Abstract

The pandemic period made the teaching and learning process carried out online, including being applied to the Physical Education, Health and Recreation (PJKR) Study Program of IKIP Budi Utomo Malang. However, this is considered less effective considering that lectures are mostly carried out in the field. This study aims to determine the difference in the level of learning motivation of students in the Physical Education, Health and Recreation (PJKR) Study Program in online and offline learning. This type of research is a descriptive comparative study with 427 students of the Recreational Health Physical Education Study Program (PJKR) IKIP Budi Utomo Malang class of 2018-2021 as respondents. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire filled out through a google form related to the level of student learning motivation which was carried out using the online method and the offline method. The results of the analysis using the Mann Whitney test showed that there was no significant difference (p>0.05) in intrinsic motivation between online and offline learning methods. Meanwhile, extrinsic motivation was significantly different (p<0.05). The conclusion is that students of the Recreational Health Physical Education Study Program (PJKR) have higher extrinsic motivation when learning is done offline.

Abstract

Basketball is a dynamic team sport that emphasizes hand coordination, requiring players to score by shooting the ball into the opponent’s hoop. The game involves five players per team and demands mastery of several fundamental technical skills, including throwing and catching, dribbling, shooting, pivoting, and lay-up techniques. One of the highest individual achievements in basketball is being named the Most Valuable Player (MVP), a title awarded to athletes who demonstrate exceptional performance during a game or tournament. This study aims to analyze the determining factors behind an athlete achieving MVP status, specifically focusing on LeBron James from the United States basketball team during the 2024 Paris Olympics final match against France. The research employs a descriptive method with data collection through document analysis, particularly using official match statistics. The assessment includes both physical performance metrics—such as points, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals, turnovers, and fouls—and psychological aspects, such as mental toughness during competition. Statistical data from the match showed that LeBron James recorded 14 points, 6 rebounds, 1 block, 10 assists, 2 steals, 5 turnovers, and 3 fouls. His shooting efficiency was also high, with a 60% field goal percentage (6/10), 62.5% on two-point shots (5/8), 50% on three-point shots (1/2), and 100% on free throws (1/1). The findings indicate that high contributions in both offensive and defensive aspects significantly influence the MVP designation. This study concludes that MVP recognition is strongly supported by measurable statistical performance and recommends that coaches integrate performance analysis technology to maximize athlete potential based on individual needs.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of giving three different exercise methods (Plyometric, SAQ, and Traning Circuit) on increasing leg muscle power and dolyo chagi kick speed in taekwondo athletes. The research design used pre and post design with a total of 18 Unesa student taekwondo athletes as research subjects. The subjects were divided into three groups (PLY, SAQ, and ST) consisting of 6 athletes each. The PLY group performs plyometric; The SAQ group performs Speed, Agility, and Quickness; and the ST Group performs circuit training. Interventions were given to each group with 18 meetings with a frequency of 3 times each week. Data analysis using manova test assisted with R studio software. The results of this study showed that the average value of the increase in leg power and kick speed was the highest in the SAQ group respectively 2.95±2.40 watts and 1.30±0.80 m/s. The manova test showed a p value of 0.1239 which means that there is no significant difference from the three training methods to leg power and kick speed. In conclusion, plyomeric training methods, SAQ, and training circuits can increase dolyo chagi leg power and kick speed in taekwondo athletes, but there is no significant difference in the improvement.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze injury risk management practices among amateur badminton athletes by exploring the perspectives of both coaches and athletes in the Grati Badminton Community, Pasuruan Regency. The research seeks to identify key factors influencing injury prevention, response, and recovery processes within community-level sports education. The study incorporates insights from a small circle of individuals who are actively engaged in the community’s training routine, providing a focused and in-depth view of how injury risks are recognized and handled. Data were collected using observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation techniques, then analyzed through thematic analysis to capture in-depth insights regarding knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to injury risk management. Findings indicate that injury risk management in the community remains largely reactive, with preventive strategies yet to be systematically implemented. Coaches tend to rely on personal experience rather than evidence-based guidelines, while athletes exhibit limited awareness of injury prevention and rehabilitation principles. The absence of standardized operating procedures (SOPs), inadequate medical support, and minimal educational interventions further exacerbate the problem. This study provides a valuable empirical perspective on how grassroots-level badminton communities in rural Indonesia manage injury risks. It highlights the importance of structured educational programs and collaborative efforts between coaches, athletes, and supporting institutions to create safer and more sustainable training environments for amateur athletes.
