Abstract

Concrete block is a building element made from a mixture of Portland cement or pozzolan, sand, water, and other additives. This study aims to evaluate the effect of adding palm shell ash as a partial cement substitution material on the compressive strength and water absorption of concrete block according to SNI 03-0349-1989. The variations of palm shell ash substitution used were 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% of the cement weight. The test results showed that the average compressive strength values for the BN (normal), BA-5, BA-10, BA-15, and BA-20 variations were 8.88 MPa, 12.2 MPa, 7.9 MPa, 7.2 MPa, and 6.7 MPa, respectively. The optimum compressive strength value was achieved in the BA-5 variation with a value of 12.2 MPa and was included in the classification of quality I concrete block. A decrease in compressive strength occurred in variations above 5%, but still met quality standards I and II. The water absorption test showed consecutive values of 10%, 10.5%, 13.4%, 13.2%, and 15.3%, where all variations were still below the maximum limit of 25% according to SNI and categorized as quality I. Thus, palm shell ash has the potential to be a cement substitute in making bricks, especially at a content of 5%, which provides the best mechanical and physical performance.

Abstract

The core issue of this research is how the Honorary Body at the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) of Makassar City constructs the enforcement of the code of ethics. This study is a field research employing an empirical juridical approach and normative theological approach (syar'i). The data were obtained from primary sources such as legislation and other secondary sources. Data collection methods included interviews and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through stages of data presentation, reduction, editing, data analysis, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that: 1) The Honorary Body of the DPRD of Makassar City was established based on legislation and functions as an enforcer of the code of ethics; 2) The Honorary Body of the DPRD of Makassar City performs its duties based on the autonomous regional agreement under DPRD Regulation No. 1 of 2018 concerning Rules of Procedure; 3) The issue of code of ethics enforcement in the DPRD of Makassar City is the formal enforcement factor, which can only be reported by the leadership, resulting in an ineffective check and balance. It is recommended that the DPRD of Makassar City grants freedom to the public and involves community elements in monitoring the code of ethics for members of the DPRD of Makassar City.

Abstract

This study highlights the low English writing and speaking skills of students of the Information Systems Study Program at Nurdin Hamzah University. To address this challenge, a rule-based expert system application named M.E.G.A for Job Seekers was developed using the ADDIE model approach (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). This application functions as a self-assessment tool to improve students' professional communication readiness, especially in compiling CVs, job application letters, and interview preparation. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, with subjects consisting of language experts, instructional media experts, and educational technology experts to validate the product. Meanwhile, 100 second-semester students of the Information Systems Study Program at Nurdin Hamzah University were used as the sample for testing the practicality, attractiveness, and effectiveness of the application. This study used quantitative data from questionnaires and tests, as well as qualitative data from open-ended responses by experts and students. The quantitative data were analyzed descriptively, while the qualitative data were validated through triangulation and content analysis to support the development of the application. The results showed high scores in the aspects of functionality, attractiveness of appearance, and improvement of learning outcomes. Pre-test and post-test analysis showed significant improvements, while statistical analysis supported the pedagogical reliability of this system. The application has proven effective in supporting independent learning that is relevant to the needs of the world of work and has the potential to be adopted by other study programs. This study contributes to the development of digital learning through the integration of AI-based expert systems for the development of 21st-century skills.

The data collection techniques used in this study are observation, interviews and documentation. Informants in this study were ant sugar entrepreneurs, workers and surrounding residents. Data analysis techniques used in qualitative research consist of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the development of this palm sugar production business still uses traditional production tools and a limited number of workers. This simplicity is also seen in terms of marketing and distribution, which are only around the Sidenreng Rappang district. The presence of the palm sugar production business in Lombo Village has an influence on the socio-economic life of the people in Lombo Village and its surroundings. In terms of the economy, the production of ant sugar encourages job creation. The opening of employment opportunities absorbs labor and also causes an increase in people's income.

Abstract

This study explores the relationships between perceived digital competence, attitude towards digital technology, learning agility, and student engagement among 246 junior high school students in Muaro Jambi Regency. Using a quantitative approach and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis, the research investigates how these variables interact to influence sustainable student engagement in a digitally enriched academic environment. The findings indicate that perceived digital competence significantly influences learning agility (β = 0.70), while its direct impact on student engagement is negligible (β = -0.02). Similarly, attitudes toward digital technology positively predict learning agility (β = 0.70) and moderately affect student engagement (β = 0.34). Learning agility emerges as a critical mediator, significantly contributing to student engagement (β = 0.48). These results emphasize the pivotal role of learning agility in bridging digital competence, attitudes, and engagement in academic contexts. The study underscores the importance of fostering adaptable and motivated learners to enhance engagement and calls for targeted interventions to strengthen students’ digital capabilities and attitudes. Future research should consider broader sample diversity and include additional antecedents to refine the model and enhance its generalizability.

Abstract

Violation of workers' rights in Indonesia is a central issue in labor relations Commonly violations of workers' rights demand the existence of the Confederation of Trade Unions as an organization formed from, by, and for workers both in the company and outside the company, which is free, open, independent, democratic, and responsible to fight for, defend and protect the rights and interests and welfare of workers. For this reason, this research is oriented in the form of normative empirical research that seeks to observe the provisions of laws and regulations from the aspects of the rights and obligations of workers and employers along with law enforcement and direct observations in the Confederation of Maros Trade Unions in their role defending the rights and interests of workers in Maros Regency. The conclusion in this study is that labor relations outline the existence of inseparable rights and obligations as a definite causality, so disputes over rights and obligations between workers and employers require law enforcement that can be pursued outside the court through Bipartite settlements and mediation and litigation settlements through judicial institutions. In addition, the existence of KSPI Maros plays a very important role in industrial relations and efforts to resolve labor rights disputes through Bipartite, mediation and courts.
