Abstract

This study aims to describe the mathematical connection abilities of ninth-grade junior high school students in solving story problems on probability. The aspects examined include connections among mathematical concepts, links to other disciplines, and relevance to daily life. A descriptive qualitative approach was applied to 22 students at a junior high school located in Tapung Hilir District. Data were collected through essay-based tests and semi-structured interviews, with three students selected to represent high, medium, and low levels of mathematical connection ability. Results showed that 9 students were categorized as high, 9 students as medium, and 4 students as low. Students in the high category demonstrated a strong conceptual understanding, although they lacked systematic problem-solving strategies. Medium-level students showed comprehension yet required guidance. Low-level students struggled to interpret story problems and relate them to probability concepts. These findings emphasize the need for contextual learning and structured practice to enhance students’ mathematical connection abilities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan hasil belajar matematika siswa serta menganalisis karakteristik jawaban siswa pada materi statistika setelah mengikuti pembelajaran menggunakan model Teams Games Tournament (TGT) berbantuan media Wordwall. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 27 siswa kelas X Agrihan 1 SMK Negeri Pertanian Terpadu Kota Pekanbaru. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes tertulis berupa empat soal uraian yang mencakup materi penyajian data berkelompok, diagram titik, histogram, serta ukuran pemusatan data. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 7 siswa (25,93%) berada pada kategori tinggi, 15 siswa (55,56%) berada pada kategori sedang, dan 5 siswa (18,52%) berada pada kategori rendah. Analisis jawaban siswa menunjukkan bahwa siswa pada kategori tinggi mampu menyelesaikan soal secara sistematis, menerapkan konsep statistika dengan tepat, serta menginterpretasikan data secara benar. Siswa pada kategori sedang telah menguasai prosedur penyelesaian, namun masih melakukan beberapa kesalahan pada aspek ketelitian dan interpretasi data. Sementara itu, siswa pada kategori rendah masih mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami konsep dasar statistika, memilih prosedur penyelesaian, dan menerapkan rumus yang sesuai. Hasil penelitian memberikan gambaran mengenai karakteristik kemampuan siswa pada materi statistika sehingga dapat menjadi dasar bagi guru dalam merancang pembelajaran dan tindak lanjut yang lebih sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa. This study aimed to describe students' mathematics learning outcomes and analyze the characteristics of students' responses in statistics after participating in learning through the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) model assisted by Wordwall. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The participants were 27 students of Class X Agrihan 1 at SMK Negeri Pertanian Terpadu Pekanbaru. Data were collected through a written test consisting of four essay questions covering grouped data presentation, dot plots, histograms, and measures of central tendency. The data were analyzed using the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that 7 students (25.93%) were categorized as having high learning outcomes, 15 students (55.56%) were in the moderate category, and 5 students (18.52%) were in the low category. Students in the high category demonstrated systematic problem-solving skills, accurate application of statistical concepts, and appropriate data interpretation. Students in the moderate category generally understood the solution procedures but still made errors related to accuracy and data interpretation. Meanwhile, students in the low category experienced difficulties in understanding fundamental statistical concepts, selecting appropriate procedures, and applying statistical formulas correctly. These findings provide a comprehensive description of students' characteristics in solving statistical problems and may serve as a reference for teachers in designing more appropriate instructional and follow-up strategies.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan kemampuan problem solving mahasiswa dengan menerapkan PBMCCS. Metode penelitian yang akan digunakan adalah Mixed Method dengan strategi eksplanatoris sekuensial dan desain penelitiannya adalah equivalent control group pretest–posttest design. Populasi penelitian adalah mahasiswa program studi pendidikan matematika Universitas Islam Riau. Sampel penelitian diambil dengan teknik total sampling. Instrumen penelitian adalah lembar RPP berbasis PBMCCS dan Lembar Kerja Mahasiswa (LKM) terintegrasi kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis (KPMM). Instrumen pengumpulan data kuantitatif melalui instrumen tes KPMM, dan instrumen wawancara untuk data kualitatif. Teknik analisis data dilakukan secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Analisis data dilakukan untuk data kuantitatif dilakukan analisis statistik inferensial dengan pengolahan menggunakan bantuan Microsoft Excel dan SPSS versi 20, sedangkan data kualitatif dianalisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif kualitatif dengan melakukan triangulasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis mahasiswa yang mendapatkan Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah dengan Cognitive Conflict Strategy secara keseluruhan, dan berdasarkan level curiosity matematis, terdapat peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis mahasiswa untu level tinggi dan rendah. Dari hasil wawancara diperoleh informasi bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa memahami apa yang ditanyakan soal, apa langkah yang dilakukan dan memeriksa kembali jawaban yang diberikan, namun sebagian kecil mahasiswa masih kesulitan dalam menentukan langkah atau teorema apa yang dipakai dalam penyelesaian soal yang diberikan. Kesimpulan terdapat peningkatan kemampuan problem solving matematis mahasiswa melalui pembelajaran berbasis masalah dengan cognitive conflict strategy berdasarkan keseluruhan dan level curiosity matematis mahasiswa.

Abstract

The Guru Penggerak Program (PGP) represents a strategic initiative by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology designed to empower teachers as agents of change and to promote transformation and innovation in school-based educational management. This study aims to examine teachers’ perceptions of the PGP, identify barriers encountered during its implementation, and explore the program’s contributions to enhancing teacher professionalism and school governance. Employing a qualitative descriptive design, data were collected through Focus Group Discussions (FGD), interviews, observations, documentation, and a perception questionnaire. The participants consisted of 64 junior high school teachers in Pekanbaru City. The findings reveal that 43.3% of respondents strongly agreed and 42% agreed that the PGP supports educational management transformation and innovation. The program is perceived as strengthening leadership competencies, professional growth, collaborative culture, and learning quality. Despite these positive outcomes, challenges persist, particularly related to limited program follow-up and insufficient structural support.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' mathematical literacy skills in solving problems related to the Pythagorean Theorem from a gender perspective. The mathematical literacy indicators employed in this study include: (1) identifying mathematical statements and questions; (2) representing the identified information by interpreting and using tables, diagrams, or figures; (3) constructing mathematical models based on the given problems; (4) applying the mathematical models to solve the problems; and (5) drawing conclusions supported by appropriate reasoning. This study adopted a qualitative approach involving 35 students, comprising 18 male students and 17 female students. Data were collected through an essay-based mathematical literacy test and semi-structured interviews. The findings indicate that female students demonstrated higher mathematical literacy skills than male students across all assessed indicators of mathematical literacy.
