Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of dormitory supervisors as agents of Islamic character transformation through the enforcement of student discipline in an Islamic boarding school environment. The study employed a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings reveal that dormitory supervisors play a significant role in fostering Islamic character through role modeling, habituation, supervision, and a dialogic-persuasive approach to discipline enforcement. Discipline was found to function not only as a mechanism for behavioral control but also as a means of internalizing Islamic values that promote responsibility, rule compliance, independence, and self-control among students. Furthermore, the integration of modern caregiving practices with local pesantren values strengthens the effectiveness of character development efforts. This study highlights that a dialogic-persuasive approach to discipline enforcement contributes to the transformation of students’ Islamic character and may serve as a model for strengthening character education in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Islamic Personal Development (IPD) program in fostering the character profile of Pancasila (CPP). The character of late childhood learners is still dynamic and responsive to environmental influences, so education is required for its development. One of the activities containing character education is the Islamic Personal Development program. This qualitative research uses a single case study design at non-government elementary schools in Bengkulu. The research data were collected through observations and interviews with the coordinator of Islamic Personal Development and class teachers. The data obtained were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman analysis model, including selecting data by the research objectives, presenting data in tables and narratives, and linking data and information with relevant research to find conclusions. This research found five character profiles of Pancasila in IPD activities organized in elementary schools, namely: i) the character of faith, devotion to God Almighty, ii) global diversity, iii) cooperation, iv) critical reasoning, and v) independence. Islamic Personal Development activities can be an option for the character profile of the Pancasila program in character development for late childhood learners.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Islamic character development model and the character values developed through the development process at PETAMA School, Malaysia. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and open-ended questionnaires involving teachers and students in a boarding school setting. Data were analyzed using data reduction, categorization, and thematic coding to identify the forms of development and the character values formed. The results indicate that Islamic character development is implemented through daily activities, social interactions, teacher role models, discipline reinforcement through rules, rewards, and sanctions, as well as continuous monitoring and evaluation. This process contributes to the development of religious character, discipline, responsibility, and social care in students, with religious character being the most dominant value developed. In its implementation, the development process still faces several obstacles, such as lack of student discipline, the influence of social media, language barriers, and poor memorization. To address these conditions, the school provides guidance through a personal approach, counseling, monitoring of mobile phone use, and periodic evaluation. This research demonstrates that the boarding environment plays a crucial role in supporting the internalization of Islamic character values through consistent and ongoing habituation

Abstract

This study explores the strategic role of Islamic Religious Education teachers in advancing multicultural education within schools and madrasas. Diversity in ethnicity, religion, race, and social class often creates potential tensions, making the presence of Islamic Religious Education teachers essential in cultivating tolerance and harmony. Through a literature review of the National Education Law and the Law on Teachers and Lecturers, combined with thematic analysis of previous research, this study highlights how teachers function as facilitators of multicultural learning. The findings reveal that teachers integrate multicultural values into learning objectives, strengthen Islamic character in instructional materials, apply cooperative learning methods to encourage teamwork, and utilize project-based evaluation to promote inclusivity. Beyond delivering religious content, Islamic Religious Education teachers nurture attitudes of tolerance, inclusivity, and respect for diversity. This research contributes to the development of pedagogical frameworks that empower teachers to implement multicultural education effectively, thereby supporting the creation of a harmonious and religiously grounded society.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of audiovisual media and its impact on improving learning outcomes in Quran and Hadith education among ninth-grade learners at an Islamic boarding school in Indonesia. The study employed the Kemmis and McTaggart Classroom Action Research model, conducted over two cycles consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The participants were 25 ninth-grade learners during the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through structured classroom observations and learning outcome tests and analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques. The findings indicate that the integration of laptop- and projector-based instructional videos increased learner participation and classroom engagement throughout the learning process. Learners' average achievement improved from 75.20 (36% mastery) in the first session to 87.40 (100% mastery) in the fourth session. These findings demonstrate that the systematic integration of audiovisual media effectively enhances both classroom engagement and learning outcomes in Quran and Hadith education. The study contributes empirical evidence supporting the use of audiovisual media as an instructional strategy in Islamic boarding school contexts.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low descriptive writing skills of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 20 Saning Bakar. Students still experience difficulties in determining main ideas, developing ideas, constructing coherent sentences, and using appropriate vocabulary in writing descriptive essays. Furthermore, students are less active and lack confidence during the Indonesian language learning process. This study aims to improve students' descriptive writing skills through the application of the mind mapping method. The type of research used was Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were seven fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 20 Saning Bakar. Data collection techniques were conducted through tests, observation, and documentation. Data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results showed that the application of the mind mapping method can improve students' descriptive writing skills. This is evident in the improvement in student learning outcomes in each cycle. The average student score in the pre-cycle phase was 59.29, with a learning completion rate of 29%. This increased in the first cycle to 71.43, with a learning completion rate of 71%. Furthermore, student activity and participation during the learning process also increased. Based on these research results, it can be concluded that the mind mapping method can improve the descriptive writing skills of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 20 Saning Bakar.

Abstract

Manual summative assessment is no longer relevant to the transformation of Islamic education in digital learning. Therefore, an easy, efficient assessment system is needed to support digital learning. The purpose of this study is to design an online summative assessment using Moodle, assisted by Android, to create an effective and efficient assessment. The research method used in this study is a mixed-method sequential explanatory design. A qualitative approach is used to design an online summative Moodle application with a digital literature study review. Meanwhile, a quantitative approach was used to test the effectiveness of the online summative model design in primary schools, with 10 learners from classes 4, 5, and 6. The data from the literature review were presented inductively to present the steps of the Android-assisted Moodle application in conducting online summative assessments. The data on the application of Moodle in summative assessment were analysed using a t-test in SPSS 20 to determine the effectiveness of Android-assisted Moodle in creating assessments that are both effective and efficient. Furthermore, the analysis results were linked to the theories of connectivism and remedial learning. This study found a formula for online summative design using the Android-based Moodle application with four steps, namely: (1) setting up the Moodle application by the school administrator using the localhost IP settings available on the router, (2) providing teacher accounts, (3) entering the names of learners taking the exam, and (4) learners accessing the Moodle application using Android devices with the same network as the administrator's server. The Moodle-based summative system has proven effective and efficient, with automated question entry and correction reducing printing costs and saving time. This research implies that it can be used as an e-learning medium for conducting assessments effectively and efficiently.
