Abstract

Masalah gizi pada balita, khususnya underweight, masih menjadi tantangan kesehatan masyarakat di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Mpunda, Kota Bima. Hingga Maret 2026, ditemukan sebanyak 1.115 kasus balita berisiko underweight.

Abstract

Phycocyanin research shows fluctuating trends and remains underexplored, particularly in its application for functional food and nutraceutical development, creating significant research gaps and opportunities for innovation such as NutrisMO This study aims to identify research trends and gaps in phycocyanin studies and to analyze factors influencing consumer intention to use NutrisMO, a nutraceutical product based on Spirulina and Moringa oleifera.A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted using the PRISMA approach with data sourced from Scopus (2005–2024), analyzed באמצעות VOSviewer and Leximancer. In addition, a quantitative explanatory study was conducted with 150 respondents selected through purposive sampling to review public acceptance of NUTRISMO products. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with Smart-PLS. The SLR results indicate that research on phycocyanin is still limited and fluctuative, with identified gaps in food-related applications (21%), product-related challenges (8%), and C-phycocyanin concepts (6%), highlighting opportunities for further research and innovation. Meanwhile, the Smart-PLS analysis shows that all constructs meet validity and reliability criteria. Perceived Bioactive Content (β = 0.400), Health Awareness (β = 0.438), and Trust in Herbal Products (β = 0.440) significantly influence Perceived Benefit, which in turn strongly affects Intention to Use (β = 0.775). The model demonstrates moderate to strong explanatory power, with R² values of 0.513 for Perceived Benefit and 0.600 for Intention to Use. This study confirms that perceived benefit plays a crucial mediating role in shaping consumer intention to use nutraceutical products. It also emphasizes the need for further research on phycocyanin and supports the development of functional nutraceutical innovations like NutrisMO by integrating scientific evidence, health awareness, and consumer trust.

Abstract

Underweight remains a public health nutrition problem, particularly among children under five years old, because it may affect physical growth, cognitive development, and increase the risk of morbidity. Family socioeconomic status and infectious diseases are considered factors associated with underweight. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between family socioeconomic status and infectious diseases with the incidence of underweight among children aged 24–59 months in the working area of Rasanae Timur Public Health Center, Dodu Village, Bima City. This study employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 50 children under five, including 25 cases and 25 controls selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews using questionnaires, weight measurements, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of p<0.05. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between father’s education level (p=0.553), father’s occupation (p=0.221), mother’s occupation (p=0.514), family income (p=0.480), and infectious diseases (p=0.564) with underweight incidence among children under five. However, a significant relationship was found between mother’s education level and underweight incidence (p=0.010). This study concludes that maternal education plays an important role in fulfilling nutritional needs and child care practices. Therefore, improving maternal knowledge through nutrition education and regular growth monitoring is recommended to prevent underweight among children under five.

Abstract

Stunting—characterized by height that is inappropriate for a child's age—is a health issue that poses a long-term threat to a toddler's well-being if left unaddressed. This condition reflects chronic, persistent nutritional deficiency, which has the potential to hinder physical growth, intellectual development, and future productivity. This study aimed to analyze the associations between exclusive breastfeeding, early cessation of breastfeeding, and recurrent infections among stunted toddlers in the working area of the Langgudu Timur Community Health Center (Puskesmas). Methods: A quantitative study was conducted using a case-control design and a retrospective approach involving 90 respondents—mothers of toddlers with either normal nutritional status or stunted status. Sampling was carried out using a combination of probability and purposive sampling. Results: Statistical analysis using the Chi-Square test revealed significant associations between stunting and the variables studied: exclusive breastfeeding (p-value = 0.003 < 0.05; OR = 4.64), early cessation of breastfeeding (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05; OR = 11.00), and recurrent infections (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05; OR = 5.38). It is recommended that all stakeholders strengthen stunting prevention efforts by promoting exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life, continuing breastfeeding until the child is two years old or older, and enhancing early prevention and management of infections in toddlers.

Abstract

The Free Nutritious Meals Program is a governmental initiative designed to improve the nutritional status of school‑age children by providing daily nutritious meals. The effectiveness of this program depends not only on food availability but also on students’ knowledge and attitudes toward healthy eating behaviors. This study aims to analyze the influence of knowledge and attitudes on consumption behavior related to the Free Nutritious Meals Program among students at State Senior High School 3 in Bima City. A cross‑sectional design was employed involving a population of all students at the school, with a sample of 160 students selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using simple and multiple linear regression. A total of 124 students demonstrated insufficient knowledge, 102 students exhibited positive attitudes, and 119 students showed good consumption behavior related to the Free Nutritious Meals Program. Knowledge significantly influenced consumption behavior (p < 0.001), and attitude also had a significant effect (p < 0.001). When analyzed together, knowledge and attitude jointly influenced consumption behavior (p < 0.001). Attitude had a stronger effect (B = 1.103) compared to knowledge (B = 0.258). Both variables explained 27.0% of the variation in consumption behavior, while the remaining 73.0% was attributed to other factors not examined in this study. In conclusion, knowledge and attitude significantly influence students’ consumption behavior related to the Free Nutritious Meals Program at State Senior High School 3 in Bima City. Keywords: free nutritious meals; knowledge; attitudes; consumption behavior; high school students

Abstract

Background: Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that remains a public health challenge in Indonesia, including in the working area of the Penana'e Health Center in Bima City. Inappropriate practices of exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding can affect toddler growth and increase the risk of stunting. Objective: This study aims to determine the prevalence of stunting and to analyze the relationship between the history of exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding and stunting in the working area of the Penana'e Health Center in Bima City. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in the working area of Penana'e Primary Health Center, Bima City, Indonesia. A total of 80 mothers with children aged 6–59 months were included. The sample size was determined using the Slovin formula, and participants were selected using purposive sampling based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected through structured interviews using a validated questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson's Chi-square test. Effect sizes were expressed as Odds Ratios (ORs) with 95% Confidence Intervals (95% CIs). Results: Exclusive breastfeeding was significantly associated with stunting (p<0.001). Children who were not exclusively breastfed had 4.96 times higher odds of being stunted than those who received exclusive breastfeeding (OR=4.96; 95% CI=1.86–13.23). In addition, the timing of complementary feeding was significantly associated with stunting (p<0.001). Children who received complementary feeding either before or after six months of age had 5.32 times higher odds of stunting than those who received complementary feeding at six months (OR=5.32; 95% CI=1.97–14.32). Conclusion: The history of exclusive breastfeeding and MP-ASI is related to the incidence of stunting in toddlers in the working area of the Penana'e Health Center, Bima City, so it is necessary to increase education to mothers about the importance of providing exclusive breastfeeding and appropriate MP-ASI to prevent stunting.
