Abstract

Tinea cruris is a fungal skin infection that often occurs in tropical regions, including Indonesia, with a relatively high prevalence in dormitory environments such as Islamic boarding schools. This study aims to determine the determinants influencing the incidence of suspected tinea cruris in male students. This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design, involving 224 male students at the Nurul Huda Tanah Merah Islamic Boarding School using a total sampling technique. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses. The results of the regression analysis showed that personal hygiene and BMI were significantly associated with the incidence of tinea cruris. Personal hygiene was associated with a decrease in the incidence of tinea cruris, while BMI had a smaller effect. The regression model obtained proved significant, which means these factors have an important role in predicting the incidence of suspected tinea cruris. It can be concluded that poor personal hygiene and high BMI are the main factors contributing to the incidence of suspected tinea cruris in the Islamic boarding school environment. Abstract

Kompetensi abad ke-21 menekankan penguasaan keterampilan 4C, yakni berpikir kritis, kreatif, komunikasi, dan kolaborasi. Kurikulum Merdeka mengintegrasikan kebutuhan tersebut melalui Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5), yang relevan dengan isu lingkungan dan dapat diimplementasikan melalui dengan pembelajaran berbasis STEAM (Sains, Teknologi, Teknik, dan Matematika). Oleh karena itu, penting untuk mengintegrasikan pembelajaran STEAM yang berjalan beriringan seiring dengan penerapan P5 di sekolah. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru tentang penyusunan modul P5 berbasis STEAM terintegrasi etnosains dan memotivasi guru sebagai pendidik agar terampil dalam menyusun modul P5 yang sesuai. Metode penelitian dilaksanakan dalam bentuk workshop/pelatihan, dan pendampingan dalam membuat modul (P5) berbasis STEAM terintegrasi etnosains. Hasil pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan melalui tiga tahapan, yaitu tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian, dan evaluasi. Data pendukung penelitian, yaitu pengisian pretest-posttest menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan peserta dengan nilai N-Gain sebesar 0,57 yang termasuk dalam kategori sedang dan sebagai bahan evaluasi pelaksanaan kegiatan, peneliti memberikan angket respon. Kegiatan pendampingan penyusunan modul P5 berbasis STEAM yang terintegrasi etnosains memberikan manfaat yang signifikan bagi peserta, terutama dalam meningkatkan pemahaman Guru IPA tentang konsep pembelajaran yang inovatif dan relevan dengan konteks budaya lokal. 21st-century competencies emphasize the mastery of four key skills: critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration. The Independent Curriculum addresses these needs through the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5), which is particularly relevant to environmental issues and can be effectively implemented through STEAM-based learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). Therefore, it is essential to integrate STEAM learning, which complements the implementation of P5 in schools. The purpose of this community service activity is to enhance teachers' knowledge and skills in developing STEAM-based P5 modules that integrate ethnoscience and to motivate teachers as educators to develop appropriate P5 modules. The research method is implemented through workshops/training and mentoring in creating STEAM-based modules (P5) integrated with ethnoscience. The results of the community service implementation are carried out through three stages: preparation, implementation of community service activities, and evaluation. The supporting data from the research, specifically the pretest-posttest filling, showed an increase in participants' knowledge, with an N-Gain value of 0.57, which falls within the moderate category. As an evaluation material for the implementation of the activity, the researcher provided a response questionnaire. The mentoring activity for preparing the STEAM-based P5 module, integrated with ethnoscience, offered significant benefits for participants, especially in enhancing the understanding of Science Teachers about innovative and relevant learning concepts in the local cultural context.

Abstract

Low levels of critical thinking skills among students on the topic of chemical equilibrium pose a significant challenge in chemistry education. This topic demands strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the Think-Pair-Square (TPSq) learning model in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills. A pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was employed, involving 59 students from two classes selected through cluster random sampling. Data were collected using a critical thinking skills test administered before and after the intervention, and analyzed using N-Gain and effect size. The results indicated a significant improvement in students’ critical thinking skills, with an average N-Gain of 0.48 (moderate category) and an effect size of 2.75 (very high category). These findings suggest that TPSq is an effective collaborative learning strategy for developing critical thinking skills in chemical equilibrium and can serve as an alternative instructional method that promotes student interaction and discussion.

Abstract

Anemia in adolescent girls is characterized by Hb levels < 12 g / dl. Anemia is influenced by various factors including nutritional intake, and knowledge. Anemia results in learning concentration, fatigue, to decreased learning achievement. One of them overcomes this problem by giving Fe supplements and nutrition education. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between nutrition education using e-booklets on hemoglobin levels in adolescent girls. The design of this study was a Quasi-Experiment with a comparison group. The study was divided into the treatment group and the comparison group. Providing nutrition education using e-booklets and Fe supplements for 3 weeks in the treatment group. The number of respondents was 36 in the treatment group and the comparison in the comparison group. The results of the t-dependent test showed an average difference in the two groups with a p-value of  0.05. The average hemoglobin level of the treatment group was 0.411 g / dl and the comparison group was 0.2 g / dl. The results of the t-independent test showed no difference in the average hemoglobin levels of the treatment group with a comparison group with a p-value of  0.05. The average difference in hemoglobin levels in the treatment group with the comparison group was 0.211 g / dl. Fe supplements and nutrition education with e-booklets can increase Hb levels.

Abstract

Hipertensi adalah penyakit yang sering dikenal dikalangan masyarakatdengan sebutuan darah tinggi. Hipertensi memberikan dampak stroke dan serangan jantung, sulit tidur,dsbnya. Banyak faktor yang mempengaruhi hipertensiusia, obesitas, kebiasaan olahraga, merokok, riwayat keluarga. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan kejadian hipertensidi UPT Puskesmas Teluk Betung Kabupaten Banyuasin. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah cross sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh pasien yang datang berobat ke UPT Puskesmas Teluk Betung dan jumlah sampel 204 dengan teknik pengambilan sampel acak sederhana (Simple random sampling). Analisa data pada bivariat menggunakan uji chi square dan pada multivariat menggunakan uji regresi logistic berganda. Hasil penelitian didapatkan ada hubungan umur (P=0,016), pengetahuan (P=0,004), Obesitas (P=0,003), Riwayat keluarga (P=0,000) dan Pola makan (P=0,002) dengan Kejadian hipertensidi UPT Puskesmas Teluk Betung Kabupaten Banyuasin tahun 2023. Tidak ada hubungan jenis kelamin (P=0,138), pekerjaan (P=0,583), Kebiasaan merokok (P=0,321) dengan Kejadian hipertensidi UPT Puskesmas Teluk Betung Kabupaten Banyuasin tahun 2023.Variabel independen yang bermakna/signifikan, yaitu: Umur, Pengetahuan, Obesitas, Riwayat penyakit dan Pola makan, sedangkan Status Merokok merupakan pengganggu. Hasil analisa multivariat memperlihatkan bahwa variabel Pola makan merupakan variabel yang paling dominan karena nilai ORnya paling besar yaitu 4.965.

Abstract

Background : Hypertension is one of the leading causes of death in the world. World Health Organiation 2019 predicts the prevalence of hypertension in the world by 22% and the Southeast Asian region is ranked third with a prevelence of 25% of the total population, the results of Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) in 2018 showed that, the prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia is 34.11% and the prevalence of hypertension in South Sumatra is 30.44%. The Purpose : The purspose of the study was to find a effect of giving banana and melon smoothies to blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension in the sukarami health center in Palembang. Methods : With this type of research is pseudo experimentation (Quasi Experimentation). With pretest research design – Treatment – Postest with group control. The number of samples in this study was 60 people with 30 as a treatment group and 30 people in the comparison group. Results : The results of this study showed based on the age of most hypertensive patients in palembangsukarami health center aged 55-64 years. Based on gender as a large part is female. Energy Intake, Protein, Fat, Carbohydrates in the good category while for the intake of potassium and vitamin C in the category of less, sodium intake is mostly low salt diet 3. The results of statistical tests show (p<0.05) that there is an influence of banana and melon smoothies on blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension in Palembang Sukarami health center. Conclusion : Consumption of banana smoothies and melons regularly affects the decrease in blood pressure of hypertensive patients

Abstract

Background : Anemia in adolescents is one of the nutritional problems in Indonesia. The main cause is related to the intake of nutrients, especially energy and protein, as well as the consumption of vegetables and fruit. The Purpose : This study aims to determine the intake of energy, protein, and consumption of vegetables and fruit in adolescents and anemia status in adolescents. Methods : This study used a cross-sectional design, sampling was done by simple random sampling. The research location is in SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Palembang. Results : The results showed that respondents with normal hemoglobin (Hb) status, which was 61.5%, and 53.8% less nutritional knowledge. Lack of energy intake by 57.7%. A good intake of animal protein was 69.2% and a vegetable protein intake of less category was 78.8%. Good fat intake is 53.8%. Less carbohydrate intake by 55.8%. Vegetable consumption is less than the requirement of 71.2%. Consumption of fruit is less than the requirement of 63.5%. respondents with normal Hb status had good nutritional knowledge of 83.3%, a good energy intake of 63.3%, good animal protein intake of 72.2%, good vegetable protein intake of 90.9%, a low fat intake of 79, 2%, good carbohydrate intake is 78.0%, good vegetable consumption is 73.3%, good fruit intake is 73%. Respondents with less energy and protein intake tend to experience anemia. Conclusion : Adolescents with less consumption of vegetables and fruit tend to have the anemic status

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a degenerative disease caused by a lack of the hormone insulin, or the ineffectiveness of the body to use insulin which is indicated by the blood sugar level at ≥200 mg / dl. The manufacture of enteral formulas based on pumpkin flour and catfish meal is expected to be an alternative enteral food for people with diabetes mellitus.Purpose: The purpose of the study was to examine the effect of enteral diabetes mellitus formula based on pumpkin flour (cucurbitamoschata) and catfish meal (clariasgariepinus) on blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes mellitus at Charitas Hospital Palembang. Methods: This study useda pretest-posttest with two group research design. The number of samples of organoleptic test panelists as many as 30 people who were outpatient DM patients and 30 people each intervention sample for the treatment group and the comparison group were inpatients at Charitas Hospital Palembang Results:The results of data analysis using the dependent t-test showed that the average glucose levels before treatment in the treatment group were 192.24 mg/dl and 179.14 mg/dl in the comparison group. The average blood glucose after treatment in the treatment group was 177.61 mg/dl and in the comparison group was 190.02 mg/dl. Meanwhile, the independent sample t-test showed the difference in the average blood glucose level in the treatment group was 43.94 mg/dl and the comparison group was -13.86 mg/dl (p-value = 0.005). Conclusion:Administration of enteral DM formula based on pumpkin flour and catfish meal has an effect on blood glucose in DM patients.

Abstract

Background : Cookies are a type of pastries made from a soft and crunchy dough, high in fat content, and when broken, the cross-sectional texture is not too dense. Cookies with the substitution of purple yam flour and breadfruit flour which are rich in fiber are also very suitable to be consumed as a snack for diabetes mellitus patients. Purpose: The purpose of the study was to determine the acceptance test of purple sweet potato flour and breadfruit flour cookies as a snack in patients with type II diabetes mellitus. Methods: This study used an experimental study with a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Using Organoleptic Test with a panel of 50 people. Determination of nutritional value and fiber using proximate analysis and fiber analysis. Acceptance test using Friedman test. Results: The selected purple sweet potato and breadfruit flour cookie formulations were F1 (30 grams of purple sweet potato flour and 10 grams of breadfruit flour) with an energy content of 497.35 Kcal, 8.5% protein, 29.79% fat, 48 carbohydrates, 81%, 10.79% moisture content, 2.11% ash content, and 13.17% fiber in 100 g cookies. Based on the Friedman test, there is a relationship between the acceptance of purple sweet potato flour and breadfruit flour cookies in terms of aroma (p = 0.031) and taste (p = 0.006). Meanwhile, in terms of color and texture, there was no relationship between the acceptance of purple sweet potato flour and breadfruit flour cookies in terms of color (p = 0.836) and texture (p = 0.977). Conclusion: purple sweet potato flour and breadfruit flour cookies can be used as an alternative snack for people with diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Background: Malnutrition is a state of health problems that occurs when the body lacks of nutrients needed for development, thinking, and other life activities. The growth process that inhibits the lack of energy that causes the body to become weak and the immune system weakens, which will facilitate the spread of disease, as well as decreased mental development resulting in weak thinking skills and permanent disruption of brain function are the result of nutritional problems in toddlers. Purpose : The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving catfish flour cookies and mocaf flour to changes in the body weight of nourished children under five. Methods: The type of this research is a true experiment (pure experiment) with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. Results: The results of the independent t-statistical test the difference in the average weight difference of children under five in the treatment group increased by 337.50 g and in the control group increased by 187.50 grams with p-value = 0.000. Conclusion: Cookies of catfish flour and mocaf flour affect changes in the body weight of undernourished toddlers and can be used as alternative food additives.
