Abstract

Religious moderation has become a strategic agenda in Islamic education, particularly in pesantren-based madrasas that integrate formal schooling with traditional religious culture. This study aims to analyze how values of religious moderation are integrated into Pesantren-based Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) through the interaction of the formal curriculum, teacher strategies, and pesantren culture as a hidden curriculum. Employing a qualitative research design, the study was conducted at MTs Negeri 1 Probolinggo using interviews, observations, and document analysis as data collection techniques. The findings reveal four main points: (1) the formal curriculum provides a normative and structural framework for embedding religious moderation values; (2) teacher strategies play a central role in internalizing these values through exemplary behavior and contextual pedagogical approaches; (3) pesantren culture functions as a hidden curriculum that continuously reinforces moderation values through daily practices, traditions, and social interactions; and (4) the integration of religious moderation values occurs in a cyclical and interconnected process rather than a linear one. In conclusion, the study demonstrates that the effective integration of religious moderation in pesantren-based madrasas requires a synergistic relationship between curriculum design, pedagogical practice, and institutional culture to ensure the sustainability of moderate religious values.

Abstract

Qira’ah al-Kutub instruction in higher education has long been dominated by translation-oriented practices that emphasize grammatical decoding rather than interpretive understanding, limiting students’ critical engagement with classical Arabic texts. In the context of increasing AI integration in education, it is important to develop pedagogical models that strengthen, rather than replace, human interpretive judgment. This study therefore aims to investigate and analyze how and to what extent human–AI co-regulation can enhance students’ comprehension and interpretation of classical Arabic texts in Qira’ah al-Kutub learning. Employing a research and development approach, the study implemented a co-regulated instructional design that integrates AI-assisted linguistic analysis with instructor mediation, peer negotiation, and reflective learning activities. Participants were 56 (fifty-six) undergraduate students enrolled in a Qira’ah al-Kutub course in an Islamic Education Program of Universitas Islam Indonesia. Data were collected through reading comprehension assessments, student response questionnaires, reflective writings, and analyzed using research and developments methods. The findings indicated that human–AI co-regulation facilitates a shift from literal translation strategies toward interpretive, contextual, and reflective reading practices. Rather than fostering cognitive dependency, AI functioned as a provisional analytical partner that enhanced students’ critical engagement when guided by pedagogical mediation. This study contributes to the field by demonstrating that the educational value of artificial intelligence in classical text learning lies in instructional design rather than technological capability alone. The proposed model offers a principled framework for responsible AI integration in humanities-based language education and provides practical implications for Qira’ah al-Kutub instruction in higher education.

Abstract

Pembelajaran Fiqih di madrasah masih sering didominasi metode ceramah sehingga peserta didik kurang terlibat aktif dan pembelajaran belum sepenuhnya bermakna. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan penerapan metode demonstrasi dalam pembelajaran Fiqih serta menganalisis kontribusinya terhadap pembelajaran bermakna peserta didik. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Madrasah Aliyah Nurul Yaqin Sumber Anyar, Paiton, Probolinggo dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode demonstrasi mampu meningkatkan keaktifan, pemahaman, dan motivasi belajar peserta didik. Peserta didik tidak hanya memahami materi secara teoritis, tetapi juga mampu mempraktikkan secara langsung konsep-konsep Fiqih, terutama pada aspek ibadah dan muamalah. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa metode demonstrasi efektif dalam menciptakan pembelajaran Fiqih yang bermakna. Implikasi penelitian menegaskan perlunya guru Fiqih mengembangkan metode pembelajaran yang variatif dan kontekstual agar materi lebih relevan dengan kehidupan nyata peserta didik serta kualitas pembelajaran meningkat.
