Abstract

Background Expression of breast milk is a strategy to ensures continuous breastfeeding during temporary separation of infant from the mother. Handling and storage of expressed breast milk (EBM) should be based on established recommendations because these practices can affect milk quality and safety. Objective To describe perceptions and practices of EBM handling and storage, compare with commonly used recommendations and associated factors influencing these practices among mothers in Jakarta, Indonesia, Methods Mothers who practiced expressed breastfeeding (EBF) to their 6-12 weeks-old infants completed questionnaires about their peceptions and practices on how they handle and storage EBM. The differences in perceptions and practices about expressed breastfeeding management were analyzed using the Chi-square or Fisher's exact test. Results Among 30 mothers, 14/30 gave EBF exclusively, 19/30 used breast pump, and 26/30 expressed ³6 times/day. Infants in this study received expressed milk 5-10 times per day. Maternal age and resource of information were factors significantly associated with mother’s perceptions, while maternal age, education, and parity were significantly associated with the practices of EBM handling and storage. Conclusion This study reveals inconsistent perceptions and practices on expressed milk handling and storage by the mothers. They have good knowledge about the theoretical aspects of expressed breastfeeding, but some other techniques are poor, which can be detrimental to the health of the infants. Further study is needed to find more efficient and optimal methods of expressed milk handling and storage, necessitating thoughtful consideration of better practices and recommendations.

Abstract

The appointment of Kaesang Pangarep as the Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) has sparked various responses on social media, particularly on Twitter. This research aims to classify public sentiment regarding the appointment using the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm with FastText feature representation. The data used for classification involves a small training dataset. The text preprocessing process includes cleaning, case folding, tokenizing, normalization, stopword removal, and stemming. FastText word embedding is used to convert words into vectors, and an SVM model with Grid Search is used for parameter tuning to obtain the optimal model. The use of external datasets to expand the initially limited training dataset enhances data representation and improves the model's performance in sentiment classification. The Covid dataset was expanded by adding 100, 200, and 300 tweets for each negative, positive, and neutral label. From the experiments conducted, the best accuracy on the test data was found in experiment ID C2 with an F1-Score of 53.59% and an accuracy of 62.73%. In experiment ID C3 with the same dataset, the F1-Score was 50.46% and the accuracy was 60.46%. Finally, in experiment ID C7 with the same dataset, the F1-Score was 47.19% and the accuracy was 53.09%.

Abstract

Introducing the concept of numbers is important from an early age because it is the basis of mathematics, which consists of counting, mentioning objects with numbers, connecting objects with numbers, comparing, recognizing, and writing numbers. This research aims to develop educational game tools to introduce the concept of numbers in children aged 4-5 years. This type of research and development (R&D) uses the 4-D development model, which consists of defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. Data was collected by using observation and questionnaires. Data were analyzed from the results of questionnaires distributed to expert validators to assess the media developed, as well as the results of observations of children's number concept abilities during the field test. The results showed that the educational media developed and named "hand magic" had very feasible criteria for use with the acquisition of a media design validation score of 3.8%, early childhood expert validation of 3.9%, and validation from early childhood teachers of 3.9%. The results of trial observations for small groups were 44% with Developing as Expected (DE) criteria, 56% with Developing Very Well (DW) criteria, and for large groups obtained a value of 18.6% with Starting to Develop (SD) criteria, 47.9% with DE criteria, and 29.3% with DW criteria. Therefore, hand magic media has contributed to helping young learner teachers introduce number concepts in early childhood. More research topics are suggested, along with some challenges of utilizing a play method with the hand magic educational game in the classroom.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the gross motor skills of early childhood through the traditional Tarek Pukat dance at TKIT Diana Assaffa Islamic Kindergarten, Lhokseumawe. The research employs a qualitative approach with the Classroom Action Research (CAR) design based on the Kurt Lewin model, consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive qualitative techniques. The subjects were sixteen children aged 5–6 years in Group B. The findings reveal a significant improvement in children’s gross motor abilities after participating in Tarek Pukat dance activities. In Cycle I, only 31.25% of children reached the expected developmental level, while 12.5% had not yet developed. However, in Cycle II, 81.25% of the children achieved developmental success, with 43.75% categorized as “developed very well.” The improvement demonstrates that Tarek Pukat dance effectively enhances balance, coordination, and rhythmic movement in early learners. The study concludes that integrating local cultural elements, such as traditional dance, into early childhood education provides both developmental and cultural benefits, enriching children’s physical growth while fostering appreciation for local heritage.
