Abstract

Background: The aim of this community development initiative, centered around community engagement, is to address the pressing issue of declining agricultural productivity due to pest infestations in the Asahan Regency, a developing area. Through educational and training programs, the initiative seeks to advocate for Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices and safe pesticide usage among farmers, while also addressing the environmental impacts of chemical pesticide use. Contribution: The primary focus is to gauge the impact of these initiatives in fostering sustainable and environmentally responsible agricultural practices in Asahan Regency, ultimately enhancing the overall well-being of the farming community. Method: A total of 50 farmers actively participated in these programs, all of whom derived substantial benefits that directly contributed to the improvement of their livelihoods. Results: The implementation of IPM with a community development approach has the potential to significantly enhance paddy rice productivity while promoting sustainable agriculture Conclusion: By involving the local community, improving pest control methods, reducing environmental impact, and fostering knowledge sharing, this approach can lead to positive outcomes for both farmers and the environment

Abstract

This research aims to analyze income inequality and subjective welfare in a region. This study uses microdata from household surveys to calculate income inequality. We conducted this survey using an identical questionnaire with a sample of adults. The sample size is around 100. One of the main findings of this study is that regions that were traditionally considered to have greater inequality no longer have this attribute when compared to regional and global levels. This reflects a shift in the pattern of inequality in the region. A positive correlation was also found between income inequality and subjective well-being, as well as a curve when comparing subjective well-being inequality with products. These results suggest that there is a complex relationship between these factors in the context of inequality. However, when compared with the level of subjective well-being, there is a very negative relationship, which may indicate an individual's preference to live in areas that are more egalitarian in terms of well-being. This indicates that subjective well-being perceptions are also influenced by factors other than income, such as access to facilities and services. Although these results are interesting, it is important to remember that this study has problems and limitations in terms of the survey and methods used. Therefore, these results should be interpreted with caution and can serve as a basis for further research to understand more deeply the relationship between income inequality, subjective well-being, and other factors that influence perceived well-being.

Abstract

As the highest leader in the plantation and factory, the manager controls both the positive and bad aspects of the plantation and factory. Understanding how leaders act and behave regarding their Heart, emotional intelligence, and spiritual intelligence, as well as how this relates to Performance, remains a rare phenomenon. Emotional and spiritual intelligence are directly associated with leading from the Heart. To address the gap in our understanding, this study examines the effect of a heart-centered leadership style on the productivity of oil palm plantation company managers. Previously, there has been little research on how this style relates to Performance. Indonesia's palm oil companies are pretty advanced and have cornered the global market. Applying heartfelt leadership is one technique to boost manager performance. This calls for research into how a compassionate leadership style affects the productivity of oil palm workers. This research makes use of the partial least squares technique. This study found that managers' Performance was unaffected by heartfelt leadership but that it did affect team members' happiness and company culture. When managers are happy, they perform better, but company culture has little effect. Leadership with the Heart indirectly affects manager performance through job satisfaction.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to examine the factors that led to the cessation of imports of certain varieties after the crisis. This analysis proposes four alternative working hypotheses. Data from 100 products was taken. Several influencing factors reveal the impact of the economic crisis on imported varieties. More expensive varieties tend to experience an increased probability of stopping importation. This may be due to a decrease in purchasing power during the crisis, which makes expensive products less desirable. Geographic distance also plays an important role. More distant countries produce varieties with a higher probability of stopping imports, this could be due to higher transportation costs for varieties from distant countries. Varieties with a larger market share originating from countries with higher incomes tend to be more stable in the market during the crisis. Likewise, additional per capita income limits the probability of stopping imports to only 3.7%. This suggests that varieties from countries with high incomes or those with large market shares may have competitive advantages that make them more resilient to the impact of economic crises. Reducing imported varieties can hurt consumer welfare because it can reduce product choices and increase prices. Short-term estimates indicate a 9.5% decline in consumer welfare from imported goods.

Abstract

This research aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the influence of business strategy on consumer behavior, especially upper and middle class consumers. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Research data was collected through interviews, field observations and documentation. The research results show that the management team of SMEs must improve and adjust their business strategy, this is absolute and must be done immediately because the current business strategy is considered to no longer meet market expectations. This strategy must be adjusted, reviewed and refined over time to attract upper middle class consumers who seek an exclusive shopping experience while maintaining a level of product and price diversity. The research results also suggest that SME managers understand the differences in shopping behavior between the lower class who focus on efficiency and price, and the upper middle class who are not sensitive to price changes and focus more on a more personalized shopping experience. Changes in social structure and macroeconomic factors, such as increasing incomes and decreasing unemployment, also influence purchasing power and demand. Management must adapt by adjusting its offerings and infrastructure to meet the needs of different market segments and be able to respond quickly to changes in social structure and demand which can be very varied and fluctuating.

Abstract

The use of innovative technology such as the barcode system has the potential to increase the efficiency of palm oil companies and support the realization of smart people. To better understand the impact of barcode system implementation, a qualitative study was conducted. In this study, a qualitative research method was used with a case study approach to explore the implementation of a barcode system in oil palm plantation companies. The qualitative research method was chosen because it can produce more in-depth data and prioritize face-to-face interviews with several informants to get a true and in-depth picture of various perspectives and situations. This study aims to determine the impact of implementing a barcode system on efficiency and smart people. This study used a sample of 4 companies. Based on validity, reliability, relevance of findings, contribution to knowledge and quality of writing, the success percentage of qualitative research is 83%. The results of the study show that the implementation of the barcode system has an impact on efficiency and improvement of human resources through the development of smart people. These findings can be useful for further development of the barcode system, and it is recommended that other palm oil companies adopt this technology.

Abstract

Liquid dishwashing soap is a liquid solution that contains surfactants that function to remove dirt, grease, and food residue from the surface of eating utensils such as plates, glasses, etc. The need for liquid dishwashing soap is increasing because it is easier to use, cleaner, and more hygienic. Currently, many basic ingredients for making liquid dishwashing soap are sold on the market, so people can make their own so that it is more economical and easier to obtain. This activity aims to improve the entrepreneurial spirit of vocational school students so that they can produce dishwashing soap products and market them through schools so that they can produce independent students after completing their schooling at vocational school by selling the liquid dishwashing soap products to the market or surrounding housewives. The training method for making dish soap products is the Production Based Training (PBT) method, a learning model that emphasizes direct practice and production. In this training, students will use materials and work tools in a simulated environment. This method is also carried out using theory classes, practical demonstrations, and guided exercises. In this training, liquid dishwashing soap was directly made using the necessary ingredients such as Texapon, Email Needle, Natrium Chloride (NaCl), Anti-Bacterial, Perfume Seeds, liquid/powder dye, and Mineral Water. This training process produces approximately 20 liters of liquid dishwashing soap. Apart from that, this dishwashing soap also has quite a large economic value so it can be a solution to improve the community's economy at a lower price compared to the price of factory production which is already sold on the market. This training can provide enthusiasm and stimulate entrepreneurship to vocational high school students.
