaitu pupuk kandang sapi yang terdiri dari 3 taraf meliputi 0 g, 100 g, dan 200g. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perlakuan pupuk kandang sapi memberikan pengaruh terbaik (P>0.01) pada parameter tinggi batang semai, diameter batang semai, bobot basah akar, bobot basah pucuk, bobot kering akar, bobot kering pucuk, dan bobot kering total, serta bepengaruh nyata pada (P>0.05) pada parameter jumlah daun semai dan jumlah bintil akar.

Abstract

Kegiatan pertambangan baik dengan izin maupun pertambangan tanpa izin dapat memberikan dampak buruk bagi lingkungan sekitar sehingga perlu dilakukan upaya pengolahan tailing dengan cara revegetasi ataupun pemanfaatan tailing sebagai media tanam. Biochar menjadi salah satu alternatif bahan pembenah tanah yang dapat digunakan pada lahan purna tambang. Penerapan biochar memiliki potensi untuk meningkatkan kapasitas tanah untuk menyimpan hara dan udara, mengurangi penguapan udara dari tanah, meningkatkan kegemburan tanah, dan mencegah munculnya penyakit tanaman tertentu. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana dosis biochar berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan mahoni yang ditanam pada media tanam tailing. Mahoni ditanam selama 5 bulan menggunakan rencana acak lengkap (RAL) dengan perlakuan yaitu pemberian biochar pada media tanam tercemar tailing emas. Parameter yang diamati antara lain yaitu pertambahan tinggi batang, diameter batang, luas daun, dan panjang akar. Analisis data menggunakan analisis ragam dan uji BNT. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan dosis biochar pada media tailing berpengaruh sangat nyata pada parameter pertambahan tinggi dan juga diameter batang mahoni. Semakin tinggi dosis biochar yang diberikan pada media tailing cenderung meningkatkan pertumbuhan tanaman mahoni.

Abstract

Biodiversity and local wisdom in mangrove ethnopharmacology are essential to study as a basis for conservation and health development. The study objectives were determining mangroves’ diversity and distribution, their use as herbal medicine, and their trusted medical properties. Vegetation analysis was employed to study the mangrove diversity. An interview and observation were conducted to study mangrove utilization. Mangrove diversity was determined by examining the diversity index. Mangrove utilization was determined by descriptive comparative analysis and calculating species use value, plant part value, and fidelity level. Total 28 species of mangroves from 15 families in Lampung. The highest mangrove diversity is in Lampung Timur (22 species; Shannon Index (H') = 1.93), followed by Pesawaran (21 species; H' = 1.96), Tulang Bawang (12 species; H' = 1.24), and Lampung Selatan (11 species H' = 0.90). Surprisingly, a species was used for different purposes in different areas. S. caeseolaris has the highest species use value of 0.1591. Leaves have the highest plant part value of 58%. R. apiculata, as an antiseptic, and S. caseolaris, as an antioxidant, have the highest fidelity level, 14%. Eight mangrove species trusted by the community have ten medical properties. This finding could be the basis for scientific studies to find new sources of medicine. Keywords: biodiversity, costal area, ethnopharmacology, herbal medicine, mangrove

Abstract

The wood sawing industry generates significant waste, consisting of wood chips, wood scraps, and sawdust. This research aims to evaluate the effect of rubber wood sawdust addition on the moisture content, water absorption capacity, and compressive strength of paving blocks. The study was conducted in August–September 2023, starting with preparing raw materials, composition planning, and test specimen fabrication. The parameters in this study included density testing, moisture content, water absorption capacity, and compressive strength. The density test results for treatments P0 were 1.11 g/cm3, P1 1.09 g/cm3, P2 1.07 g/cm3, P3 1.08 g/cm3, and P4 1.09 g/cm3. The moisture content test yielded values of 11.38% for P0, 12.56% for P1, 12.94% for P2, 13.24% for P3, and 13.80% for P4. The water absorption capacity values obtained were, for P0, 5.17%; P1, 5.40%; P2, 6.36%; P3, 8.11%; and P4, 9.27%. Compressive strength tests produced values for P0 at 7.19 N/mm2, P1 at 5.67 N/mm2, P2 at 4.22 N/mm2, P3 at 3.48 N/mm2, and P4 at 3.07 N/mm2. The addition of rubber wood sawdust to paving blocks significantly influences density, moisture content, water absorption capacity, and compressive strength values. Keywords: Composition, Compressive strength, Paving block, Sawdust waste.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan porang sebagai bahan dasar kuliner sangat penting dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kualitas rasa produk. Selama ini porang masih belum digunakan oleh petani walaupun mereka mempunyai bahan umbi porang. Kondisi ini terjadi karena mereka tidak tahu bagaimana pengolahan porang dan meramunya untuk kuliner. Tujuan Pelatihan adalah membangun ketrampilan petani dalam membuat kuliner berbahan dasara porang. Pelatihan dilakukan di Desa Hanura Pesawaran Lampung. Jumlah peserta yang dilatih sebanyak 30 orang yang berasal dari Kelompok Tani Hutan (KTH) Sistem Hutan Kerakyatan (SHK) Lestari Hanura Pesawaran Lampung. Peran mitra (kelompok tani Sistem Hutan Kerakyatan Lestari adalah penyedia umbi porang yang selama ini tidak dimanfaatkan karena harga umbinya sangat rendah hingga mencapai Rp 2.500. Kelompok tani berharap tanaman porang dapat dikembangkan di areal kelola mereka.  Untuk peningkatan hasil panen diharapkan adanya mesin pengolah umbi porang menjadi glukomanan sehingga nilai jual porang menjadi meningkat melalui pengolahan porang menjadi berbagai kuliner seperti bakso dan mpek-mpek. Para petani diharapkan menjadi pioneer untuk membuat tepung porang dan bakso. Dampak yang akan terjadi adalah petani yang selama ini memiliki tanaman porang menjadi terampil dalam mengolah porang kuliner yang dapat dikonsumsi ataupun di pasarkan. Sehingga kegiatan ini dapat memberikan dampak positif bagi peningkatan kesejahteraan petani desa Hanura dan sekitarnya.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesuburan tanah dan produktivitas pertanian di lahan Hutan Kemasyarakatan (HKm) yang dikelola oleh Gabungan Kelompok Tani Hutan (Gapoktanhut) Pujo Makmur melalui penerapan biochar sebagai teknologi pembenah tanah dalam praktik pertanian regeneratif. Pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi ceramah, diskusi, dan demonstrasi praktik pembuatan serta aplikasi biochar. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan, sikap, dan keterampilan petani terkait biochar. Petani memahami definisi, manfaat biochar dalam memperbaiki sifat fisik, kimia, dan biologi tanah, serta teknik pembuatan dan aplikasinya. Pelatihan juga memberikan keterampilan praktis dalam memilih biomassa, membuat alat pirolisis, serta memproduksi biochar secara mandiri. Penggunaan biochar sebagai bagian dari pertanian regeneratif terbukti dapat memperbaiki kesuburan tanah secara berkelanjutan, mengurangi ketergantungan pada pupuk kimia, dan membantu mitigasi perubahan iklim. Masukan dari peserta mencerminkan kebutuhan untuk pendampingan berkelanjutan dan pelatihan lanjutan untuk memperdalam penerapan teknologi biochar di lahan mereka.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Pembangunan kampung literasi Dusun VII Kampung Rukti Harjo, Lampung Tengah yang diaktualisasikan melalui pendirian Pojok Baca Saraswati perlu didukung dengan kemampuan yang memadai dalam pengelolaan pojok baca. Studi ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan masyarakat dalam mengelola Pojok Baca Saraswati. Metode: Metode PAR (Participatory Action Research) dengan melibatkan 12 orang anggota Karang Taruna Seka Teruna Teruni (STT). Hasil: Hasilnya, (1) 83,33% masyarakat sangat memahami cara mengatur dan merawat koleksi buku, (2) 75% masyarakat sangat memahami masyakarat dalam memilih buku, (3) 66,67% masyarakat sangat memahami menarik minat masyarakat, (4) 66.67 masyarakat sangat memahami cara mengatasi masalah pengelolaan, dan (5) 58.33% masyarakat sangat memahami cara mengelola kegiatan serupa. Kesimpulan: Pelatihan ini mampu meningkatkan kemampuan masyarakat Dusun VII Kampung Rukti Harjo Kecamatan Seputih Raman Lampung Tengah dalam mengelola Pojok Baca Saraswati.

Abstract

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) diversity is influenced by biotic and abiotic factors. Several studies have shown the presence of AMF in ex-gold mining areas with low soil fertility and heavy metal accumulation. The purpose of this study was to analyze the diversity of AMF species in artisanal gold mining areas. The experimental design used is randomized group design with two treatment factors: the interval distance range from tailings disposal point (A) and the vegetation type (B). Interval distance treatment consisted of two levels (A1: 0-10 m and A2: 10-20 m). Vegetation type treatment (B) consists of three levels (B1: Theobroma cacao, B2: Mangifera indica, B3: Artocarpus heterophyllus). Some types of AMF spores found are Acaulospora sp. 1, Acaulospora sp. 2, Acaulospora sp. 3, Acaulospora sp. 4, and Acaulospora sp. 5. The index of species richness and diversity of AMF species in the artisanal gold mining area is low. The existence of AMF symbiosis with plants in artisanal gold mining areas is also indicated by the presence of colonization in the roots of T. cacao, M. indica, and A. heterophyllus with a low to medium category. Pearson correlation test results showed that AMF species diversity index and P availability were not correlated (r = -0.204, p-value = 0.699). Pearson correlation test results also show that AMF colonization and P availability are not correlated (r = -0.756, p-value = 0.082). Although not correlated, based on the graph, it can be seen that the higher the available P element, the smaller the index value of species diversity and AMF colonization.
