Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of discipline and work motivation on employe productivity at the Maros Regency Personnel and Human Resources Development Office. The method used is quantitative with a descriptive approach. The research sample consisted of 58 respondents, which included all employes at the office, using a saturated sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the SPSS program with multiple linear regression analysis to examine the influence of independent variables on work productivity. The research results indicate that work discipline has a positive and significant influence on employe productivity, with a calculated t-value of 6.848, which is greater than the t-table value of 1.67 and a significance level of 0.000. This means that the higher the employee's discipline, the more their work productivity increases. Work motivation also has a positive and significant effect with a calculated t-value of 7.851 and a significance level of 0.000, indicating that good motivation can drive improved employe performance. Simultaneously, work discipline and motivation have a significant effect on productivity with a calculated F-value of 64.012 > F-table value of 2.40 and a significance level of 0.000. Based on the Beta value, work motivation (0.587) has a more dominant influence than discipline (0.512). However, the coefficient of determination (R Square) value of 0.103 indicates that only 10.3% of the variation in work productivity can be explained by these two variables, while the remaining variation is influenced by other factors such as work environment, competence, and management support. In real-world conditions, even tho employes have good discipline and motivation, external factors also play an important role in increasing productivity. Therefore, human resource management must consider various aspects to improve overall performance.

Abstract

Abstract

The rapid development of Islamic banking in Indonesia faces significant challenges in maintaining liquidity and profitability amidst dynamic capital market conditions. The urgency of this study arises from the need to examine whether traditional financial ratios, such as the Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR) and Return on Equity (ROE), play a decisive role in influencing investment decisions, which are proxied by the Price to Earning Ratio (PER). The main objective of this research is to empirically test the effect of liquidity and profitability, both partially and simultaneously, on investment decisions in Islamic commercial banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2021–2025 period. This study adopts an associative design with a quantitative approach, utilizing secondary data from financial reports obtained from the IDX, and analyzed using multiple linear regression on 68 observation samples. The findings reveal that neither liquidity nor profitability significantly influence investment decisions, either partially or simultaneously. These results suggest that investors in the Islamic banking sector tend to prioritize non-financial factors such as sharia compliance, governance, macroeconomic conditions, and ESG trends, rather than conventional financial indicators. In conclusion, this research extends the understanding of the limitations of Signaling Theory in the sharia context and recommends the development of a more holistic investment evaluation model. Future studies are encouraged to incorporate non-financial variables for a more comprehensive analysis.
From Cash to Code: The Cultural Meaning of Financial Literacy among Women Traders in Makassar’s Traditional Markets Amin, Andi Mustika

Abstract

This qualitative phenomenological study explores how women traders in Makassar’s traditional markets experience and reinterpret financial literacy amid the cultural transition from cash-based to digital transactions. Drawing on in-depth interviews, participant observation, and focus group discussions across three major markets, the research conceptualizes financial literacy not merely as technical knowledge but as a relational and embodied practice rooted in trust, tactility, and moral economy. Findings reveal four major themes: (1) Tangibility and Embodiment of Value, where cash serves as sensory proof of labor and integrity; (2) Hybrid Trust Architectures, in which kinship and intergenerational mediation bridge confidence in digital systems; (3) Socially Situated Learning, where collective teaching through peer exchange sustains adaptive financial practices; and (4) Moral Reframing through Digital Visibility, where transaction records acquire new ethical significance as tools of proof and accountability. The study demonstrates that financial literacy evolves through communal learning, affective relationships, and moral negotiation, rather than through formal instruction alone. It argues that policies and fintech initiatives promoting financial inclusion must integrate cultural sensitivity, strengthen social mediators, and respect tactile economies to ensure sustainable adoption. Ultimately, the transition “from cash to code” represents not only a technological shift but a redefinition of value, trust, and moral responsibility in Makassar’s local markets.

Abstract

Micro-finance Access for Women Entrepreneurs in Makassar: A Phenomenological Study of Barriers and Survival Strategies Amin, Andi Mustika

Abstract

This study examines how women entrepreneurs in Makassar negotiate access to and use of microfinance in a limited socio-economic environment, using a humanistic economic perspective to promote dignity, agency, and relational outcomes. Qualitative interviews reveal that while microcredit supplies the short—term liquidity essential for day-to-day operations, formal lending is constrained by collateral demands, procedural complexity, the gender asset gap, and time poverty-forces that drive many women toward informal lending, Diversified Income Strategies, and emerging digital channels. Evidence from digital finance and platform research suggests that successful FinTech adoption depends on trust, usability, security, and perceived value, which shape whether digital options complement or replace conventional microfinance in local contexts. Field experiments on online mentoring show that carefully designed digital interventions can increase women's willingness to engage with mentor networks, but effective connections require platform support and user learning that reduces onboarding friction and builds trust. Complementary policy tools-small matching grants, time-saving subsidies (eg, childcare), and targeted business advisors-have been shown to reduce information and time constraints, increase formal credit acceptance, and improve corporate performance among female entrepreneurs, especially those with prior experience. Together, these findings argue for an integrated policy package that streamlines formal lending, embeds relational support and capability development, and leverages trustworthy digital interfaces so that microfinance improves economic resilience and human dignity for women-led microenterprises in Makassar.

Abstract

Abstract

This phenomenological study examines how women micro-entrepreneurs in Makassar’s informal economy construct and exercise financial agency amid persistent economic precarity. Grounded in a humanistic economic perspective, the research explores how women navigate financial risk and uncertainty through informal strategies, social capital, and adaptive resilience. Drawing on in-depth interviews, three superordinate themes emerged: (1) The Dual Nature of Social Capital, revealing that trust-based financial networks function simultaneously as safety nets and sources of moral burden; (2) Financial Improvisation as Agency, illustrating how women deploy creative financial practices—such as flexible budgeting and strategic concealment of profits—to retain control and autonomy; and (3) The Temporal Duality of Resilience, emphasizing the continuous oscillation between short-term survival priorities and long-term aspirations in an unstable market context. The findings demonstrate that financial decision-making in Makassar’s informal sector transcends conventional economic rationality, instead reflecting socially embedded, context-specific negotiations of agency and dependence. The study contributes theoretically to the discourse on women’s entrepreneurship by reframing financial agency as an evolving, relational process rooted in everyday resilience rather than formal inclusion. Policy implications highlight the need for human-centered interventions that recognize and strengthen women’s adaptive financial practices, mitigate the hidden costs of social capital, and support sustainable microenterprise growth in Indonesia’s informal economy.
