Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving skills remain a persistent challenge for elementary students, partly due to the lack of contextual learning approaches that connect mathematics with local culture. However, limited empirical evidence examines whether integrating local wisdom into learning models can enhance students’ problem-solving performance across gender. This study aimed to analyze the effect of Discovery Learning integrated with Lampung local wisdom on students’ mathematical problem-solving skills and to examine whether this effect differs by gender. Using a quasi-experimental 2×2 factorial design, this study involved 41 fifth-grade students at a public elementary school in Pesisir Barat Regency, selected through random sampling. Data were collected using a validated problem-solving test and analyzed using two-way ANOVA. The results indicated that: (1) the learning model had a significant effect on problem-solving skills, (2) there was no significant difference between male and female students, and (3) no interaction effect was found between learning model and gender. These findings highlight the effectiveness of culturally integrated Discovery Learning in improving students’ mathematical problem-solving skills in an inclusive manner. The study contributes to the growing literature on culturally responsive mathematics instruction and encourages educators to use local-wisdom-based approaches to support equitable 21st-century skill development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze bibliometric mapping of research on self-efficacy and digital competence in Scopus-indexed journals published between 2015 and 2025. The dataset was retrieved from the Scopus database in March 2025 using the query “keywords” with a filter for elementary school, covering a time span of 2015–2025. After screening, a total of 127 documents were included. Bibliometric data were processed using Microsoft Excel and VOS Viewer version 1.6.20 with parameters set at a minimum of five keyword occurrences and full counting method. The annual distribution of publications shows an increasing trend in recent years, reflecting growing academic attention to the topic. Analysis by country indicates that Spain and Germany are the most productive contributors, with active collaboration networks identified at regional and institutional levels. Co-authorship analysis confirms the presence of collaborative research, though large-scale international collaboration remains limited. Document type analysis shows that most outputs are journal articles, followed by conference papers. Keyword co-occurrence mapping highlights “self-efficacy,” “human,” and “digital competence” as the most frequently used terms. Less explored but emerging themes include “digital technology,” “human experimental,” and “questionnaire,” suggesting potential research gaps. Overall, the findings indicate that while research on self-efficacy in students’ digital competence is expanding, opportunities remain for broader international collaboration and exploration of underrepresented themes in 21st century educational practices.

Abstract

Mobile-based games have become integral to children's daily lives, particularly among primary school students, serving not only as entertainment but also as potential learning tools. This study aims to identify the types of mobile-based games frequently played by primary students and analyze their contribution to learning outcomes. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed, involving 69 fourth-grade students from three primary schools. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews to capture students' gaming habits and perceptions of their learning experiences. The findings reveal that all participants (100%) have engaged with mobile-based games, with 52 different game types recorded. Action (77%) and adventure (36%) categories emerged as the most popular. Notably, 86% of students reported playing games related to school subjects. These educational games were found to enhance student engagement, foster creativity, and make learning more enjoyable. Specifically, 55% of students rated learning through games as enjoyable, while 42% considered it somewhat enjoyable. The study demonstrates the significant role mobile-based games play in supporting learning, indicating their potential to complement traditional teaching methods. However, the study is limited to a small sample size and specific grade level, suggesting the need for broader research. Future studies should explore the development of structured game-based learning frameworks and encourage collaboration between educators and game developers to design effective educational tools tailored to students' interests.

Abstract

Higher education today increasingly emphasizes the development of students' creativity and critical thinking skills. The Project Based Learning (PBL) model has become an effective approach in this context. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of PBL to improve students' creativity in writing scientific literary poetry using archaic words. This research used an experimental method by dividing students into two groups: an experimental group using PBL and a control group using conventional methods. Data were then collected from pre-test and post-test scores of students in both groups, then analyzed using descriptive analysis and Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney statistical tests. The results showed a significant increase in the ability to write poetry in the experimental group compared to the control group. The average post-test score of the experimental group increased from 30.35 to 32.43, while the control group experienced a decrease from 28.07 to 27.52. Statistical tests showed a significant difference between the two groups, with a Mann-Whitney U value of 214,000 and a significance of 0.000. These findings indicate that the implementation of PBL is effective to increase students' creativity and poetry writing skills. Therefore, the use of PBL as a learning strategy is highly recommended to develop students' creativity and learning outcomes in the context of higher education

Abstract

This research is based on the government's efforts to improve harmony between Indonesian communities through religious moderation. So, this research was conducted to identify the challenges and opportunities faced in implementing religious moderation through learning natural sciences and social studies in elementary schools. Elementary schools play a strategic role in fostering moderate character through the integration of tolerant values, especially in the natural sciences and social sciences learning curriculum. The preparation of this article uses a literature review. The results of the study show that learning natural and social sciences has an important role and is a forum in forming a moderate generation. The natural sciences develop critical and objective thinking to prevent fanaticism, while the social sciences teach social diversity and how to coexist with a pluralistic society. However, this is accompanied by challenges such as teachers' lack of understanding of religious moderation. In conclusion, religious moderation is important for Indonesian people to live in harmony, this can be realized through teaching from elementary school through collaborative learning in natural sciences and social sciences learning. Meanwhile, training with nuances of religious moderation for teachers is an option to add insight in carrying out learning practices with students.
