Abstract

Project delays are an event that often occurs in every project, especially projects with the scope of Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) in Indonesia. Many factors affect the slowness of the project so that the performance of a project will not run well if supervision and control are not carried out. The purpose of this study is to find out what are the factors that cause delays, make modeling using dynamic systems and how to make effective managerial suggestions to accelerate project performance. This research method uses mixed methods. The results of this study there are 3 factors that cause delays in the project, starting from the largest factor based on the results of the mean rank analysis is the Construction factor, followed by Procurement, and finally Engineering. In the Construction Factor, five main indicators were taken to cause the delay in the Petreleum Gas Liquid Tank EPC project in Kupang which occurred because the material did not meet specifications, work was stopped due to design changes, delays in project manager decision making, differences of opinion between contractors and consultants, and poor construction quality. Managerial advice in this study is to improve the quality of Human Resources and improve communication networks, tighten the control function and evaluate periodically.

Abstract

Introduction: This study aimed to characterize the physicochemical properties of forage sago starch using a microwave with different moisture content, namely 20%, 25%, and 30%. Method: A randomized non-factorial design was used with four treatment levels, namely native starch, HMTMW20, HMTMW25, and HMTMW30. Furthermore, the analyzed parameters were moisture and ash content, water and oil absorption, swelling power, and solubility. Result: The results showed that moisture content of forages (9.35-12.20%) was lower than native starch (13.08%), ash content of sago starch forages (0.15-0.23%) was lower than native sago starch (0.30%), water absorption of HMTMW sago starch (216.19-317.47%) was higher than native sago starch (222.07%). Furthermore, the absorption of HMTMW sago starch oil (189.73-208.40%) was higher than native starch (176.53%), swelling power value of HMTMW sago starch (23.33-31.90%) was relatively lower than native sago starch (33.07%), solubility of HMTMW sago starch (12, 38-18.47%) was relatively lower than native sago starch (21.00%). Conclusion: HMTMW with different initial moisture content (20, 25, and 30%) using 40% power for 15 minutes caused changes in the physicochemical properties of sago starch. In addition, higher concentrations of the initial treatment caused an increase in moisture content and water and oil absorption, while ash content, swelling power, and solubility decreased.

Abstract

PT Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) is the largest container port in Indonesia. Currently, JICT capacity is 2.5 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) per year, it continues to strive to improve international services and is supported by adequate container loading and unloading equipment. The requirement to establish common standards in different types of container port equipment and identify performance indicators to assess the performance of container handling equipment has increased. Although the Quay Container Crane (QCC) operating system may be different at each container terminal, there are similarities in its main movements, namely: Main Hoist, Trolley, Gantry, and Boom. By knowing the clock metric for each movement, it is possible to determine the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) that has been adopted and assess the performance of the Quay Container Crane (QCC). The results of the study identified that the value of MMBF (Mean Move Between Failures) decreased due to the accumulation of long-lasting heavy load operations, while the number of maintenance activities for machine parts and working hours continued to increase. Key Performance Indicator (KPI) as a management tool can guide QCC inspections and the results can provide useful insights for improving the performance of equipment and container loading and unloading operations in the future.

Abstract

COVID-19 with a snap into a very influential factor in all sectors of the economy worldwide. The decrease in demand is also strongly felt in the manufacturing sector in Indonesia, even there are some factories were forced to have to lay off thousands of employees because it is not able to pay the salaries of employees. The opposite condition was experienced by PT PQS Indonesia, which experienced an increase in demand by 40% compared to the average demand for 6 months before COVID-19, because some of the company's branches in other countries had stopped production because they had to follow local government policies. Eventually all orders were sent to be produced at PT PQS Indonesia. The increase in demand does not mean that PT PQS Indonesia did not experience obstacles during the COVID-19 pandemic, the problem faced was the decline in delivery performance from suppliers, which impacted on the reduced stock of raw material stock and could even lead to production stops. This is because the suppliers were affected by Covid-19. This is a challenge because PT PQS has dozens of suppliers at home and abroad. To repeat this so that production does not stop, PT PQS Indonesia added a feature to help control supplier delivery performance. In 2018 the average delivery performance is only 60% — 70%, and the management target is 90% for local suppliers and 85% for overseas. This “Supplier Delivery Performance” feature really helps the procurement team to control the arrival of goods and provide information to suppliers related to their delivery performance, as well as being one of the index KPIs to evaluate supplier performance for one year before the Annual Vendor Meeting is held. To create a “Supplier Delivery Performance” index, PT PQS must also create SOPs or standardize them so that all relevant suppliers and procurement teams can easily understand them.

Abstract

Continuous Passive Motion (CPM) is a therapeutic tool to assist patients in moving their joints after the patient has experienced trauma or underwent joint surgery. The CPM machine is used to avoid joint stiffness in the patient. Joint stiffness can be caused because patients who have undergone joint surgery are reluctant to move their joints due to pain. The design of the CPM machine that will be carried out has motion in flexion and horizontal abduction. The choice of the type of DC motor as the driving force for the CPM machine will determine the ability (performance) of the CPM in carrying out the rehabilitation process for postoperative knee fractures. Movements in restoring and improving the range of motion of the elbow are flexion movements, extension movements, pronation movements and supination movements. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is one motor that meets the standards that can be used as a driving motor for Portable Continuous Passive Motion (CPM), namely the HY-2705B type motor. The HY-2705B motor meets minimum standards in terms of motor torque, motor rotation angle, working voltage, motor working temperature, and motor weight. For the other three motors Motor MG995, Motor 24H2A4428, and Motor DS3225MG there is one standard that is not met.     Keywords: Continuous Passive Motion, CPM, Fracture, HY-2705B, MG995, 24H2A4428, DS3225MG ABSTRAK  Continuous Passive Motion (CPM) merupakan alat terapi untuk membantu pasien dalam menggerakkan sendi setelah pasien mengalami trauma atau menjalani operasi sendi.

Abstract

Dowry is very important and determining in the traditions of certain social groups. although with different names and methods. The dowry is determined based on an agreement between the man and woman by their respective traditions and customs. However, dowry is often considered a buying and selling transaction as compensation for losses suffered by the woman. This concept of dowry was also implemented by ancient Jewish society in the Old Testament. This shows that dowry has been done since ancient times. Apart from that, the concept of dowry is also carried out by the Batak tribe, known as Sinamot. Therefore, this research aims to explain the concept of dowry in the Old Testament and the concept of sinamot in Toba Batak society. This research uses a qualitative ethnographic method that explains the concepts of dowry and sinamot and the correlation between the two. The data sources used are literature, books, and scientific journals. Giving a dowry cannot be equated with a buying and selling transaction between a prospective husband and a girl's parents. The dowry can be used as a form of appreciation for women and can be used as savings if something happens in the marriage. Likewise, the concept of sinamot is not only used as a dowry but also as a wedding expense. But most importantly, sinamot is used as a bond between clans and as a form of appreciation for the bride.
