Abstract

This study aims to describe referential devices, substitution ellipsis, and conjunction in qira’at (the reading) text of Al-Arabiya Baina Yadaik (ABY) II book. This research uses a qualitative method in an appropriate setting with a grammatical cohesion analysis approach to identify the grammatical elements from a reference perspective within the qira’at text in the ABY II book. The obtained data subsists of grammatical cohesion, including referential devices, substitution, ellipsis, and conjunction in qira’at (the reading) text. Due to the limited research time, there were only eight qira’at texts, from wihdah (unit) 1-8 of the ABY II book, explored in this research. The results indicate that (1) the referential devices in the qira’at texts is personal (subsisting of third-person singular ‘mufrad’, dual ‘mutsanna’, and plural), demonstrative ( the word ذلك) and comparative (the words that compare sentences); (2) the identified substitution devices are nominal and clause substitution; (3) the discovered ellipsis devices are nominal, verbal and clause ellipsis; and (4) the found conjunction devices are temporal, causal, additive, and adversative.

Abstract

This present research was aimed at describing (1) the learning of reading Arabic using Memrise and (2) the effect of the use of Memrise on the reading skills among the seventh-grade students at MTsN (State Islamic Junior High School) 1 Malang City. Reading in this present research is learning to read vocabulary and sentences. This research adopted a quantitative approach where the subjects were the seventh grades E and H students at MTsN 1 Malang City in learning Arabic using Memrise. The students were asked to learn online independently. The data were obtained from the test results. The data source was respondents from the students of seventh Grades E and H. The research instruments were pretests and posttestsposttests. The data analysis technique used was the t-test. The results showed the following: (1) the learning of reading Arabic using Memrise was carried out through the following steps: learning the material, pronouncing words, interpreting words according to pictures, and doing quizzes. (2) Based on the results of the t-test, it can be concluded that using Memrise in learning Arabic can positively affect students' reading skills. Keywords: Reading skills, Memrise. الملخص يهدف هذا البحث الحالي إلى وصف (1) تعلم قراءة اللغة العربية باستخدام ميمريس و (2) تأثير استخدام ميمريس على مهارات القراءة بين طلاب الصف السابع في المدرسة الثانوية الحكومية الأولى مالانج. تعلم القراءة المشار إليه في هذا البحث هو قراءة المفردات والجمل. اعتمد هذا البحث نهجًا كميًا حيث كان الموضوع طلاب الصف السابع E و H في المدرسة الثانوية الحكومية الأولى مالانج في تعلم اللغة العربية باستخدام ميمريس. طُلب من الطلاب التعلم عبر الإنترنت بشكل مستقل. تم الحصول على البيانات من نتائج الاختبار. كان مصدر البيانات عبارة عن مستجيبين من طلاب الصف السابع E و H. كانت أدوات البحث عبارة عن اختبارات تمهيدية وبعدية. كانت تقنية تحليل البيانات المستخدمة هي اختبار T. أظهرت النتائج ما يلي: (1) تم تعلم قراءة اللغة العربية باستخدام ميمريس من خلال الخطوات التالية ، وهي تعلم المادة ، ونطق الكلمات ، وتفسير الكلمات وفقًا للصور ، وإجراء الاختبارات القصيرة. Abstract

The book of Madarij al Durus al Arabiyah, written in 1950, is the legendary Arabic language teaching book of Kyai Bashori Alwi. He is a famous figure in Arabic and the knowledge of the Quran. Scholars still use the book today. But several sections of it need to be updated. One of which is in the language skill aspect. The book focuses on speaking, writing, and reading skills but not listening. According to the current standardization, its physical form and organization need to be updated. The study's purpose is to develop a communicative Arabic exercise book based on Madarij al-Durusn al-Arabiyah using QR-Code technology. The method used is research and development using the ADDIE model. The researcher obtained the data through interviews, observations, and questionnaires. The result of this research and development study is an exercise book validated by material and media experts. It has been applied to 20 students and gained feasibility with 89,95% in percentage. It shows that the exercise book is ready to be used and get an excellent score. Therefore, we can conclude that the material of a communicative Arabic exercise book based on madarij al-durus al-arabiyah using QR-Code technology is ready to be used and has excellent quality. Keywords: Madarij al-Durus al-Arabiyah, Exercise Book, QR-Code Abstrak Kitab Madarij al Durus al Arabiyah yang ditulis pada tahun 1950 merupakan kitab pengajaran bahasa Arab legendaris Kyai Bashori Alwi. Beliau adalah tokoh terkenal dalam bahasa Arab dan pengetahuan tentang Al Qur’an. Para sarjana masih menggunakan buku itu sampai sekarang. Tetapi beberapa bagian perlu diperbarui. Salah satunya dalam aspek keterampilan berbahasa. Buku ini berfokus pada keterampilan berbicara, menulis, dan membaca tetapi tidak mendengarkan. Sesuai dengan standarisasi saat ini, bentuk fisik dan organisasinya perlu diperbarui. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengembangkan buku latihan bahasa Arab komunikatif berbasis Madarij al-Durusn al-Arabiyah dengan menggunakan teknologi QR-Code. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan dengan menggunakan model ADDIE. Peneliti memperoleh data melalui wawancara, observasi, dan kuesioner. Hasil penelitian dan pengembangan ini berupa buku latihan yang telah divalidasi oleh ahli materi dan media. Telah diterapkan pada 20 siswa dan memperoleh kelayakan dengan persentase 89,95%. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa buku latihan siap digunakan dan mendapatkan nilai yang sangat baik. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa materi buku latihan bahasa Arab komunikatif berbasis madarij al-durus al-arabiyah dengan menggunakan teknologi QR-Code siap digunakan dan memiliki kualitas yang sangat baik. Abstract

This study aims to describe the prototype designs of the Corpus of Arabic debates. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) which purpose to produce product prototype designs. The author performs three stages of several stages of the existing method. First the analysis, second the planning, and third the development. The research data is in the form of audio-visual debates from the 'Qatardebate' account and debate technical handbooks. All data were collected in a corpus of website-based debates. The results showed that (a) the design of the debate corpus was carried out in two stages, namely the collection of needs and the design of the debate corpus, (b) to create an appropriate debate delivery structure, it must synthesize debate practices and guidelines applied, and (c) the Arabic debate corpus serves to analyze the use of corcondance and the frequency of words used by debaters.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to design crossword puzzles on the Internet (web) to teach Arabic vocabulary in secondary schools and describe its quality. The researcher used the ADDIE method, which consisted of five stages: analysis, design, development, application, and evaluation. The sample in this study were students of class VII and VIII MTs Mambaul Ulum Pakis. The data in this study consisted of two types: quantitative data and qualitative data, and the collection method was a questionnaire. The results of this study are (1) Arabic vocabulary teaching materials have used crossword puzzles on the Internet (web) which can be opened and used via the URL http://ttsBahasaarab-mkbaum.com/. The material used is taken from the Ihsan Cendekia Learning Module for the 2013 Curriculum (k13), and this book is published with the construction of the 2013 Curriculum and published by Citra Mentari, compilers: Zainal Arifi, S.Pd, Dra. Siti Mardhiyyah, Nanang Sholihudin, S, Ag., the material consists of 330 vocabularies, the development of all vocabularies in the form of crossword puzzles and their introduction on the web. (2) The results of the expert assessment of product suitability obtained 92.8 percent, from education materials experts and 87.5 percent from teaching aids experts, while for the results of field experiments obtained 80.9 percent, meaning that this product is very valid and applicable.

Abstract

Rapid development of technology influences learning process where online learning has replaced the traditional learning. However, because of the numerous problems posed by this transition, the learning process has changed to use blended learning by utilizing technological media. This research aims to describe the utilization of Memrise in Arabic language learning with blended learning method and to describe the obstacles in utilizing Memrise in learning process. This study employs a descriptive qualitative methodology with Miles-Huberman’s data analysis techniques. This study revealed that the process of utilizing Memrise in Arabic language learning using the blended learning method is conducted through several stages, which are preparing the media, face-to-face learning, and online learning. The obstacles in utilizing Memrise in learning process faced by the teacher and students, including inadequate facilities, extra payment for more features and less flexible quizzes.

Abstract

Abstract: Intellectually disabled children have difficulty understanding abstract things such as Arabic letters. An appropriate learning media that can help them learn is significantly needed. In addition, some Intellectually disabled children can only pronounce Arabic letters but do not know the shape of the Arabic letters. In this context, ABATA media associates and equates Arabic letters with surrounding objects in their form and pronunciation so that intellectually disabled children can know the form and pronunciation of Arabic letters. This research aims to describe the ABATA media and its effectiveness. This research uses narrative review by gathering data from various sources, analyzing and designing the media. ABATA media is designed based on visual media and adopts the analogy method by equating the form of objects with Arabic letters, and the pronunciation of Arabic letters is the same as the initial syllable of objects. Based on the search for various literature sources conducted by the researchers, ABATA media is predicted to be adequate for mentally disabled children in introducing Arabic letters. This is because the visual media and analogy methods that are the basis for developing the ABATA media have proven effective and acceptable to intellectually disabled children. Therefore, ABATA media is believed to make it easier to introduce the shape and pronunciation of Arabic letters. Keywords: Arabic letters, visual media, analogy, intellectual disability. Abstrak: Anak tunagrahita mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami hal yang bersifat abstrak, seperti huruf Arab sehingga diperlukan media yang dapat mengonkretkan hal tersebut. Selain itu, terdapat anak tunagrahita yang hanya mampu melafalkan huruf Arab namun tidak mengetahui bentuk huruf Arab tersebut. Dalam konteks ini, media ABATA mengaitkan dan menyamakan huruf Arab dengan benda-benda sekitar dalam bentuk dan pengucapannya agar anak tunagrahita mampu mengetahui bentuk sekaligus pelafalan huruf Arab. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan media ABATA dan keefektifannya secara konseptual. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode narrative review dengan mencari berbagai sumber, menganalisis, dan kemudian mendesain media. Media ABATA dirancang berbasis media bergambar dan mengadopsi metode analogi dengan menyamakan bentuk benda dengan bentuk huruf Arab. Adapun pelafalan huruf Arab disamakan dengan suku awal benda. Berdasarkan penelusuran berbagai literatur yang telah dilakukan oleh peneliti, media ABATA diprediksikan efektif untuk diterapkan kepada anak tunagrahita dalam mengenalkan huruf Arab. Hal ini didasarkan pada kenyataan bahwa media bergambar dan metode analogi yang menjadi basis pengembangan media ABATA ini terbukti efektif dan mampu diterima oleh anak tunagrahita. Oleh karena itu, media ABATA diyakini mampu mempermudah dalam pengenalan bentuk sekaligus pelafalan huruf Arab. Kata kunci:  huruf Arab, media bergambar, analogi, tunagrahita

Abstract

Istimâ' Ibtidâ'i course in the Arabic Language Education Department at the State University of Malang refers to the Al-‘Arabiyyah baina Yadaik material only in the form of learning audio. The aims of this study were to: 1) use the material “Academic Arapça” to improve listening skills of undergraduate students in Arabic Language Education Department, and 2) improve listening skills in undergraduate students of Arabic language after using the material “Academic Arapça”. The method research is a classroom action research with quantitative data processing. The results from this research can be concluded that the learning outcomes of students in listening learning obtained an average pretest score of 71 .57 and a post-test of 94.47. Furthermore, the result from the N-Gain is in the high category with a percentage of 81, 18%, which show an increase in results in the use of “Academic Arapça” for the special learning process of the Arabic language department.

Abstract

The goal of this research was to explain how to develop a word root-based digital dictionary for shorof mastery to make it easier for language learners in recognizing word root and meaning in the use of dictionaries as well as to find meaning of each or some vocabularies in the text. The research method used in this study was Research and Development, using the ADDIE model which includes five stages, namely (1) analysis, (2) design, (3) development, (4) implementation, and (5) evaluation. The subjects were college students and students of Al-Khoirot Islamic Boarding School Malang. The data collection techniques were observation, interview, and questionnaire. This development research data analysis technique used two data analysis techniques, namely qualitative descriptive analysis and quantitative descriptive analysis. The qualitative data is in the form of data identification, data grouping, data presentation and explanation, and conclusion. While the quantitative data is a percentage analysis technique in analyzing quantitative data. The results of this development were in the form of a word root-based digital dictionary for shorof mastery that has six displays, which are preface, instructions for use, dictionary, exercises, references, and developers. The assessment by students and college students reached an average score of 94.7% which is valid category. Hence, it can be concluded that this digital dictionary is feasible to use at any time in learning Arabic and students are able to learn independently wherever they are.

Abstract

This study aims to map the learning of Arabic in Senior High Schools and Vocational Schools in Malang Regency covering the aspects of 1) teacher qualification, 2) curriculum and development, 3) teaching materials, 4) teaching strategies, 5) instructional media, and 6) evaluation implementation. The research was conducted with a descriptive model. Of the population 183 Senior High School and Vocational Schools, 12 schools were taken using a cluster sampling. The data were collected using questionnaires filled by Arabic teachers in all sample schools. The data analysis was performed according to the steps a) identification of data, b) tabulation of data, c) data grouping, d) data quantification, and e) description of data. This study found (1) all Arabic teachers in Senior High Schools and Vocational Schools in Malang Regency have a standard qualification of Arabic teacher in school, (2) Senior High Schools and Vocational Schools in Malang Regency using the Ministry of Education and Culture KTSP curriculum which was elaborated by teachers into syllabus form and Lesson plans, (3) teaching materials used were in the form of textbooks and student worksheets with various titles and publishers, (4) reading and vocabulary learning was carried out with translation techniques; speaking skills were trained by giving students time to practice dialogue, and writing skills were trained through sentence exercises, copying texts, combining two sentences, and completing paragraphs; (5) teachers utilized instructional media, drawings, original objects, hearing, charts/scheme, or language lab; and (6) the majority of teachers evaluated the lessons at the end of each unit.
