Abstract

Concepts in chemistry, such as colloids, remain challenging for students who struggle to grasp them, and current instructional media used by teachers have not optimally visualized these concepts. This study aims to analyze students’ needs for Articulate Storyline 3–based interactive learning media, supported by Canva, for the colloid topic. Employing a descriptive quantitative design, the study sampled one chemistry teacher and 40 twelfth-grade students from SMA IT Granada Samarinda selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected via questionnaires and an unstructured interview with the teacher. The questionnaire’s validity and reliability were evaluated using Pearson’s Product-Moment correlation in IBM SPSS 27, and questionnaire data were analyzed using descriptive percentage statistics. Findings indicate that 84.5% of students have adequate access to digital devices, 83% prefer visually oriented learning media, and 76.5% express a need for interactive learning tools. The proposed interactive media, developed with Articulate Storyline 3 and Canva, are expected to include instructional videos, interactive exercises, and simple educational games aligned with colloid concepts, making learning more engaging and accessible. This study can serve as a foundation for further development of innovative, adaptive interactive learning media.

Abstract

Chemistry laboratory experiments often use hazardous chemicals that can pose health risks and cause environmental damage. Green chemistry-based chemistry experiments are important because they use materials that are safe for students and the environment. Unlike previous laboratory manuals, this manual integrates green chemistry principles and digital features to enhance student independence. The purpose of this study was to examine the practicality and effectiveness of the green chemistry-based chemistry practicum guide on acid-base indicator material. This study was a Research and Development (R&D) study using the Borg and Gall model. This study focused only on the limited trial stage, initial product revision, and field trials to test the practicality and effectiveness of the Practicum Guide. Data collection techniques used questionnaires to determine practicality scores and N-Gain tests for effectiveness. The results of the practicality score analysis of the green chemistry-based chemistry practicum guide for teachers were in the very practical category, while students were in the practical category, reinforced by the results of observations of teacher and student activities in the very good category. The results of the analysis of the effectiveness of the green chemistry-based chemistry Practicum Guide using N-Gain were in the moderate category. Thus, this chemistry Practicum Guide is practical and effective for use in simple acid-base indicator practicums.

Abstract

Anemia is a condition of low hemoglobin levels in the blood that leads to a decrease in the number of red blood cells. It is the second leading cause of disability in the world and a global public health issue. In Palembang City, the prevalence of anemia among adolescent girls reached 26.5%. If left untreated, anemia can continue into adulthood and increase the risk of pregnancy complications, such as maternal death, premature birth, and low birth weight babies. One of the causes is the low behavior of adolescent girls regarding anemia prevention. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of counseling through lecture method and flipchart media on the behavior of adolescent girls about anemia prevention at SMAN 14 Palembang. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a two group pretest-posttest design on 70 female students of class X and XI, who were randomly divided into two groups, namely lecture and flipchart. Results showed an increase in knowledge, attitudes, and actions in both groups after counseling. In the lecture group, knowledge increased from 61.43 to 77.43, attitude from 54.29 to 74.71, and action from 78.43 to 89.14. In the flipchart group, knowledge increased from 70.57 to 82.86, attitude from 59.00 to 75.29, and action from 79.29 to 89.71. Wilcoxon test showed p = 0.000 in all variables of both groups. Nutrition counseling through lecture method and flipchart media is effective in improving adolescent girls' behavior in anemia prevention. Thus, nutrition counseling through lectures and flip charts proved to be effective in improving adolescent girls' behavior related to anemia prevention. Abstract

Abstract thinking skills are essential for understanding microscopic concepts in chemistry, particularly in topics such as chemical bonding. This study investigates the effectiveness of augmented reality (AR) as an innovative instructional medium that enhances students’ abstract thinking abilities within the context of chemical bonding. A mixed-method approach with a sequential explanatory design was employed, beginning with a quantitative phase followed by qualitative analysis. The participants were tenth-grade students at one of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Pekanbaru, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using essay-based assessments, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. The quantitative findings indicate a statistically significant improvement in the abstract thinking skills of students in the experimental group compared to the control group (p = 0.001), with 73.7% of students in the experimental group showing marked progress. Qualitative data further support these results, highlighting that AR facilitated students’ abilities in structural representation, abstraction, and metacognitive awareness. Additionally, AR increased student motivation and deeper engagement with the learning material. These findings suggest that integrating AR in chemistry instruction can be an effective pedagogical strategy to promote the development of abstract reasoning and 21st-century competencies.
