Data was obtained through direct observation or field research on the characteristics of plants studied. The data collection technique uses observation, documentation, and literature methods. The results of the study show that there are 22 species of higher plants (Spermatophyta) in the area, consisting of Gymnospermae and Angiospermae. The Gymnospermae plants found in the Veteran Complex, Medan Estate, Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regency consist of 1 species from 1 family. Meanwhile, the Angiospermae plants found in the area consist of 18 species, consisting of monocot and dicot subclasses. Of these 18 species, 8 species consist of 7 families. Higher plants (Phanerogamae) are a group of plants that have seeds and reproduce sexually. The dominant higher plants Angiospermae in the Veteran Complex, Medan Estate, Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regency is the Zingiberaceae family, namely the species Alpinia galanga (galangal) which belongs to the herbaceous plant.

Abstract

What are students' misconceptions about understanding the growth and development of living things and why students have difficulty learning the material on the growth and development of living things. This research aims to describe the profile of students' misconceptions on the growth and development of living things and to describe the factors causing students' misconceptions on the growth and development of living things. This data is really needed to determine the level of students' understanding of the concepts in the material. This research is a descriptive research. This research is broadly divided into two stages, namely the preparation stage and the implementation stage. This research is a descriptive research. The object of this research is the Growth and Development of Living Creatures material in the SMA/MA Class Living Creatures in the SMA/MA Class Material like this contained in books can be a misconception for students because the title is unclear so that students misunderstand what the title means. This research shows that there are misconceptions in books used as teaching materials in class XII in Biology lessons, these misconceptions can be found in the title, subtitles and even in the content of the material in this book. This book is quite clear and structured in delivering biology material, especially Growth and Development material, to high school/MA class XII students.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder that occurs due to inadequate insulin levels or insulin resistance which leads to hyperglycemia. Handling hyperglycemia conditions in diabetes mellitus is very necessary, one of which is by consuming healthy and nutritious food. The aim of this research is to determine the results of total antioxidant levels in types of yogurt which can have an influence on the blood profile of white rats (Rattus norvegicus) with diabetes mellitus. This research used white rats (Rattus norvegicus) as experimental animals which were divided into 5 groups (K+: normal type, K-: negative type (alloxan), P1: type I yogurt brand (drinking yogurt), P2: type. yogurt brand II (yogurt set), P3: kel. yogurt brand III (stirred yogurt) with 5 treatment repetitions each. Yoghurt was given using the oral sonde technique to the experimental animals. Blood samples from the experimental animals were taken through the orbital sinus using hematocrit. Profile Rat blood was tested using a hematology analyzer. The data obtained were analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Duncan's test with a significance level of 0.05. Statistical results showed that there were significant differences (p < 0.05) in each treatment group. Based on the average results erythrocytes, hemoglobin, leukocytes and platelets that brand III yogurt samples had a better level of improvement than the others. This is also in line with the results of testing antioxidant levels in brand III yogurt, namely 51.38 ppm, which means the antioxidant levels are strong.

Abstract

The cingkam tree (Bischofia javanica Blume) is a type of tree that can be found in various areas of Sumatra and Java. Cingkam trees have the potential to be developed regarding biodiversity assets and the ecosystem that surrounds them. The existence of this tree is threatened due to human activities such as habitat loss, overexploitation, pollution and climate change. Therefore, conservation efforts and sustainable use of Cingkam trees are needed. This research aims to determine data on the concept of the cingkam tree as a biodiversity asset in ecological learning. This study is a descriptive qualitative research. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews and documentation. The data obtained was then analyzed using coding themes, identifying themes and drawing conclusions. The results showed that (1) cingkam trees (Bischofia javanica Blume) have unique characteristics and ecological roles, and can improve students' understanding of ecological concepts such as adaptation, symbiosis, and ecosystem services; (2) the integration of cingkam tree characteristics in learning was proven to foster greater awareness and appreciation of biodiversity conservation among students; (3) cingkam trees can make a significant contribution to ecological education to encourage students to actively participate in local biodiversity conservation efforts.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a digital student worksheet (E-LKPD) utilizing Liveworksheet, based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and integrated with values from the Qur'an and Hadith, focused on the topic of Plant Diversity. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Research instruments included expert validation questionnaires for content and media, teacher and student response questionnaires to assess practicality, as well as pre-test and post-test instruments to evaluate effectiveness. The trial subjects were students from classes X MIPA-1 and X MIPA-2 at SMA MAL Medan, involving 60 students and one biology teacher. Validation results showed that the developed E-LKPD was rated as highly relevant by content experts (93.75%) and media experts (97.41%). Practicality assessment yielded scores of 85.7% by the biology teacher and 93.5% by the students, both categorized as very practical. Effectiveness testing showed a learning outcome improvement of 87.4%, indicating a high level of effectiveness. Thus, the PBL-based E-LKPD integrated with Qur'anic and Hadith values on the topic of Plant Diversity is valid, practical, and effective, making it suitable for implementation in high school biology instruction.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of character education values in biology learning in the era of society 5.0 for class X students of MAN Binjai. This study uses a mixed methods approach with a sequential exploratory design, namely a combination research method that combines qualitative and quantitative research methods sequentially. Data collection techniques are carried out using case studies and experiments. Case studies use instruments, namely documentation, interviews and observations of biology teachers. While the experiment uses a student needs questionnaire instrument. The results of the study indicate that the application of character education values in biology learning in the era of society 5.0 for class X students of MAN Binjai that have been developed, in character education the highest score with a value of 89% in the aspect of tolerance character values, a medium score with a value of 60% in the aspect of health care character values and the lowest score with a value of 42% in the aspect of environmental care. The obstacles faced by biology teachers are that students still do not carry out the tasks and obligations given by the teacher with full responsibility, students do not submit assignments on time.

Abstract

Inquiry learning strategies are a series of learning activities that emphasize the process of thinking critically to find and find for yourself the answer to a problem in question. This study aims to determine the influence of inquiry learning strategies on the critical thinking ability of class XI science students of MIA Al-washliyah Kedaisianam. This research is in the form of quantitative research with a Quasi-experimental approach. The head of this study is students of class XI MIA 1 and XI MIA 2 Madrasah Aliyah Al-washliyah Kedaisianam Batu Bara school year 2022/2023. The design of this study is The Non-Equivalent Pretest Control Group Design. Data on students' critical abilities were collected using questionnaires. For then the research results obtained from the Non-test questionnaire in the experimental class and control class. Then the data obtained in the critical thinking ability analysis test of students of the two research classes were declared normally distributed and homogeneous and for the hypothesis test showed that the calculation of 20.071 > ttabel 1.669, then it can be categorized as having an influence. And for a significant degree of < 0.05 where 0.000 < 0.05, then H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted and concluded there is an influence of inquiry learning strategies on students' critical thinking ability on regulatory system materials. Keywords: critical thinking, inquiry learning strategies, regulatory systems.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i3.pp1048-1056
