Abstract

Waste management in Indonesia is still mixed, between organic and inorganic materials and also have very high landfill waste. Increased precipitation will adversely affect the trash heap, where organic materials in the garbage will decay and will produce liquid waste. In order to manage waste properly at the end should require a final disposal (TPA) so that leachate generated from the decomposition of garbage can be channeled properly in pools shelters located in landfills is called leachate pond. In this research, the characterization of magnetic minerals leachate TPA Air Dingin Kota Padang. This study aims to look at the morphology and elemental composition of the leachate at six points on the leachate pond and river sampling, and sewer landfill. Characterization of magnetic minerals is done using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) aims to look at the morphology , followed by Energy Dispersive spectroscope (EDS) aims to determine the elemental composition . This study used 10 samples taken from six points leachate ponds and 4 points of the river,  and sewer . Leachate, rivers , and gutter first extracted with methanol using bath soap which aims to separate the magnetic and non-magnetic minerals. Magnetic mineral morphology analysis using SEM known , that the leachate, rivers , and ditch  generally spherical mineral and square and there are many rengkahan . In addition, the size of grains of magnetic minerals belong to the group multidomain ie measuring >20 µm . Abstract

Pahae Julu is a sub-district located in North Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra. This area is often found with volcanic material from the eruption of Mount Toba (Youngest Toba Tuff). The Youngest Toba Tuff eruption occurred ~74,000 years ago with a volume of 2,800 km3. When there is an eruption, the lava on the earth's surface undergoes a relatively fast freezing process to form volcanic igneous rock. These rocks contain various minerals, one of which is magnetic minerals that can be used as a track record of volcanic processes from Mount Toba. However, no document records the magnetic susceptibility value of the Youngest Toba Tuff volcanic rock in the Pahae Julu area. This research aimsbfor knowing the abundance of magnetic minerals by the low-field magnetic susceptibility. To achieve this goal, the rock magnetism method is used. This way is very effective, cheap, sensitive, and non-destructive. Magnetic susceptibility measurements are done using the Bartington Magnetic Susceptibility Meter MS2B sensor. Rock samples analyzed are pumice which is the result of the Youngest Toba Tuff eruption. The results showed that the magnetic susceptibility value obtained for the sample was between 85.0 x 10-8m3/kg – 183.1 x 10-8m3/kg with an average of 119.78 x 10-8m3/kg. Based on this value, it is assumed that the magnetic mineral properties are Antiferromagnetic. The average value of χ fd% obtained is 0.95%, indicating that the Youngest Toba Tuff volcanic rock in the Pahae Julu area has almost no Superparamagnetic grains.

Abstract

Physics learning is learning that requires students to understand the concepts. In fact, most students still do not understand the concepts they have learned, especially the concepts in Newton's Law so that it can cause misconceptions. Students' misconceptions on Newton's Law can be identified using diagnostic tests. However, this diagnostic test is not yet available in schools. The purpose of this study was to produce a valid and reliable Four-Tier Multiple Choice Test instrument on Newton’s Laws material. The type of research carried out is design research with the Plomp development model. This research is limited to two steps, which are Preliminary Research and Prototype Phase. The data collection instruments in this study were interview guides, student concept tests, self-evaluation sheets and product validation sheets. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis for the interview guides, coding techniques for the concept test, Aiken’s formula for validation sheet and for the reliability using KR-20 formula. The results of preliminary research shows that teachers use more conventional learning which has the potential to cause misconceptions. Meanwhile, more than 50% of students experience misconceptions. Furthermore, the results of the instrument validation are: first, the validity aspect of the instrument scores between 0.56 to 0.79 which are in the valid category. Second, the reliability scores of the instrument is 0,90 which is in the very high category. It means Four-Tier Multiple Choice Test instrument on Newton’s Laws material can be used.

Abstract

Student misconceptions occur because students build their own concepts from their own environment without the help of experts, therefore, students' initial knowledge that is not the same as expert opinion is what causes misconceptions. This study aims to produce an interactive conflict-based cognitive e-module to remediate misconceptions and improve students' understanding of concepts about force. This type of research is design or development research using the Plomp model, with 3 phases, namely; (1) preliminary research, (2) development phase and (3) assessment phase. This research is limited to the expert review development phase. The preliminary research was conducted by reviewing 5 journals about the problems of students' misconceptions on the concept of force. At the development phase, e-module design, self-evaluation, and expert review of the e-module prototype are carried out. The data were obtained from the self-evaluation assessment sheet by three researchers and the validation sheet by three physics lecturers. Based on the preliminary research, it was found that there were problems in understanding the concept of students in the material of force. Therefore, a cognitive conflict-based emodule was designed that could improve students' conceptual understanding. The self-evaluation results of the emodule design showed that the e-module design was in the very good category with an average of 93.4. The results of the expert's study showed that the e-module design was in a very valid category with an average of 85.6.
