Abstract

The provision of early cardiac rehabilitation intervention in patients with cardiovascular disease is necessary as it can accelerate recovery and determine the needs for the subsequent phases of cardiac rehabilitation. This study aims to identify the effectiveness of early cardiac rehabilitation on the quality of life of patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). The method used is a systematic review by searching articles in five journal databases: Clinical Key Nursing, ProQuest, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Scopus. Article analysis used the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic-Reviews and Meta-Analyses) method. The results of the study indicate that early cardiac rehabilitation significantly improves cardiac function, hemodynamic parameters, and patients mental health. Additionally, the use of innovative educational technologies, such as augmented reality and mobile applications, has been shown to enhance self-efficacy, exercise tolerance, and adherence to rehabilitation programs. Cardiac rehabilitation also provides additional benefits for patients with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) complications, improving cardiorespiratory function, exercise capacity, and quality of life. The conclusion from the ten analyzed articles suggests that comprehensive and structured early cardiac rehabilitation is effective in improving the quality of life of ACS patients and provides long-term benefits in the secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

Abstract

Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) is currently indicated for patients experiencing acute coronary syndrome and individuals with chronic stable angina that is refractory to optimal medical therapy. Advancements in devices, stent design, adjunctive technology, and the development of more potent and effective antiplatelet therapies have contributed to improved outcomes. However, major periprocedural complications during PCI remain a concern, with an overall transulnar access site complication rate of 41%, a vasospasm incidence of 7%, and a hematoma occurrence of 29%. Cold compress application is widely used due to its physiological effects, including vasoconstriction, reduced tissue metabolism, increased blood viscosity, and local anesthetic properties. Cold compresses can decrease blood flow and capillary permeability by inducing arteriolar vasoconstriction, thereby reducing bleeding. Objective: This study aims to examine the implementation of cold compress therapy in preventing hematoma in post-Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) patients. Methods: This study employs a systematic literature review approach. Data synthesis was conducted by analyzing eight studies that met quality assessment standards and inclusion-exclusion criteria. The databases used for literature retrieval included Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, EBSCO, and ProQuest. The findings were processed and presented in tabular form.Result: Cold compresses can help reduce hematoma and pain after a Percutaneous coronary Intervention (PCI), cold compresses can also help prevent hematomas. How cold compresses help cold compresses vasoconstrict blood vessels and cold compresses speed up blood clotting. Conclusion: The reviewed articles indicate that the application of an ice pack or cold compress is more effective in reducing pain and preventing hematoma caused by catheter removal in patients undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI).

Abstract

Adolescents with chronic illnesses are at high risk of psychological distress such as stress, anxiety and depression that can affect their overall quality of life. One of effective approaches to reduce these impacts is peer group support. This study was to examine the effects of peer group support intervention in reducing psychological distress in adolescents with chronic illness through scoping review. The articles were obtained from SpringerLink, Science Direct, Taylor & Francis, Proquest, Scopus, BMC, and PubMed databases. Article selection was done by the PRISMA-ScR method. Searches of 7 databases obtained 1,578 articles. Based on the inclusion criteria, 291 articles were eligible. Further screening based on title, abstract, and full text selected 10 articles for analysis. Furthermore, the quality of the article was assessed using Jonna Briggs Institute (JBI). The results showed that peer group support reduced stress, anxiety, depression, and increased social support and emotional well-being. Interventions that emphasized active communication among adolescents have a positive impact on psychological disorders. Peer group support can reduce psychological distress in adolescents with chronic illness. This approach also strengthens positive social relationships among adolescents. Further research is needed to explore the factors that influence the success of this intervention and develop more adaptive support models.

Abstract

Introduction: Emotional states significantly influence blood pressure among hypertensive patients. This study explores the impact of Islamic spiritual practices and emotional resilience in managing hypertension. Methods: We conducted in-depth interviews with 20 Muslim participants using a qualitative transcendental phenomenological approach. Result: Analysis revealed five primary themes: 1) Suppression of anger through Islamic teachings; 2) Enhanced resilience through religious practices; 3) Improvement in mental relaxation via prayer and dhikr; 4) Physical management to alleviate stress-related symptoms; 5) Socio-cultural activities fostering mental stability. Discussion: The findings suggest that Islamic spiritual practices contribute to emotional resilience by providing coping mechanisms that reduce psychological stress, a known factor in elevated blood pressure. Integrating spiritual, physical, and socio-cultural dimensions creates a holistic approach that supports better hypertension control. This model highlights the importance of culturally and spiritually tailored interventions in chronic disease management. Conclusion: Integrating Islamic spiritual, physical, and socio-cultural approaches enhances hypertension management and patient well-being.
