Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving ability is one of the essential competencies students need to master; however, in reality, many students still face difficulties in developing this skill. One effort to improve it is through the implementation of Case Base Learning while also considering affective factors such as curiosity. This study aims to examine the effect of Case Base Learning and curiosity on students’ mathematical problem-solving ability. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The population consisted of all ninth-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Abung Semuli, with a total sample of 65 students selected using cluster random sampling. The sample consisted of two classes: class IX H as the experimental class, which applied Case Base Learning, and class IX F as the control class, which applied Direct Instruction. The instruments used were a mathematical problem-solving test and a curiosity questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using two-way ANOVA with prerequisite tests, namely normality and homogeneity tests. The results of the study revealed that: (1) Case Base Learning was more effective than Direct Instruction in improving students’ mathematical problem-solving ability, (2) curiosity had a significant role in enhancing students’ mathematical problem-solving ability, and (3) there was no interaction between Case Base Learning and curiosity in influencing students’ mathematical problem-solving ability.

Abstract

Learning science is one of the ways that education works to improve the quality of human resources by enhancing personality and abilities. In this study, researchers adopted a specific quantitative methodology. The research instrument used a student learning responsibility questionnaire with 25 statements and observation sheets of students' scientific inquiry skills with 18 statements ranging from very bad to very good. 237 junior high school students from state schools on the east coast grade 7 were used as research samples selected using purposive sampling technique. Data from the research sample can be evaluated after it has been gathered. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used in the data analysis. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between learning responsibility and science process skills of junior high school students in suburban cities. There is a positive and unidirectional relationship between student responsibilities and students' science process skills in science subjects for junior high school students in suburban cities as indicated by the correlation between student learning responsibilities and science process skills, a correlation coefficient of 0.710 is obtained. Based on the results of the Follow-up Test, the average responsibility of the three junior high school students in suburban cities is significantly different from the significance value used, which is 0.05. The significance value obtained for the character of responsibility is 0.020 which is lower than the significance value used, which is 0.05. The researcher suggests that future scientists utilize research findings as a source of information to carry out additional research and close gaps in their knowledge.

Abstract

Abstract is written using Sylfaen letters, size 11, space 1 with a maximum text length of 165 words. Abstracts are written in the standard Indonesian version with enhanced spelling. Abstracts are also written in the English version with applicable conditions. Abstract contains objectives, methods, results and conclusions. This research is an exploratory type of research that aims to find out the difficulties experienced by students in mathematics physics lectures and solutions to overcome them. The method used is quantitative and qualitative research methods with data collection instruments in the form of questionnaires and interview sheets. The number of samples set by the researchers amounted to 30 students as the subject of distributing the questionnaire and 10 students as the subject of the interview. The sample in this study was selected by purposive sampling technique. The data analysis carried out by the researcher was using statistics while the data analysis from the interviews was carried out with 3 main activities, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The result of this research is that students have difficulty understanding the material in my mathematics lectures because of the use of books that are less varied and the main books used in English and the derivation of formulas are not presented in detail. Therefore, researchers are encouraged to develop electronic modules where 43.3% of students agree and 23.3% of students strongly agree to develop electronic modules in mathematics practicum I lectures. Keywords: development; electronics module; mathematical physics I

Abstract

Indonesia has the largest mangrove forest area in the world, yet its utilization as a source of local food remains suboptimal. This study aims to identify the morphological characteristics, potential benefits, and processing techniques of pidada fruit (Sonneratia caseolaris) and jeruju leaves (Acanthus ilicifolius) into traditional food products by coastal communities in Lembur Mangrove Patikang Village, Pandeglang Regency, Banten. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and literature review, using purposive sampling targeting local PKK women as key informants. The findings reveal that both mangrove plants have been traditionally processed for generations into various food products such as syrup, dodol, jam, rujak, and chips. These processing methods are rooted in local wisdom, although challenges persist in marketing and raw material availability due to weather-related factors. The study concludes that the utilization of mangrove plants as local food sources contributes to food security and the economic improvement of coastal communities and should be supported through training, innovation, and appropriate promotional efforts. Keywords: Food Innovation, Jeruju Leaves, Local Food, Mangrove, Pidada Fruit Abstrak Indonesia memiliki hutan mangrove terluas di dunia, namun pemanfaatannya sebagai sumber pangan lokal masih belum optimal.
