Abstract

The need for beef in Indonesia tends to increase along with fluctuated beef prices. The existence of price fluctuations will be a risk for producers and consumers. Therefore, price information is necessary, especially the future beef price and price forecasting is the answer to the need. The purpose of this study is to analyze and identify the best forecasting models for domestic and international beef prices. The data used is monthly retail price data for domestic and international beef from 2013:1-2017:12. Four models used in this study, namely decomposition models, ARIMA, moving averages, and Single Exponential Smoothing are applied. The best forecasting method for forecasting domestic and international beef prices is the ARIMA model based on the lowest values of MAD, MAPE, and MSD.

Abstract

The study aims to analyze the economic value of dried fish business by considering its added value of Hayami and marketing. This study uses primary data by surveying 55 dried fish producers in Bengkulu city. The results show that the average output price of dried fish is Rp6,586.61/kg. Using formula of Hayami’s added value, the average added value gained is Rp3,486.14/kg. This informs that every a kilogram of fresh fish processed into dried fish will create added value of Rp3,486.14. When labor under consideration, labor added value in fish dried industries is Rp651.37 informing that an average of labor income for every kilogram of fish dried produced. The research also found that there are four patterns of marketing channels. From weekly average production of dried fish, i.e., 4,345 kg, 43.73 % is distributed to big traders while the remaining, 56.27%, is consumed directly. From big traders, dried fish are then distributed through three channel, namely, (1) 43.11 % are marketed to the first intermediate trader, then, to intercity merchants, retailers and end customers in Bengkulu city, (2) 26.32% are distributed to second intermediate trader who then marketed to retailers and end customers; and (3) 31.58 % are marketed to third intermediate trader who, then, market to the intercity merchants and consumers. Marketing margins of this dried fish is Rp1,000/kg from producers to traders and Rp2,000/kg per kg of fish from traders to retailers.

Abstract

The statistical data of the Kepahiang Regency in 2018 shows that more than 90% of Kabawetan people worked in the agricultural sector as vegetable and coffee farmers. Due to the hilly morphology of the settlements, the settlement configurations should conform with the land contours. As the majority of the coffee farmers have limited land for drying the harvested coffee, portable architectural technology can then help overcome the problems with the limited house yard. This tool is used as a space for drying their coffee, especially during the rainy season. The method to transfer the portable coffee dryer design to the communities is by training them how to use the technology and introducing it with the help of props (prototypes). This introductory training was conducted for the Permata Sari farmer group in the farmer's house yard in Bukit Sari Village, Kabawetan District. The training activities included coordinating with the involved farmers, making coffee dryer designs, testing simple tools, and introducing the mobile coffee dryer technology to Permata Sari farmer group members in Bukit Sari Village, Kabawetan District Kepahiang Regency. Portable coffee dryers are urgently needed considering the contoured lands, limited space, and the frequency of rainy days in Kabawetan exceeds that of sunny days. However, this tool still requires further development, where it can be used as a sorting tool, particularly for sorting out the red pickled coffee that is dried using this tool.

Abstract

Bengkulu is said to be the center of the world's climate because of the influence of water conditions and the topography of the area where the rain cloud formation starts. The waters in Bengkulu Province become a meeting place for four ocean currents which eventually become an area where the evaporation process of forming rain clouds becomes the rainy or dry season and affects the world climate. Method to analyze descriptively, shows oldeman Classification and satellite rainfall estimation data is added. In relation to the Analysis of Potential Food Availability for the Coastal Areas of Bengkulu Province uses a quantifiable descriptive analysis method based. The results show that most are included in the Oldeman A1 climate zone, which means it is suitable for continuous rice but less production due to generally low radiation intensity throughout the year. In an effort to reduce or eliminate the impact of climate change on food crop production, it is necessary to suggest crop diversification, crop rotation, and the application of production enhancement technologies. Strategies in building food availability as a result of climate change are: First, develop food supplies originating from regional production and food reserves on a provincial scale. Second, Empowering small-scale food businesses which are the dominant characteristics of the agricultural economy, especially lowland rice and horticultural crops. Third, Increase technology dissemination and increase the capacity of farmers in adopting appropriate technology to increase crop productivity and business efficiency. Four, Promote the reduction of food loss through the use of food handling, processing and distribution technologies.
