Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformational leadership of the madrasah head in developing a superior tahfidz program at MTs Unggulan Perwanida, Blitar City. The research is motivated by the importance of the madrasah head's role in building a culture of tahfidz discipline through a system of memorization targets, supervision, and continuous program evaluation. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Data collection techniques included observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Informants included the madrasah head, tahfidz teachers, the vice principal, students, and parents. Data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model, while data validity was tested through source and technique triangulation. The results showed that the madrasah head applied transformational leadership through role modeling, motivation, supervision, and regular evaluation of the tahfidz program. Development strategies included annual memorization targets, routine muroja'ah (revision), memorization monitoring, and the use of rewards and punishments. The program's success was supported by the commitment of the madrasah head, the competence of tahfidz teachers, and parental involvement in supervising students' memorization. Inhibiting factors included differences in students' memorization abilities, lack of consistency in muroja'ah, and time limitations. The study concludes that the transformational leadership of the madrasah head plays a strategic role in building a quality culture and discipline within the superior tahfidz program at Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

The advancement of globalization, the Industrial Revolution 4.0, and Society 5.0 has significantly transformed labor market demands, requiring human resources with strong competencies in both technical (hard skills) and non-technical (soft skills) domains, as well as the ability to adapt to rapid technological changes. In this context, vocational education institutions are expected to align their curricula with industry needs through an industry-based approach. This study aims to analyze the management of quality improvement in industry-based curricula in developing students’ competencies at SMKS Magetan 1 YKP and SMKS 1 Pemda (Ma’arif) Ponorogo. This research employs a qualitative approach with a multi-site study design to gain an in-depth understanding of the processes of planning, implementation, control, and follow-up in curriculum quality improvement. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. The analysis involved data condensation, data display, interpretation, and cross-site analysis. Data validity was ensured through credibility, dependability, confirmability, and transferability criteria. The findings indicate that the management of industry-based curriculum quality improvement in both schools is implemented systematically, collaboratively, and adaptively. Planning is conducted through a link and match approach with industry, implementation integrates theory and practice through project-based learning and teaching factory, control is carried out through monitoring, evaluation, and quality audits, and follow-up actions involve curriculum refinement, teacher competency development, and sustainable industry partnerships. These findings confirm that industry-based curriculum management enhances the relevance of vocational education and effectively develops students’ competencies.

Abstract

The limited number of in-depth studies on group norming dynamics and their implications for team effectiveness in secondary education settings—particularly in faith-based institutions such as SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Kertosono—serves as the background for this research. This phenomenon is crucial to examine, as it directly influences the achievement of collaborative learning goals, the development of social skills, and the formation of Islamic character in line with the school's vision. The study aims to comprehensively analyze the formation process of group norms, the mechanisms through which students internalize these norms, and their impact on team effectiveness. A qualitative approach was employed using an intrinsic case study design, allowing for an in-depth exploration of participants’ subjective experiences. The findings reveal that group norms emerge through repeated social interactions, are driven by religious values and school culture, and are reinforced by peer monitoring within teams. Both explicit and implicit norms contribute to patterns of communication, motivation, and team cohesion, directly affecting the effectiveness of collaborative task completion. These results support social identity theory and social learning theory in explaining the role of norms in group dynamics. Theoretically, this research contributes to the literature on group dynamics in Islamic educational contexts. Practically, it recommends that schools and educators develop intervention strategies to foster the formation of positive and constructive group norms. Furthermore, the study opens avenues for future research on student leadership roles and the impact of group norming on psychological well-being in secondary education environments.
