Abstract

This study presented the scheduling of a Type 78 house construction project using the Critical Path Method implemented in Microsoft Project. The research defined and sequenced all construction activities, estimated their durations based on field data, and modeled the schedule within the software. The CPM analysis revealed a total project duration of 120 days, with site preparation, structural framing, and roofing installation identified as the critical path activities. Non-critical tasks were found to have total floats of up to 15 days, indicating opportunities for resource reallocation and schedule compression. By simulating task overlaps and adjusting resource assignments, the study demonstrated a potential reduction in overall completion time by approximately 10%. The results confirmed that applying the Critical Path Method in Microsoft Project enhanced schedule visibility, facilitated proactive delay management, and provided practical guidance for optimizing residential construction timelines.

Abstract

One of the main challenges in the development of Patane is the lengthy implementation time due to a lack of structured and efficient time planning. This research focuses on streamlining the time needed to construct Patane, a traditional burial site of the Torajan people, by utilizing the Critical Path Method (CPM) in combination with Microsoft Project and QM for Windows software. This study aims to optimize the duration of the Patane development project by using a systematic time management approach. A descriptive quantitative methodology was used to evaluate six interconnected phases of the project, ranging from initial preparation to the final touches. The findings indicated that every activity in the project is part of the critical path, with a total float of zero, leading to an overall project timeline of 84 days. This study underscores the importance of time management tools in culturally focused construction endeavors that encompass intricate social and spiritual aspects. Implementing CPM allows for more organized, effective, and precise project planning and execution, while respecting the cultural values of the Torajan community

Abstract

This study examines the efficiency of the implementation time of a single floor shophouse construction project in Samarinda City, through the application of the Critical Path Method (CPM). Secondary data in the form of a project implementation schedule was analyzed by preparing a work network diagram, calculating Earliest Event Time (EET) and Latest Event Time (LET), and identifying the critical path. The results of the analysis show that the duration of project implementation with normal time reaches 121 days, while with an accelerated scenario (quick time) can be cut to 87 days. The critical path consists of the sequence of activities A (preparation) → B (foundation) → C (structure) → D (wall) → E (roof) → G (harmonica door) → H (bathroom) → I (septic tank) → J (canopy) → K (electrical installation) → L (painting) → M (finishing), so that these activities become the main focus of control to avoid delays. Strategic recommendations include optimizing resource allocation, rescheduling non-critical activities, and implementing fast-track and overlapping work to shorten the implementation duration without compromising construction quality

Abstract

The sociology of knowledge examines how the subjective thoughts and ideological backgrounds of intellectuals influence their perception and understanding of reality. Ideological biases often shape their analysis, creating a gap between perceived and objective truth. This study aims to explore how these subjective conditions affect the ability of intellectuals to attain objective consciousness and the development of scientific knowledge within the framework of the sociology of knowledge. Employing a phenomenological qualitative approach, the research captures perceptions through interpretive analysis, drawing on the theories of Karl Mannheim and Clifford Geertz to analyze the interaction between cultural systems, ideology, and knowledge construction. The findings reveal that ideological influences significantly shape how intellectuals interpret facts and social phenomena, often leading to partial or biased understandings that hinder objectivity. The sociology of knowledge serves as a crucial tool in unveiling these subjective influences, encouraging self-awareness among researchers regarding their social and cultural conditioning. The conclusion emphasizes that achieving objective consciousness necessitates an awareness of the social and ideological factors that shape perceptions. The discipline offers vital insights into the relationship between subjective beliefs and objective realities, advocating for reflexivity and contextual understanding in scientific inquiry to foster a more accurate and comprehensive grasp of social phenomena.
