Abstract

Purpose: This study analyzes the influence of work-life balance, work environment, and workload on performance through job satisfaction as a mediating variable on employees of the General Bureau of the Regional Secretariat of the Riau Islands Province. Methodology/approach: A quantitative method was used with SEM-PLS analysis on data collected from 120 employees of the General Bureau, Riau Islands Provincial Secretariat. Results: Using primary data from 120 employees, this study found that work-life balance and workload have a significant influence on performance through the results of the path coefficient, meaning that the job satisfaction variable can mediate the influence of endogenous variables of work-life balance and workload on the performance variable. This can be explained by the fact that with the mediation of job satisfaction, when there is an increase in work-life balance and workload, employee performance will increase. Conclusions: Improving job satisfaction enhances performance, especially when managing workload and work-life balance. Limitations: The study is limited to one public institution and excludes factors such as leadership and compensation. Contribution: This study highlights the importance of job satisfaction as a mediator to improve employee performance in the public sector.

Abstract

This study analyzes the factors that influence Effectiveness of the Work of Functional Equivalency Officials in the Implementation of the Bureaucratic Simplification Policy in the Bintan Regency Government, with job satisfaction as an intervening variable. The legal basis for bureaucratic simplification is regulated in PERMENPANRB NO. 25 OF 2021 concerning the Simplification of Organizational Structures in Government Agencies for Bureaucratic Simplification. The negative impact of this policy that needs to be anticipated is the psychological impact on Administrators (echelon III) and Supervisors (echelon IV) who will lose their positions. Using primary data from 153Functional Officials, this study found that Compensation and Organizational Commitment have a significant direct effect on Work Effectiveness, on the other hand Job Placement is proven to have an insignificant effect on Work Effectiveness, in addition Compensation, Job Placement and Organizational Commitment have a significant effect on Job Satisfaction. Job Satisfaction has a significant effect on Work Effectiveness. In the indirect effect, Compensation and Organizational Commitment have a significant effect on Work Effectiveness through Job Satisfaction. However, Job Placement does not have a significant effect on Work Effectiveness through Job Satisfaction. The proposed recommendation is to focus on increasing work effectiveness and other aspects that have a more direct effect on the psychological impact of Administrator (echelon III) and Supervisor (echelon IV) officials who will lose their positions.

Abstract

Nomenclature changes in public institutions often create significant challenges for organizational effectiveness, particularly in aligning tasks, redistributing human resources, and maintaining the quality of public services. This condition is also experienced by the Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine Office of Riau Islands, which faces structural complexities following institutional restructuring. This study aims to analyze the organizational performance after the nomenclature change using the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) approach. The research employed a qualitative method with in-depth interviews involving key informants directly engaged in management and quarantine services. Data were analyzed through thematic coding with the assistance of NVivo software, allowing each BSC perspective to be comprehensively examined. The findings reveal that from the financial perspective, budget management is relatively efficient but still requires optimization in transparency and accountability. From the customer perspective, there is an increase in satisfaction and trust in quarantine services, showing that restructuring has strengthened public service delivery. The internal process perspective indicates positive adaptation to the new structure, although challenges remain in terms of uneven human resource distribution and regulatory adjustments. Meanwhile, the learning and growth perspective underscores the importance of continuous staff development and the integration of information technology to build an adaptive work culture. Overall, the Balanced Scorecard proves to be an effective evaluation instrument for assessing public sector performance, while also providing policy implications in terms of strengthening financial governance, redistributing human resources, and modernizing internal processes to enhance efficiency, accountability, and public service quality.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of product quality, service, and tariff on bill payment compliance among household customers using customer satisfaction as an intervening variable. The sample in this study was 100 household customers, with data collection using a questionnaire instrument with a Likert scale. The analysis was conducted using Partial Least Square (PLS) with Structural Equation Model (SEM) modeling to test direct and indirect effects. The results of the study indicate that product quality, service, and tariff each have a significant positive effect on payment compliance and customer satisfaction. The results also prove that product quality, service, and tariff have a significant positive effect on bill payment compliance through customer satisfaction. Based on this study, it is known that bill payment compliance can increase when customers are satisfied with the quality of products, services, and tariffs. On the other hand, it is known that to increase payment compliance, it can be achieved by improving the quality of products, services, and current tariffs. This increase will have an impact on increasing customer satisfaction, indicating the fact that customers will feel satisfied and this satisfaction is conveyed by customers in the form of loyalty if there are dimensions of product quality, service, and tariffs in it.

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates the impact of competence, motivation, and work culture on employee performance, with self-efficacy as the mediating variable. It hypothesizes that competence, motivation, and work culture influence self-efficacy, which in turn affects performance. Research Methodology: The sample in this study included all Medical Support employees at the Tanjungpinang City Regional General Hospital. The number of samples used was 105. The data obtained were analyzed using data analysis techniques with AMOS 24.0 software. Results: The findings revealed the significance of these relationships: competence positively affected self-efficacy, as indicated by the CR Value (5.045) and probability (0.000 < 0.05). Similarly, motivation (CR Value 2.802, P-Value 0.002 < 0.05) and work culture (CR Value 4.267, P-Value 0.001 < 0.05) positively impacted self-efficacy. Competence (CR = 3.066, p = 0.002 < 0.05) and work culture (CR = 2.075, p = 0.039 < 0.05) significantly influenced performance through self-efficacy. However, motivation does not have a direct significant effect on performance (CR Value = 1.157, probability = 0.248 > 0.05). Conclusions: Competence and work culture enhance performance through self-efficacy, while motivation indirectly supports it by strengthening self-efficacy. Limitations: This research focuses on 105 Medical Support employees at the Tanjungpinang City Regional General Hospital, employing AMOS 24.0 for data analysis. Contribution: This study underscores the importance of competence, motivation, and work culture in enhancing employee performance through the mediating role of self-efficacy.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the impact of promotions, pricing, and product quality on consumer choices in Tanjungpinang City's small and medium-sized handicraft industry. It seeks to understand how these factors influence consumer decision-making and subsequent purchases. Research Methodology: The research employed a quantitative approach with a census sampling technique, involving 145 respondents of Tanjungpinang City’s handicraft consumers. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed with Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using SmartPLS version 4, focusing on product, price, promotion, service quality, and purchase decisions. Results: The findings revealed the significance of these relationships: competence Findings reveal that product quality significantly and positively influences purchase decisions, while price shows a very significant positive effect. Conversely, promotion has no significant effect on consumer decision-making. Conclusions: Price and product quality are key determinants of consumer purchasing behavior in Tanjungpinang’s handicraft sector, whereas promotions play a marginal role. Service quality emerges as a crucial mediating factor that enhances the influence of product and price on consumer decisions. Limitations: udy is limited by the use of a single industry and location, relatively small samples, and reliance on survey data without qualitative triangulation, which may restrict the generalizability of findings.
