Abstract

Research on the problems that exist in Pariaman 4 Senior High School, student learning competencies are still low. The effort that can be done is to apply the cooperative learning model course review horay  type with literacy content of SMAN 4 Pariaman. The purpose of this study was to study student learning through a cooperative model of course review horay  type with literacy at SMAN 4 Pariaman. This type of research is experimental research with randomized posttest control group design. The population in this study were all students of class XI IPA SMAN 4 Pariaman registered in 2018/2019. Sampling was done using the Simple cluster Sampling technique, which was chosen as the research sample was class XI IPA.1 as the experimental class and XI IPA.3 as the control class. The instrument used consisted of posttest questions for knowledge competencies, observation sheets for competencies and skills. The assessment hypothesis using the t-test, can prove the knowledge competency tcount 4.13> ttable 1.67, competency assessment value 80% with good categories and competency skills value tcount 3.21> ttable 1.67. This is an accepted hypothesis. It was concluded that the cooperative model of course review horay type with literacy opposed the competence of knowledge, attitudes, and skills of class XI IPA students of SMAN 4 Pariaman.

Abstract

This research was a descriptive research that aims at investigating how the level of students’ perceptions towards teacher’s learning strategies with Biology learning competencies of Grade X Students at SMAN 3 Pariaman. This study was conducted by distributing perception questionnaires of teacher’s learning strategies. The questionnaire consisted of 20 statements. It has been validated by a Biology Lecturer of UNP and a Biology Teacher who teach in SMAN 3 Pariaman. Data analysis of this study used calculation of score distribution and correlation analysis which can be used as descriptive analysis. Based on the findings, the result found that the students’ perceptions level towards teacher learning strategies was classified in a good category with percentage 83% , while the data of learning competencies was in a good category, that was 65.59, and there was a positive relation of perception towards teacher learning strategies and Biology learning cognitive competencies of students in SMAN 3 Pariaman. Relation of students’ perceptions towards teacher learning strategies with students’ competencies in learning biology was very weak with percentage 4.0%.

Abstract

This research is based on the problems that exist in Batusangkar 1 Junior High School, namely the learning model that is less varied, student learning abilities are still low, teacher-centered learning. The effort that can be done is to apply the snowball throwing learning model with scientific literacy in the material of Excretion System at Batusangkar 1 Junior High School. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the application of the snowball throwing learning model containing scientific literacy on the learning competencies of class VIII students of Batusangkar 1 Junior High School. This study was an experimental study with a randomized posttest control group design. The study population was grade VIII students of SMPN 1Batusangkar in the academic year 2018/2019 which spread to nine classes. The research sample was taken using cluster random sampling. The results were selected class VIII.3 as the experimental class and class VIII.4 as the control class. The hypothesis in this study was tested using the t-test. The results of the study using the t-test can be concluded that the competency of student knowledge about the value of tcount 4.31> ttable 1.67, in the attitude of competency the tcount 5.41> ttable 1.67, and competency skills tcount 3.85> ttable 1.67. This shows that the hypothesis is accepted. So, it can be concluded that the application of the snowball throwing model with scientific literacy can improve the competency of knowledge, attitudes, and skills of class VIII Batusangkar 1 Junior High School.

Abstract

This research is an experimental research which aims to see the influence of Teams Game Tournament (TGT) learning model on the motivation of students on immune system material at SMA Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP academic year 2018/2019. The implementation of this study does not allow researchers to control variables as a whole so that this study belongs to the quasi-experimental category with the design of control group posttest only design. Sampling in this study used saturation sampling technique. The technique of data analysis used statistical tests, namely the t test. The results of statistical tests showed that in a significant term (α = 0.05) the value of tcount> t tableis obtained, which is 3.28 > 1.67, then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. It can be concluded that the motivation of students using the Teams Game Tournament (TGT) learning model is higher than the motivation of students who use conventional learning. It can be interpreted that there is an influence of the Teams Game Tournament (TGT) learning model on the motivation of students on immune system material at SMA Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP.

Abstract

Learning media is one of the determinants of success in the learning process in school. The use of learning media will greatly help the effectiveness of the learning process and add one of the teaching materials that can be used by students in learning. But the role of learning media will not be seen if its use is not in accordance with the learning objectives that have been formulated. Students find it difficult to connect the concepts contained in the material, then students find it difficult to understand the material concepts. The material on biology teaching materials used is like narration, language that is difficult to understand, and the appearance is less attractive. To overcome this problem, the teacher needs to develop teaching materials that are expected to be interesting and easy to understand by students in understanding the concepts contained in biology learning material. Teaching materials developed are Handouts. This research is Development Research conducted at FMIPA UNP and Padang Junior High School 23, using the Plomp development model (2013). The subject of this study consisted of 2 lecturers of Biology Department FMIPA UNP, 1 Biology teacher at SMP 23 Padang, and 29 students in grade VII of SMP 23 Padang. The data in this study are data obtained from the validity test questionnaire and practicality test. This data includes primary data, namely data obtained directly from the research subject. From the research, produced a nuanced handout of drawings and concept maps of living class classification material for class VII students of SMP which were categorized as valid with a value of 4.50, stated to be very practical with a value of 4.60 by the teacher and very practical with a value of 4.40 by participants student.

Abstract

The low science cognitif competency of students is caused by several problem encountered during the learning process, between the learning model that is applied has not involved students actively in the learning process. One of the efforts that is done to increase students' learning competencies in science is to apply the Guided Inquiry learning model assisted by Mind Map. This learning assisted by the Mind Map guides students to be active. This study aims to reveal the influence of the use of the Guided Inquiry learning model assisted by Mind Map to the learning competencies of science students. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 27 Padang. in material of KD 3.7 about Circulatory System. This research is an experimental research using the Randomized Control Group Posttest Only Design. The study population was all grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 27 Padang. Sampling was taken by using purposive sampling technique. The control class used a conventional learning model which is commonly used in the class and experimental class using the Guided Inquiry learning model assisted by Mind Map. The research instrument used was a test of learning outcomes. The results of the t test were known that in the knowledge competency tcount> t table (2.76> 1.67). This showed that the hypothesis was accepted. So, it can be concluded that the Guided Inquiry learning model assisted by Mind Map has a positive effect on students' learning cognitive competencies in science.
