Abstract

In debating activities, especially political debates, a speaker does not always issue arguments in the same way. Sometimes the speaker conveys his ideas kindly and gently, sometimes with diction that seems to have negative connotations, sometimes even silent and says nothing. Therefore, this study will analyze in depth the speech strategies produced by Indonesian officials and politicians in a political debate on the YouTube channel. The method used is qualitative with a note-taking technique. The source of the research data used was speech from officials and politicians in a debate event on the Indonesia Lawyers Club (ILC) YouTube channel. Data analysis was carried out through transcription and interpretation of spoken strategies from Brown and Levinson. The results showed that an unceremonious strategy was used to chime in on insubstantial unceremoniously unceremonious speech opponents. Furthermore, positive civility strategies usually tend to be used in political policy debates by parties who support or represent political policyholders. The strategy of negative politeness in political debates is usually used by speakers from the opposition who provide criticism of political policies. Furthermore, vague strategies are used by speakers in political debates as a way to suppress and provide resistance to the ideas spoken, no matter whether the ideas of the speech partners are complete or not. Finally, there is no silent or silent strategy to speak silently.

Abstract

Code mixing is a state of using one or more languages "‹"‹by including fragments or elements of another language without anything that requires mixing the language and is carried out in a relaxed state. The researcher aims to find out whether there is code-mixing in daily conversations between students of the Arabic Language Study Program, Faculty of Language and Arts, State University of Jakarta. To obtain this goal, this research is qualitative, therefore a method that is appropriate to this type of research is used, namely, a qualitative descriptive research method whose information is obtained through direct interviews with students working in the Study Program, where the data obtained are stated as they are. or naturalistic. The results of this study found that there was some code-mixing in the conversations of the students of the Arabic Language Study Program UNJ. It turns out that the code-mixing occurred here for several reasons. First, because the student is a new student at the Arabic Language Study Program, FBS UNJ. Second, the student wants to greet the researcher who is indeed older than the student, and is used to calling him "Bang" which should be "أخي". And the occurrence of code-mixing here is not because of intentional or other things, but because the student is still in the learning stage. And it happened not only to one student but almost happened among students regardless of their speech partners, lecturers, or their peers.

Abstract

Background: Drama texts translated into various languages are a form of communication across linguistic boundaries and a window that reveals the richness of diverse cultures. For actors, engaging in the performance of a multilingual script provides an incredible opportunity to explore the nuanced complexities of different cultures. Actors learn new words and soak up the soul of a culture that may be very different. Purpose: The main aim of this research is to (1) find out the extent to which language variations are used in translated drama scripts and (2) the extent to which language variations influence the way actors understand and portray characters. Design and methods: This research uses a content analysis method on intralingually translated drama texts sourced from the Matara Production archives. Results: The results of this research reveal (1) that three languages are used (English, Indonesian and Sundanese) and (2) that multiple languages are used to show narrative diversity, subtlety of relationships in roles and cultural context. The importance of using regional languages in specific cultural contexts becomes clear, as in the depiction of the local ghost, Kuntilanak, which adds another layer of cultural richness. Abstract

In this 21st century, the incorporation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become a prominent practice in various educational domains, including the learning of languages in the classroom. However, there are a small number of teachers who are not familiar with incorporating ICT in their classrooms due to numerous causes. By the given situation, this study aims to identify the disparities in students' engagement between English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms that utilize Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and those that do not. Additionally, it seeks to determine the predominant and higher forms of engagement in these two types of EFL classrooms. A descriptive qualitative approach was applied in this research. To obtain the data, the authors examined the level of student involvement during teaching and learning activities in two types of classrooms: those that employed ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and those that did not. Subsequently, the acquired data was scrutinized and categorized based on the parameters of students' involvement (behavioral, cognitive, and emotional). The results indicate that both classrooms are primarily characterized by students' behavioral involvement. The class that included ICT in its teaching and learning process experienced a 9.5% increase in students' cognitive engagement. The implication of this research is to encourage teachers to incorporate ICT in the classroom so that the students’ three engagement types can be achieved better proportionally.

Abstract

Psycholinguistic understanding helps teachers to detail teaching strategiesthat take into account how students process Arabic information, understandsentence structure, and overcome potential learning difficulties. Cognitivetheory emphasizes aspects of understanding, mental processes, and organizationin language acquisition. This view states that the stages of students' cognitivedevelopment influence their language development. In this research, theeffectiveness of the cognitive model in learning Arabic becomes a benchmark indetermining whether the teacher's role is fulfilled in applying psycholinguistic teststo students. So that the latest alternative for learning Arabic has emerged basedon its new understanding. In this research, the researcher limited it to languagestructure material or often referred to as nahwu (syntax). Because learning nahwuholds great urgency in developing Arabic language skills. This research uses aqualitative descriptive approach, as well as the use of metasynthesis techniques forSLR (systematic literature review) research. With the systematic literature reviewmethod, research will be carried out using systematic, explicit and reproduciblesteps to synthesize (identify, evaluate, interpret) a number of research works andideas that have been produced by researchers. The results of this research, in thecognitive aspect, researchers found that structural learning of Arabic (Nahwu) withthe TBL (Task Based Learning) and PBL (Problem Based Learning) models is a learning model that can provide significant learning results in improving students' cognitive abilities, because both This model provides stimulus to students. Thus making cognitive abilities develop efficiently and effectively. This makes PBL andTBL alternative options in learning Arabic which is based on psycholinguisticcognitive models
