Abstract

The skin of the thorny palm has been empirically recognized by some people as a traditional medicine for beauty, antimicrobial, and antidiabetic. Compounds that act as treatment in the skin of the thorny palm is flavonoids. The study aims to determine the total flavonoid of the thorny palm rind extract based on differences in the drying of simplicia. The simplicia drying method used was oven-dry, direct sunlight, indirect sunlight, and air dry and fresh samples as control. Extraction using the maceration method with ethanol p.a. solvent. Determination of total flavonoid levels from the extract of thorny palm rind using the UV-Vis spectrophotometric method with quercetin standard solution. The qualitative test results showed that the skin of the thorny palm contains flavonoids after the addition of 1% AlCl3. The total flavonoid content in the fresh sample was 0.00342%, direct sunlight was 0.00350%, oven-dry was 0.00340%, dry air was 0.00357%, and indirect sunlight was 0.00361%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the highest flavonoid content in the extract of thorny palm rind is found in the indirect sun drying method.

Abstract

Daun duku khas Komering Ilir memiliki beberapa senyawa metabolit sekunder yang memiliki potensi sebagai aktivitas biologis salah satu diantaranya sebagai antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak daun duku ((Lansium parasiticum (Osbeck) K.C Sahni & Bennet) K.C Sahni & Bennet) berdasarkan perbedaan pelarut polar. Metode penyarian yang digunakan adalah maserasi dalam pelarut etanol, metanol, dan air. Penentuan aktivitas antioksidan digunakan metode DPPH (2,2 diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) dengan kuersetin sebagai larutan standar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai IC50 pada ekstrak air daun duku adalah 1.114 ppm dengan kadar antioksidan tidak aktif. Nilai IC50 ekstrak metanol pada daun duku didapat hasil yaitu 508 ppm dengan kadar antioksidan tidak aktif, dan pada ekstrak etanol daun duku didapat hasil nilai IC50 adalah 788 ppm dengan kategori antioksidan tidak aktif.

Abstract

Akar nipah (Nypa fruticans Wurmb) contains active chemicals in the form of flavonoids and is a component of the nipah plant with antioxidant activity. The study's goal was to determine the total flavonoid content as well as the antioxidant activity of akar nipah extract. The extraction method is a maceration method with methanol as the solvent. Total flavonoid levels in akar nipah extract were determined using UV-Vis spectrophotometry after the addition of 10% AlCl3 at a wavelength of 433 nm, while antioxidant activity was determined using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) technique at a wavelength of 516 nm. The total flavonoid levels and antioxidant activity were determined in comparison to quercetin. According to the study's findings, akar nipah extract contains flavonoids at 0.05 0.01% and has very strong antioxidant activity (IC50 of 6.59 ppm).
