Abstract

Analytical thinking is a skill to unite the initial process, plan solutions, produce solutions, and conclude something to produce conclusions or correct answers. This research aims to 1) determine whether there are differences in students' mathematical, analytical thinking skills between classes that use the Open-ended learning method and classes that use the lecturing method, 2) to find out whether there are mathematical, analytical thinking skills differences between students with high, moderate, and low self-awareness criteria, and 3) to find out whether there is an interaction between Open-ended learning method and self-awareness toward students' mathematical-analytical thinking skills. This research employs a quasi-experimental design. Based on the data and data analysis, this research is mixed-method research, and the design used in this research is the posttest control group design. This research was conducted on students who have studied the Real Analysis Courses. Based on the results of hypothesis testing, it was found out that, first, there are differences in students' mathematical-analytical thinking skills between the class that uses the Open-ended learning method and the class that uses the lecturing method. Second, there are mathematical-analytical thinking skills differences between high, moderate, and low self-awareness criteria. Third, there is no interaction between the Open-ended learning method with self-awareness of students' mathematical-analytical thinking skills.

Abstract

Malnutrition problems usually occur in early childhood. It is pretty concerning because early childhood is a group whose nutritional needs must be considered and are still growing. Lack of maternal nutritional knowledge is one of the causes of nutritional problems in children. This study analyzed the relationship between mothers' nutritional knowledge and children's nutritional status (TB/U and IMT/U) at Raudlatul Ulum, Ambarawa District, Pringsewu Regency. The research design was cross-sectional, with 31 subjects. The research subjects were mothers with children aged >60 months. The type of analysis used is Fisher's Test. The results of the study showed that the number of children with stunting nutritional status (TB/U) was seven people (22.6%), which became a public health problem (stunting prevalence >20%). The number of children with poor nutritional status (IMT/U) is one person (3.2%). Statistical test results showed that there was no significant relationship (p>0.05) between the mother's nutritional knowledge and the toddler's nutritional status (TB/A and IMT/U). Still, there was a significant relationship due to the difference in the proportion of> 20%. In conclusion, a mother's nutrition knowledge is essential in providing nutritious food and can support children's nutritional status.

Abstract

Bell’s Palsy is an acute peripheral facial nerve paralysis that causes unilateral facial weakness. The exact cause remains unclear but is suspected to involve anatomical factors, infections, viral reactivation (especially Herpes Simplex Virus), ischemia, inflammation, and cold exposure. The incidence is 20-30 per 100,000 people annually, with no gender or age preference, though it is more common in middle-aged and elderly individuals. Risk factors include diabetes, pregnancy, preeclampsia, obesity, and hypertension. Symptoms develop suddenly, peaking within 48 hours, and include facial asymmetry, difficulty closing the eyes, eating, speaking, and sensory-motor disturbances. Most cases recover spontaneously within weeks to months, but corticosteroids and antiviral therapy can accelerate recovery. Proper diagnosis is crucial as Bell’s Palsy is often mistaken for stroke or other neurological disorders.

Abstract

Byssinosis is an occupational lung disorder mainly caused by exposure of cotton dust during manufacturing. Over the years, it is well known as “Brown lung disease” and “cotton worker’s lung”. Byssinosis is characterized by respiratory symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and airway obstruction. The pathogenesis is still unclear. Despite the exposure to cotton dust, endotoxin release that resides in gram-negative in cotton dust also plays an important role in mediating byssinosis. Specify that supporting examination is not yet available. Thus, it is encouraging to relate the history of cotton dust exposure and the symptoms. In byssinosis, medication is given based on the symptoms that occur.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is a common gynecological complaint among adolescent girls and young women, characterized by disruptive menstrual pain. This condition can affect health, social relationships, as well as school and work activities. The WHO in 2017 stated that 90% of women of reproductive age worldwide experience dysmenorrhea, while in the Southeast Asia region, the prevalence reaches 50.9% in Malaysia and 64.25% in Indonesia. Dysmenorrhea can be classified into primary dysmenorrhea, which occurs without any underlying pelvic pathology, and secondary dysmenorrhea, which occurs due to pelvic pathology such as endometriosis. The severity of primary dysmenorrhea can be classified as mild, moderate, and severe using the WaLIDD Score, a tool that helps measure the intensity and impact of pain. Management of dysmenorrhea can include NSAID medications, hormonal therapy, and alternative therapies such as exercise, although their effectiveness has not been consistently proven. Most teenage girls often consider dysmenorrhea to be a normal part of a menstrual cycle. However, dysmenorrhea that does not receive proper treatment will later impact cases of endometriosis in the future. With a better understanding of the causes and management of dysmenorrhea, it is hoped that patient awareness can be increased and they can be encouraged to seek appropriate medical treatment.
