Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Child-Friendly School (CFS) policy from the perspective of Islamic education management at State Senior High School 2 Trenggalek. The research focuses on four main aspects: planning, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of the policy. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed, in which data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and then analyzed using Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña’s interactive model. The findings reveal that policy planning was carried out participatively through deliberation involving the principal, teachers, students, and the school committee. Policy implementation was reflected in participatory teaching methods, the creation of a more conducive school environment, and the provision of counseling services, although constrained by limited resources and teacher training. Policy supervision was conducted through formal mechanisms such as complaint boxes and counseling services, alongside informal forums involving students, reflecting a participatory monitoring pattern. Policy evaluation was conducted periodically and showed an increase in students’ awareness of anti-violence values, despite challenges such as teacher resistance to change and budget constraints. The study concludes that the implementation of the CFS policy at State Senior High School 2 Trenggalek can be harmonized with the principles of Islamic education management al-takhthith, al-tanfidz, al-muraqabah, and al-taqwim, which emphasize deliberation, trustworthiness, responsibility, justice, and continuous improvement.

Abstract

Teacher professionalism is the spearhead in improving the quality of education in schools or madrasas, because teachers directly interact with students in all learning activities. Teacher professionalism must be continuously improved by implementing teacher competency development by the principal as supervisor. This development can be implemented with a clinical supervision approach that prioritizes solving teacher teaching problems authentically. Clinical supervision is an option that can be used by principals to continuously develop teachers' competencies. The implementation of clinical supervision was carried out at Islamic Middle School Darul Falah Tulungagung through Participatory Action Research (PAR) activities involving the madrasah principal and teachers in every stage of the activity, from training, implementation of clinical supervision, to evaluation. The results of the activity showed that the madrasah principal was able to understand the concept of clinical supervision and apply it in implementing teacher development to become professional. Clinical supervision was carried out through pre-conference, conference, and post-conference stages that involved supervisors and teachers in diagnosing difficulties experienced by teachers and efforts to improve them continuously. The implementation of clinical supervision has been proven to improve teachers' teaching skills, which can lead to improved student achievement in Islamic schools. Evaluation of the activity indicates increased self-confidence, openness to feedback, and a collaborative spirit among teachers. Thus, this activity makes a significant contribution to improving the quality of learning and teacher professionalism in Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

This study examines the role of effective communication by school principals in increasing the productivity of educational institutions, particularly Islamic educational institutions. Communication is a fundamental element of organizational culture and directly influences the success of program implementation, decision-making, and the performance of all school members. Various communication barriers, such as misinterpretation of messages, one-way communication patterns, and inconsistencies in meaning, are the main causes of organizational failure in achieving goals. In the context of Islamic education, the communication characteristics of an ideal leader refer to the example of the Prophet Muhammad, including gentleness, moderation, tolerance, forgiveness, deliberation, and commitment. These characteristics have been shown to improve interpersonal relationships, create a positive school climate, and support student character development. The productivity of educational institutions is influenced by various factors such as teacher competence, leadership, infrastructure, organizational culture, and financial management. Effective communication is a connecting factor that ensures all these components work synergistically.
