Abstract

Maninjau lake uses ships designed in a simple way without significant innovation from time to time. This case is caused by design methods that are based on hereditary knowledge from generations to generations, so that the ships that are made tend to have the same shape and size. Innovation is needed to get a higher level of efficiency and effectiveness on a ship. The innovation that needs to be done is the design of ships with a multi-hull shape or catamaran. The pre-design of the catamaran hull is based on using the comparation method as the dimension ratio of the ship, so that the dimensions of the ship are LWL = 4 m; LPP = 3.96 m; B = 1.7 m; B1 = 0.36 m; D = 0.7 m; d = 0.307 m. After that, testing the resistance (resistance) while determining the amount of Power needed. The next step is to analyze Stability and Seakeeping to determine the efficiency and effectiveness of the hull type. Analysis carried out on this type of hull was applied to several models, then the best hull design was found. Each design is distinguished by hull shape, but has the same displacement which is equal to 0.448 tons. The first model of the catamaran hull with the type of Flat Inside Symmetry; second with the type of symmetry Flat Outside; and the third type with gastric Asymmetry.

Abstract

The development of engineering materials has increased its use in various fields. The engineering material is particleboard made from areca fiber which is processed with technology. Areca fiber as waste has the potential to be used as an engineering material. The purpose of this study was to obtain the characteristics of the particleboard following the quality standards of JIS A 5908-2003 and SNI 03-2105-2006. The process of making particleboard by mixing particles of areca fiber and adhesive then compacting it. The adhesives used are tapioca and gambier. The concentration of areca fiber particles is 90%, 80%, 70%, and 60%. From this research, it was found that the characteristics of the particleboard using tapioca adhesive according to the quality standard and the gambier adhesive particle board did not meet the standard quality. This particleboard can be used as a raw material for making interior furniture instead of wood.

Abstract

The excessive use of wood as a raw material in furniture industries has raised environmental concerns that have attracted the attention of many individuals. Consequently, various innovations have been explored in developing alternative materials for the furniture industry. One promising resource that has the potential to be developed as a raw material for furniture applications is Nipah palm husk. Nipah palm husk is classified as an agricultural waste that is barely used within society and industries. Hence, in this study, Nipah palm husk will be utilized as the primary material to fabricate particle board by involving tapioca as an adhesive. This research aimed to investigate the effect of tapioca concentrations on water absorption, modulus elasticity, modulus of rupture, and screw-holding strength of the produced Nipah palm husk particleboard. The results of this study showed that the particle board produced with a 40% tapioca adhesive concentration exhibited the most favorable physical and mechanical properties with a water absorption rate of 25%, an elastic modulus of 21188.93 kg/cm2, a modulus of rupture of 55.53 kg/cm2, and a screw holding power of 7.53 kg. The findings indicated that Nipah-based particle board has the potential to be developed as an alternative for the furniture industry.

Abstract

Gaya belajar merupakan hal yang sangat penting bagi semua siswa, karena dapat mendorong mereka untuk mengembangkan motivasi belajar mereka. Gaya belajar yang berbeda dapat mendorong mereka untuk mengembangkan gaya belajar yang mereka sukai. Model Gaya Belajar VAK (Visual, Auditory dan Kinesthetic) dalam proses pembelajarannya memadukan tiga gaya belajar (Kinestetik, Visual, Auditory) menjadi satu model pembelajaran. Perpaduan ketiga gaya belajar tersebut mendorong pemahaman siswa terhadap materi. Penelitian ini membahas tentang implementasi Model Gaya Belajar Visual, Auditory Dan Kinesthetic (VAK) Di Pendidikan Kejuruan terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Dengan mengikuti metode PRISMA, diambil 15 artikel ilmiah dari tahun 2019-2024 yang berisi hasil penelitian tentang penerapan model gaya belajar visual, auditory dan kinesthetic (VAK) untuk dianalisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran Visual, Auditory dan Kineastetic dapat meningkatkan minat belajar, kemampuan berpikir kritis, kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa sehingga siswa dapat belajar secara mandiri dan mewujudkan lingkungan belajar yang kondusif.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the use of e-module learning media on student learning outcomes in the subject of Lathe Machining Engineering class XI at SMKS Dhuafa Padang. The background of this research is the limited teaching materials and short learning time, which requires students to learn independently. The research method used is quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest control group design. The research sample consisted of 35 students of class XI Machining Engineering who were divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected through learning outcome tests and analyzed using independent t-test. The results showed that: (1) the average pretest score of the experimental group was 54.77 and the control group was 61.67; (2) the average posttest score of the experimental group was 81.47 and the control group was 71.67; (3) there was a significant difference between the learning outcomes of the experimental and control groups (t = 0.549, p < 0.05). In conclusion, the use of e-modules is effective in improving student learning outcomes in Lathe Machining Engineering subjects. This study recommends the use of e-modules as an alternative learning media to improve student independence and learning outcomes.

Abstract

The use of A36 plate in the construction sector is closely related to connecting or welding between metals because it is useful in assembling a product to lighten human work. Examples of the use of A36 plate in the construction sector can be seen in trellis workshops, where this plate is often used as a support or support in making a balcony or canopy. However, sometimes workers do not understand how strong the plate is after being treated with welding, often they just guess at the durability of the plate, so this can cause various kinds of losses. Starting from damage to work objects to causing work accidents that result in loss of life. Therefore, this research examines the effect of variations in current strength on bending strength. This test was carried out on A36 plate material which was subjected to welding effects with varying currents of 80A, 100A, 120A and 140A. and a bending test was carried out using the ASTM E190-14 test standard, the results of this test were that at a current of 80A the bending strength value was 161.173 N/〖mm〗^2. Current 100A with a value of 229.851 N/〖mm〗^2. Current 120A with a value of 270.374 N/〖mm〗^2. And a current of 140A with a value of 374.839 N/〖mm〗^2. The test object with a current strength of 140A is the test object that has the highest bending strength value.

Abstract

The corn harvesting tractor is one of the innovations in agricultural technology. However, there is a problem where the harvesting blade is broken and wears out quickly. One of the factors causing the problem is the angle of inclination of the blade. The smaller the angle of inclination of the blade, the sharper it is but the risk of being easily broken and worn out. For this reason, it is necessary to test the value of the blade slope which has a good strength value. Before this knife is made directly, it is necessary to design and simulate the strength of the blade with a variety of angles. Experimental testing requires expensive costs and a lot of time. The simulation carried out is a static simulation with the finite element method in the solidwork application with AISI 1045 material and 87.05 N force load. The blade with an angle of 310 is the best angle with the maximum value of stress at the connection of the shaft and knife with a value of 20.664 MPa and the displacement results are at a maximum value of 0.018 mm.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan inovasi alat perontok biji jagung dengan sistem therese rotari, yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan efisiensi dan produktivitas dalam proses perontokan biji jagung bagi masyarakat di Jorong 4 Surabayo, Lubuk Basung. Permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh masyarakat setempat adalah keterbatasan alat yang efektif dalam memisahkan biji jagung dari tongkolnya secara cepat dan tepat. Oleh karena itu, alat therese rotari ini dirancang dengan konsep rotasi untuk memaksimalkan proses perontokan, mengurangi waktu yang diperlukan, serta meminimalisir tenaga kerja manual. Alat ini dilengkapi dengan mekanisme berputar yang memanfaatkan motor listrik sebagai penggerak utama, sehingga dapat digunakan oleh masyarakat dengan mudah. Hasil uji coba menunjukkan bahwa therese rotari mampu meningkatkan produktivitas hingga 70% dibandingkan metode manual tradisional. Inovasi ini diharapkan dapat memberikan dampak positif bagi masyarakat setempat, terutama dalam meningkatkan efisiensi dan pendapatan petani jagung.

Abstract

Engine Mounting atau dudukan mesin merupakan komponen penting yang terdapat pada mesin pembakaran dalam maupun mesin pembakaran luar yang memiliki fungsi untuk meredam getaran maupun kebisingan, dan menahan beban mesin. Setiap mesin pembakaran dalam tidak terlepas dari yang namanya getaran atau vibrasi, hal ini karena pada umumnya mesin pembakaran dalam menghasilkan gerak rotasi dan mengalami siklus berulang. Jika vibrasi sudah memasuki Natural Frequency dari suatu struktur bagian mesin, maka akan dapat menimbulkan kerusakan terhadap struktur komponen-komponen mesin. Natural frequency suatu objek tergantung pada karakteristik fisiknya seperti massa dan kekakuannya. Dalam penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui modus getar, dan nilai natural frequency dari engine mounting, hal ini sangat penting dilakukan untuk mencegah terjadinya resonansi pada engine mounting. Dalam penelitian ini model tiga dimensi struktur engine mounting dibuat menggunakan perangkat lunak CAD (Computer Aided Design) yaitu Solidworks Research License 2021-2022, dan prosedur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah FEA (Finite Element Analysis) pada software Solidworks Research License 2021-2022. Simulasi dilakukan dengan meshing sekitar 65.591 element mesh hasil simulasi solidworks menunjukkan bahwa natural frequency engine mounting berkisar antara 37,40 Hz hingga 177,28 Hz, dengan displacement maximum mencapai 0,562 dalam keterangan AMPRES pada modus 8. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya memilih frekuensi kerja mesin agar tidak berdekatan dengan natural frequency engine mounting. Selain itu, respon dinamis displacement maximum manunjukkan, perlunya perancangan yang cermat untuk mengurangi dampak vibrasi pada kinerja mesin. Penelitian lebih lanjut sebaiknya fokus pada pengembangan material dan desain yang dapat meminimalkan displacement maximum serta meningkatkan stabilitas struktur engine mounting

Abstract

This study examines the effect of implementing the Outcome Based Education (OBE) curriculum on the problem-solving abilities of Management Study Program students at the Faculty of Economics and Business, a university in Padang, Indonesia, focusing on the Information and Computer Technology course. The subjects were 60 students, and a correlational quantitative approach was used. Data analysis included descriptive analysis, normality test, linearity test, and linear regression test. Results showed normally distributed and linear data. The F-test yielded a value of 15.918 with a significance level of 0.000<0.005, indicating a significant influence of the OBE curriculum (X) on problem-solving ability (Y). The R Squared value of 0.215 indicates that the OBE curriculum accounts for 21.5% of the variance in students' problem-solving abilities, excluding other factors.   Keywords: Ability; curriculum; information and computer technology; outcome based education; problem solving
