Abstract

Background: Stunting is a common malnutrition problem among children in the world. The Care for Children Development (CCD) intervention is a strategy to reduce stunting. Objective: This study aimed to identify the effect of culturally modified CCD training on the knowledge, attitude, and efficacy (KAE) of cadres about stunting in the community. Methods: We conducted a community-based study with a quasi-experimental research design using a comparison group. The study was conducted from March 2018 to February 2019 at three Public Health Centers in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The total participants were 69 in the intervention group and 53 in the comparison group. Cadres in the intervention group received two days of training on a culturally modified CCD guideline. In contrast, cadres in the comparison group received a brief explanation (a one-day training) on that program. The nurses from three public health centers were facilitators in this training. Knowledge and self-efficacy were assessed using a modified Caregiver Knowledge of Child Development Inventory and General Self-efficacy Scale, respectively. Data were analyzed using Mann-Whitney U and Wilcoxon tests. Results: All 122 cadres completed the training. In the intervention group, CCD training significantly increased cadres’ knowledge (median score 14 vs. 11), attitude (58 vs. 55), and efficacy (30 vs. 28), all with p <0.001. In the comparison group, the short explanation of CCD significantly improved cadres’ knowledge (median score 12 vs. 10) and efficacy (29 vs. 27) but not their attitude. The delta or change in score before and after CCD training for cadres’ attitude in the intervention group was significantly higher than that of the comparison group (3.78 vs. 0.72; p = 0.050). Conclusion: A culturally modified CCD training significantly improves cadres’ KAE in the intervention group and cadres’ knowledge in the comparison group. The learning delivery methods with demonstrations and role-plays significantly improved the cadres’ attitudes as health educators for stunted mothers in the community. For sustainability, community health nurses should regularly collaborate with cadres to improve the nutritional status of children in their area.

Abstract

In this study, we look at how institutional ownership affects the Price to Book Value (PBV) of Indonesian coal mining companies. Return on Assets (ROA) is the mediating variable, and Debt to Equity Ratio (DER) is the moderating variable. The study is highly relevant given the dynamic changes in financial markets, the increasing dominance of institutional investors, and the challenges associated with debt management. Additionally, regulatory changes and the pressure to enhance shareholder value necessitate an understanding of how institutional ownership, financial performance, and leverage influence company value. Using financial information from Indonesian coal mining companies that were listed between 2018 and 2023 on the Indonesian Stock Exchange, the analysis was conducted using SPSS and the Hayes Process Macro Model 58. The findings indicate that institutional ownership significantly increases firm value (PBV) through better management and stricter supervision. DER, as a moderating variable, emphasizes the importance of good debt management. The positive coefficient of financial performance on firm value indicates that better financial performance contributes to increased firm value. Overall, institutional ownership is more effective in directly enhancing firm value than through the mechanisms involving financial performance and leverage. This study provides critical insights for corporate managers, institutional investors, and policymakers on managing institutional ownership to improve company performance and value, and effectively handle financial leverage.

Abstract

Current undergraduate students, particularly Generation Z, are digital natives who have grown up with digital technology and exhibit unique learning characteristics that necessitate new approaches in higher education. An Adaptive Learning System in education involves leveraging technology to accommodate individual students' unique needs and preferences. This research aims to enhance learning effectiveness and design processes in interior design courses, with the case study Interior Design II course at Telkom University, Indonesia. The course currently offers limited software options for interior layout design, which may hinder students' abilities and preferences. This study compares three software tools—Autodesk AutoCAD, Building Information Modeling (BIM) software Autodesk Revit, and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based plugin PlanFinder—to determine which is most effective in improving students' understanding and simplifying the design process. The research methodology employs a mixed-method approach, integrating qualitative methods such as literature reviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with quantitative methods like experimentation workshops and pre-test and post-test questionnaires analyzed using SPSS software. The results demonstrate that Autodesk Revit, a BIM software, notably enhances the design process's effectiveness, particularly within the Interior Design II course context. Consequently, the study recommends the implementation of Adaptive Learning Systems that allow students to select software based on their capabilities and preferences. The three software tools/plugins examined in this study can be considered for integration into interior design courses. Furthermore, future research should seek to broaden the sample size and evaluate additional AI tools in interior design courses for comparative analysis

Abstract

Background: The first 1,000 days are crucial for a child's development. Indonesia has limited research on responsive caregiving and early learning opportunities, especially for children with nutritional challenges. While studies have addressed general child nutrition, few have explored comprehensive nurturing care interventions. This gap underscores the need for further research. Educational videos, particularly animated ones, effectively capture attention and improve understanding, making them valuable for enhancing maternal knowledge and child growth.Purpose: This study aimed to assess the impact of nurturing care educational videos on mothers' knowledge and child growth in children aged 6-23 months with nutritional challenges. Methods: A quasi-experimental design with non-equivalent and untreated control groups was employed. Seventy-three mothers and their children aged 6-23 months, facing nutritional challenges, were recruited through consecutive sampling. The intervention group received nurturing care educational videos. Statistical analyses included dependent t-tests, independent t-tests, and repeated measures ANOVA.Results: The intervention group showed significant improvements in nurturing care knowledge (p = 0.012), responsive caregiving (p = 0.018), and safety and security (p = 0.006). A significant difference in safety and security was observed between groups at posttest 1 (p = 0.020). Both groups exhibited significant increases in children's body weight and height: the intervention group (body weight, p = 0.005; body height, p < 0.001) and the control group (body weight, p < 0.001; body height, p < 0.001).Conclusion: Nurturing care educational videos had a significant positive impact on enhancing mothers' knowledge and promoting child growth. Notable improvements were observed in nurturing care knowledge, responsive caregiving practices, and safety and security measures among caregivers exposed to the intervention.
