Abstract

Microplastics are plastic particles smaller than 5 mm that originate from anthropogenic activities or environmental degradation. The estuarine waters of the Kenyamukan River in Sangatta, East Kutai Regency, are highly vulnerable to microplastic contamination due to intensive local activities such as fishing port operations, residential settlements, docks, and tourism sites. This study aimed to analyze the types and forms of microplastics found in several fish species inhabiting the estuarine area. The research employed a descriptive–analytical approach, with sampling conducted from March to May 2025. Fish organs analyzed included the gills and digestive system, which were extracted using NaCl solution, 10% KOH, and 30% H₂O₂, followed by observation under a stereo microscope. The results revealed the presence of microplastics in goatfish (Parupeneus indicus), spotted scat (Scatophagus sp.), rabbitfish (Siganus guttatus), and golden snapper (Lutjanus johnii). The identified microplastic types consisted of fibers (52%), fragments (27%), films (12%), and pellets (9%), with a total of 173 particles. The microplastic sizes ranged from 0.0012 mm to 0.1399 mm and exhibited various colors, including black, red, yellow, blue, green, transparent, orange, and pink. These findings indicate a high level of microplastic contamination in the Kenyamukan River estuary, posing potential threats to the aquatic ecosystem and the trophic food chain.

Abstract

The results of observations conducted by researchers on February 2, 2025 with teachers at SMP Negeri 11 Samarinda show several problems, including the low critical thinking skills of students, learning outcomes that are not optimal, and the lack of use of digital media and innovative learning models. This condition causes students to have difficulty in understanding the learning material delivered by the teacher. This study aims to determine the influence of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model based on Reading, Questioning, and Answering (RQA) on students' critical thinking skills and learning outcomes by using the Wordwall application at SMP Negeri 11 Samarinda. The research method used is a correlational method with a quantitative approach. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling with classes VII-I and VII-H as research samples. Data analysis using t-test. After applying the RQA-based PBL learning model in class VII-H as an experimental class and given a critical thinking ability test and a learning outcome test, the average score of the experimental class was higher than the control class. The results of the data analysis showed that in the control class, the level of significance of critical thinking skills was 0.000 < 0.05 and learning outcomes were 0.002 < 0.05. This shows that the application of the RQA-based PBL learning model has a significant effect on improving students' critical thinking skills and learning outcomes on ecology and biodiversity materials at SMP Negeri 11 Samarinda. These findings prove that the application of the RQA-based PBL model is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills and learning outcomes.

Abstract

The average biology learning outcomes of eleventh-grade students at MA Negeri 1 Samarinda are still below the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM), while innovative learning models such as POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) have never been implemented. Biology learning has been mostly based on lectures, discussions, assignments, and practicums, while scientific attitude assessments are only taken from daily life and practicum activities. This condition requires the implementation of a model that can actively involve students to encourage scientific attitudes and science process skills (SPS). This study aims to determine the effect of the POE model on the scientific attitudes and SPS of eleventh-grade students on the sensory system material. The method used is a quasi-experimental design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design, involving class XI-F as the experiment and XI-D as the control. The research instruments are scientific attitude questionnaires and SPS tests. The results of the analysis show significant differences between the experimental and control classes in scientific attitudes (p < 0.05) and SPS (p < 0.05 with the Mann Whitney U test). Improvements in scientific attitudes were demonstrated by an N-gain of 0.35 (moderate) in the experimental class and 0.19 (low) in the control class. Meanwhile, the N-gain of the Student-Based Learning (KPS) reached 0.60 (moderate) in the experimental class and 0.29 (low) in the control class. The conclusion of this study is that the POE model effectively improves the scientific attitudes and science process skills of eleventh-grade students at MA Negeri 1 Samarinda.

Abstract

Green lettuce (Lactuca sativa) is a horticultural crop that is becoming increasingly popular due to its high nutritional content. This plant plays an important role in improving the nutritional intake of the community. This study aimed to determine the effect of using eco-enzyme on the growth of green lettuce plants and to identify the best concentration. The research was conducted from June to August 2025 on a limited area using the wick hydroponic system located on Jalan Abdul Wahab Syahrani, Gang Wangi, Gunung Kelua, Air Hitam, Samarinda City, East Kalimantan Province. This study used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of five treatments, each repeated five times, namely: P0 (control/1 L), P+ (control plus/AB mix 10 ml/L), P1 (EE 10 ml/L), P2 (EE 15 ml/L), and P3 (EE 20 ml/L). Data on plant height and number of leaves were analyzed using Two-way Multivariate Analysis of Variance (Two-way MANOVA) followed by the Bonferroni test at a 5% significance level. Meanwhile, the data on fresh weight were analyzed using One-way Analysis of Variance (One-way ANOVA). The results showed that eco-enzyme treatment had a significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, and fresh weight of green lettuce, with the best concentration obtained from treatment P1 (EE 10 ml/L).

Abstract

Warnasari Village in Bandung Regency has quite large tourism and local economic potential, but still faces challenges in terms of the quality of human resources, especially in the aspects of communication and service. Good customer service and communication skills are important factors in supporting business development, tourism and community services in general. This community service activity aims to improve communication and customer service skills for residents and members of the Warnasari Village youth organization. The methods used are interactive training, simulations, and questions and answers and discussions. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding of the importance of effective communication and excellent service as a support for improving the quality of tourism, as well as the emergence of motivation to apply these skills in daily activities. It is hoped that this activity can contribute to strengthening local capacity and developing village potential in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Analysis of Student Learning Difficulties in Learning Biology on Virus Material for Class XI SMAN 5 Samarinda in the 2023/2024 Academic Year. This research aims to describe and analyze learning difficulties and the factors that cause students' learning difficulties in viral material. This research uses a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The technique used in sampling in this research was purposive sampling with classes XI-2 and XI-3. The data analysis method in this research is descriptive statistics for analysis. The results of this research show that the factors causing students' learning difficulties come from internal factors amounting to 69% and external factors amounting to 65% belonging to the high influential criteria. The factor that causes the highest learning difficulties from internal factors is the talent indicator at 79%, while the factor that causes the highest learning difficulties from external factors is the teacher-student relationship indicator at 77%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana gangguan berbicara dysarthria pada anak usia 4-6 tahun di RA ‘Aisyiyah Ronowijayan, RA ‘Aisyiyah Beton I dan RA ‘Aisyiyah Brahu Siman Ponorogo. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan informan penelitian adalah kepala sekolah, guru, anak-anak dan  orang tua di RA ‘Aisyiyah Ronowijayan, RA ‘Aisyiyah Beton I dan RA ‘Aisyiyah Brahu Siman Ponorogo. Data yang diperoleh dari ketiga sekolah tersebut ada 7 anak yang mengalami gangguan berbicara dysarthria. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Sedangkan instrumen yang digunakan untuk pengumpulan data adalah lembar observasi untuk guru, anak dan lembar wawancara untuk kepala sekolah, guru serta orang tua di dalam penelitian ini. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan metode pengamatan dan metode simak. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari ketiga sekolah yang tersebut di atas adalah terdapatnya gangguan berbicara dysarthria pada anak usia 4-6 tahun yaitu terdapat 7  anak yang belum bisa mengucapakan tentang fonem-fonem (bunyi) huruf  yang tidak sempurna. Di RA ‘Aisyiyah Ronowijayan terdapat 2 anak yang mengalami gangguan dysarthria yaitu ananda HFZ dan FHR yang mengucapkan fonem “R” menjadi “RL”, di RA’ Aisyiyah Beton I terdapat 4 anak yang mengalami gangguan dysarthria yaitu ananda ABD dan YSF yang mengucapkan fonem “R” menjadi “RH”, ananda AVN yang mengucapkan fonem “R” menjadi “RL” serta ananda MSL yang mengucapkan fonem “S” menjadi “TS”. Selanjutnya di RA ‘Aisyiyah Brahu terdapat 1 anak yang mengalami gangguan dysarthria yaitu ananda PTR yang mengucapkan fonem “R” menjadi “Y”. Dysarthria adalah gangguan berbicara yang disebabkan oleh gangguan pada sistem saraf yang mengendalikan otot-otot yang digunakan dalam berbicara. Pada 5 anak (YSF, ABD, AVN, MSL, dan PTR), dysarthria disebabkan oleh faktor fisiologis seperti gangguan pendengaran, gangguan otak, dan gangguan pada wilayah mulut. Pada 2 anak (HFZ dan FHR), dysarthria disebabkan oleh faktor kesehatan atau keturunan seperti keterlambatan berbicara, gangguan pendengaran, dan faktor genetik. Penting untuk melakukan evaluasi dan terapi yang tepat sesuai dengan kebutuhan individu anak-anak tersebut.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of tomato paste on blood cholesterol in mice. It was an experimental study using a complete randomized study design consisting of four treatments P0, P1, P2, and P3 by giving tomato paste solution in a concentration of 0%, 20%, 40% and 80% and 6 replications. Data were analyzed using Anova one path and continued with BNT with a confidence level of 95%. The results showed that the tomato paste solution affected the blood cholesterol of mice due to Fhit (3.27) F tab (3.10) and the treatment that gave the greatest effect was on giving the concentration of tomato paste solution by 80%.

Abstract

The low understanding of concepts can be caused because the learning process is not maximized which makes students inactive, unable to think independently, more practical to find answers on the internet, and unable to express what they have learned. Digital School Books as a medium and learning model Survey, Question, Read, Reflection and Review (SQ4R) is an alternative that can activate students and make it easier to remember concepts so that learning is more meaningful. The purpose of this study was to describe the effect of the SQ4R learning model with digital school books on students' understanding of biology concepts in class VII at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah Nurussa'adah Sangkulirang Islamic Boarding School. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design. The study population was students of class VII, using cluster random sampling technique which produced class VII.B as the experimental class and class VII.A as the control class. The results of the data analysis showed that there was an influence of the SQ4R learning model with digital school books on the understanding of biology concepts for class VII students at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah Nurussa'adah Sangkulirang Islamic Boarding School.

Abstract

Shading causes differences in light intensity that trigger physiological and morphological variations in leaves, including stomata density and size as a form of adaptation to balance photosynthesis and transpiration. This phenomenon is the basis for selecting the research, because it illustrates the adaptive ability of plants to changes in the microenvironment in their natural habitat. This study aims to analyze the density and size of stomata of dicotyledonous plants growing in shaded and open areas in the Sempaja Arboretum. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach with samples of several dicotyledonous plant species growing in shaded and open areas. Data were obtained through microscopic observation of leaf epidermis preparations using direct section techniques, optilab, and image raster 3. Statistical analysis showed that the density of stomata in open areas was higher (480 stomata/mm²) than in shaded areas (323 stomata/mm²). However, the size of the stomata did not show a consistent pattern; The average length (25.21 µm) and width (18.45 µm) of stomata in the shaded area were slightly larger than those in the open area (24.16 µm and 17.18 µm). These results indicate that high light intensity encourages increased stomatal density as an adaptive mechanism to support photosynthesis.
