Abstract

This study aims to develop Big Book learning media with the See Think Wonder approach in improving early literacy of children aged 5-6 years. The method used is research and development (R&D) with the ADDIE model, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The results showed that the use of Big Book media can improve children's literacy skills, including vocabulary recognition, story comprehension, and communication skills. Children can make simple sentences from the vocabulary they hear and retell the content of the story in their own language, reflecting their understanding. Teacher observations show that the See Think Wonder approach is effective in increasing children's vocabulary, with each child adding three to five new words. In addition, the children also practiced their imagination and cognitive training through the questions asked, whether related to the story or not. Thus, this approach not only improves expressive language skills but also builds children's confidence in communicating. This study concludes that See Think Wonder-based Big Book media can significantly improve early literacy in young children, with an increase in vocabulary, the ability to make sentences, and the ability to ask questions. These results show the importance of using interesting and interactive media in early childhood education to support optimal literacy development

Abstract

Objective: This study evaluates kindergarten (TK) teachers' readiness to implement technology-integrated pedagogy using the TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) framework. The TPACK framework combines three key dimensions: content knowledge (CK), pedagogical knowledge (PK), and technological knowledge (TK). These dimensions are essential for teachers to design and implement practical learning experiences that leverage technology. Methodology: This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach involving 50 respondents, including 40 teachers and 10 principals from kindergarten/PAUD schools in three regencies/cities in West Java: Bekasi City, Bogor Regency, and Depok City. Data were collected through a questionnaire based on TPACK aspects, namely technological knowledge (TK), pedagogical knowledge (PK), content knowledge (CK), and the integration of all three dimensions (TPACK). The data were analyzed using statistical techniques to assess teachers' readiness for integrating technology into the learning process. Findings: The findings reveal that many teachers demonstrate strong readiness in content and pedagogical knowledge. However, there is a notable gap in their mastery of technology and its application in teaching. Age, teaching experience, and access to technology training significantly influence teachers' readiness to implement the TPACK framework. Conclusion: The study concludes that while teachers possess an adequate understanding of pedagogy and content, there is a pressing need to enhance their technological skills through ongoing training and support. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of developing training programs to improve technology-related competencies for kindergarten/PAUD teachers. Such initiatives are crucial to fostering innovative teaching practices that align with the demands of modern education. Keywords: teacher readiness, pedagogy integrated technology, TPACK, education early childhood.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i3.2024149

Abstract

During critical periods, a child's cognitive, social, emotional, and language development is essential for their growth and development. The development of these skills involves cognitive, emotional and social skills, which are influenced by various factors such as IQ, EQ, SQ and RQ. The utilization of technology in education is an important approach. One of the technologies that can be used is the wordwall application. The utilization of this technology was chosen because when students listen to stories told by the teacher in class through picture storybooks, children do not focus on listening so that the meaning or content in the contents of the storybook that is read is not understood by students. After five to ten minutes, the children are already running around looking for more interesting things. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of wordwall application on language, social and emotional development of early childhood. The research method used is the experimental method, with a pre-assessment and post-assessment research design, while the type of research is quantitative whose research results are: 1) Wordwall application has an effect on early childhood language development with the results of research p value of 0.016 <0.05, 2) Wordwall application affects early childhood social development with the results of research p value of 0.017 <0.05, 3) Wordwall application affects early childhood emotional development with the results of research p value of 0.007 <0.05.

Abstract

This research focuses on efforts to bridge the gap between physical education theory and teaching practice by implementing audio-visual media in the classroom. This study is a systematic literature review that evaluates the effectiveness of using audio-visual media in physical education teaching from 2020 to 2024. The theories bridged include visual learning theory and learning motivation theory, which are integrated into teaching practice through instructional videos, animations, and multimedia presentations. This research examined 21 studies involving secondary school students from various regions and countries, with a total of 1789 students participating. The study results show that using audio-visual media in physical education can significantly increase student motivation and involvement. However, implementing this media still faces various challenges, such as teachers' lack of understanding of technology, limited access to audio-visual devices, and inadequate training. To address this, the research recommends increasing specific teacher training on using audio-visual media, providing more comprehensive access to such technology, and supporting policies that encourage technology integration in physical education curricula. Thus, this research emphasizes integrating audio-visual media in physical education to bridge theory and practice and improve the quality of learning and student learning outcomes. This research also suggests concrete steps for implementation, such as ongoing training programs for teachers and regular evaluation of the effectiveness of using audio-visual media in the classroom.

Abstract

In today's era of digital transformation and artificial intelligence, executive function skills and adaptive character are crucial competencies for students to face complex future challenges. Teaching that integrates interactive media based on smart technology with a spiritual values approach is seen as an effective and creative strategy to cultivate these skills from an early age. Although previous research has focused on basic digital literacy, evaluation of the impact of teaching that combines cognitive and spiritual aspects holistically is still limited. This study aims to develop and test the effectiveness of an instructional system based on the AEWake model through a smart puzzle barcode hijaiyah media designed to stimulate executive function while instilling an Islamic Growth Mindset. Using a Research and Development (R&D) method with an adapted development model, the study involved 90 early childhood children as test subjects. Data collection techniques were carried out through structured observations based on the AEWake instrument and digital documentation, which were then analyzed using inferential statistics to measure the media's effectiveness. The results showed that the use of this instructional media had a significant positive impact on improving children's directed attention, self-control, and cognitive flexibility. The findings revealed that digital scaffolding through interactive content was a key variable influencing learning success, while the use of recycled materials was shown to increase sensory comfort without reducing the effectiveness of the technology. It is concluded that the integration of AI-enabled technology and Islamic values is able to support sustainable cognitive and character development in the PAUD environment.
