Abstract

This study examines the dominance of the brain layers of the reporter and the accused in the Investigation Report (BAP) of the defamation case at Polda Metro Jaya with a critical semiotic perspective, as well as its implications in the application of micro-learning for learning Indonesian at the Senior High School (SMA) level. The dominance of the three brain layers—reptile, limbic, and neocortex—influences the way the reporter and the accused construct the narrative in the BAP. A critical semiotic approach is used to understand how these brain responses are reflected in word choice, sentence structure, and communication patterns in the BAP text. The results of the study indicate that the dominance of the reptilian brain more often causes defensive reactions, while the limbic layer strengthens emotional expression. Neocortex dominance, on the other hand, encourages a more logical and rational argumentation structure. Based on the analysis of the two reporters and two accused, it can be seen that in the first case, the reporter is dominant in the reptilian brain layer, while the accused tends to be dominant in the mammalian brain layer. In the second case, the reporter tends to be dominant in the mammalian brain layer, while the accused tends to be dominant in the neocortex brain layer. This study also suggests the application of micro-learning in Indonesian language learning in high schools so that students can understand and identify the construction of meaning and psychological context in legal language. With this understanding, it is expected that students will have better critical literacy skills in analyzing texts with complex social contexts.

Abstract

This study employs a qualitative descriptive case‑study approach grounded in participatory observation of daily interactions, taped dialogue transcripts, and semi-structured parent interviews to analyze the pragmatic techniques of Zalva, a three-year-old child, through the lenses of Dardjowidjojo and Dworetzsky. By systematically coding and thematically analyzing naturalistic data, the research reveals that Zalva demonstrates sophisticated strategies such as giving advice, shifting topics, and offering reflective responses to social conventions. For instance, she counsels her father to refrain from consuming cold drinks and adeptly counters indirect criticism by asserting, “Zalva is occupied, please do not interrupt me.” These findings align with Dardjowidjojo’s emphasis on social and cultural interaction and Dworetzsky’s focus on cognitive adaptation in context. Practically, parents are encouraged to model directive and reflective speech acts during routine exchanges, while early‑childhood educators can incorporate role‑play and guided dialogue activities to foster children’s pragmatic competence. Future research should extend this case‑study framework to diverse cultural settings to deepen our understanding of early pragmatic development and its applications in educational and caregiving contexts.

Abstract

Language acquisition is  the process of acquiring the mother tongue, beginning with crying, cooing, and babbling, and eventually progressing to speaking. Between the ages of two and four, children demonstrate a noticeable development of language creativity. This study aims to provide example of  the evidence of language creativity of a four year old Indonesian child. This research is  a  qualitative method with case study approach. The subject of this research is a four year old Indonesia child. The data were collected through observation and note-taking, and then analysed descriptively to draw conclusions. The result of the observation in this study revealed 17 utterances that serve as evidence of the child’s language creativity. The result of this study can be concluded that childish creativity in language acquisition  is a kind of  speaking ability of  a child for overcoming his/her limitation for words they still do not have to describe  new things then, he made the mistake when he independently try to  use his  language. As for the creative use of language, based on the data of this research, it  can be caused by the child’ syntactical problem: misuse of adjective to make adverb,  time concept confusion, semantical problems: failure to combine nouns with correct adjectives to make the opposition of particular  words and morphological problems :the use of suffix for words to form verbs, which are caused the  absence of  dictions  to describe new things   but  his intended meanings can be easily understood. It also happened because of generalization  made by the child in order to overcome his limitation in speaking result in  improper word selection.

Abstract

AbstractThis study investigates psycholinguistic perspectives on interaction patterns that facilitate meaning acquisition in BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing/Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages) learning at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Employing a descriptive-analytic qualitative approach, the research examines how specific interaction patterns namely Student-Centered, Reciprocal, Collaborative, and Authentic Interactive support cognitive and linguistic processes in second language acquisition. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with two instructors and eight students from culturally diverse backgrounds, and thematic analysis of relevant teaching materials. The findings highlight the effectiveness of interactive and contextually enriched teaching strategies in improving students’ grasp of literal and contextual meanings, vocabulary mastery, and cultural competence. Drawing on Krashen’s Input Hypothesis and Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development, this study emphasizes the importance of comprehensible input and scaffolding in fostering meaningful learning. The practical outcomes include recommendations for psycholinguistics-based teacher training programs and the design of interactive instructional materials tailored to the needs of culturally diverse learners. These findings contribute to advancing BIPA teaching practices and strengthening Indonesia’s cultural diplomacy initiatives.AbstrakPenelitian ini mengkaji wawasan psikolinguistik terhadap pola interaksi yang mendukung pemerolehan makna dalam pembelajaran BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing) di UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Abstract

Drawing upon naturalistic data since the intake of English at the age of two, this longitudinal intrinsic case study examines the developmental trajectories of bilingual subject realization in an Early Second Language Acquisition (ESLA). Early bilingual exposure is widely recognized for its cognitive and linguistic benefits, yet challenges such as first language (L1) interference remain underexplored. This study focuses on a single child’s unique language learning journey which offers an in-depth exploration of how specific parental strategies, including exclusive use of English at home, curated media exposure, and interactive language use, contribute to the child reaching a CEFR B2 level by age seven. Despite the supportive language environment, this study identifies consistent patterns of L1 interference in areas such as syntax, word order, and morphology. Using qualitative analyses of spontaneous speech data, this study identifies recurring error patterns and their implications for bilingual language development. The findings emphasize the dual role of parental influence in fostering second language (L2) proficiency while also revealing structural challenges that necessitate personalized corrective strategies. This research offers practical insights for parents and educators in emphasizing the need for targeted interventions to mitigate L1 interference and optimize bilingual acquisition outcomes.
