Abstract

The primary purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between auditor independence and audit quality in developing economies by systematically reviewing 24 publications published between 2014 and 2025 from the Scopus database, following PRISMA guidelines. The study also used bibliometric analysis to provide a base for quantitative analysis from selected papers using VOSviewer and Biblioshiny (RStudio). The study employed various theories to examine the link between auditor independence and audit quality, elucidating how incentives, institutions, and stakeholders shape auditor conduct. These theories include agency theory, institutional theory, and stakeholder theory. Additionally, the study examines empirical evidence on the relationship between independence and quality in developing economies. It creates a conceptual framework that links this relationship through several moderating and mediating factors, including audit fees, non-audit services (NAS), tenure, regulations, and political connections. Findings of this study reveal that independence significantly influences audit quality, but its effectiveness depends heavily on vigorous regulatory enforcement, ethical commitment, and institutional support. The study has several limitations, including reliance on secondary data, publication bias, and the majority of the reviewed studies employing quantitative approaches, which have restricted our knowledge of the behavioral and ethical aspects of independence. It has been recommended that future researchers adopt mixed-methods approaches, conduct cross-sectional studies, and, most importantly, research trending topics such as digital audit technologies and ESG assurance in relation to data analytics, which are generating new threats to independence that are not covered by known frameworks.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This community engagement initiative aims to empower women entrepreneurs in Jabung Village, Panekan Subdistrict, Magetan Regency, East Java, through the implementation of product innovation and the utilization of digital technology to strengthen the local economy. The primary challenges faced by the target group include limited knowledge of digital marketing, poor packaging quality, and restricted market reach. The program was executed through a series of activities comprising training sessions, technology transfer, demonstrations, and intensive mentoring, involving 15 women entrepreneurs as core partners. A participatory approach based on Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) was employed, enabling active involvement of participants in every stage of the program. The outcomes indicate a significant improvement in the participants' ability to manage digital business accounts on platforms such as Tokopedia, Instagram Business, Facebook Business, and TikTok Business, with an average understanding increase of 73%, as measured by pre- and post-test evaluations. Furthermore, 85% of participants successfully created and managed online business accounts, 75% consistently uploaded product content with enhanced appeal, and 80% actively utilized social media for promotional purposes. Innovation was also evident in packaging design, with 85% of participants developing brand-identified labels, thereby enhancing consumer perception and market appeal. The tangible impacts of the program include an average sales increase of 25%, expansion of market reach beyond the village, and a rise in women's contribution to household income from 10–15% to 25–30%. These findings underscore that MSME digitalization through training, technology transfer, and branding enhancement can significantly improve women's economic independence while sustainably strengthening the local economy. Keywords: women empowerment, entrepreneurship, digitalization, product innovation, branding, local economy.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance the capacity of Posyandu cadres in the early detection and intervention of speech delay among young children in Wage Village, Taman Subdistrict, Sidoarjo, through the utilization of the interactive digital application Speech Blubs. The implementation method was designed to be participatory and practical, combining classical training sessions, interactive discussions, application usage simulations, and hands-on mentoring at the Posyandu level. The program was conducted in five structured phases: planning, implementation, mentoring, evaluation, and follow-up. A total of 15 Posyandu cadres participated in the entire series of activities. Evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test instruments to assess changes in participants’ knowledge and skills. The results indicated an average score improvement of 68%, reflecting the effectiveness of the training approach. In addition to technical competency, the cadres demonstrated increased confidence in operating the application, conducting developmental observations, and engaging parents in the intervention process. This program affirms that integrating technology-based training with family-centered approaches can significantly strengthen community-level early detection services for speech delay. The model presents potential for replication in other regions with similar needs.

Abstract

This community service program was implemented under the UPN Veteran Jawa Timur Mengabdi scheme in Gunung Anyar Subdistrict, Surabaya. The primary objective was to enhance adolescents’ capacity to prevent sexual violence and bullying, while simultaneously strengthening their mental health literacy. The program employed a participatory psychoeducational approach, incorporating interactive lectures, group discussions, role-play simulations, and training on the use of the Circle of 6 digital application as a preventive tool. A total of 15 adolescents from the local Karang Taruna youth organization participated in a training session held on June 12, 2025, followed by mentoring sessions on August 6 and 14, 2025. Evaluation using pre- and post-test instruments indicated a 71% improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills, particularly in recognizing the forms and impacts of sexual violence and bullying, developing assertive communication, and building readiness to act as bystanders in high-risk situations. The use of the Circle of 6 application was proven effective in enhancing digital literacy and emergency preparedness among participants. Furthermore, the psychoeducational approach significantly increased participants’ awareness of stress, anxiety, and depression symptoms and encouraged a willingness to seek professional help. The novelty of this program lies in the integration of psychoeducational methods, digital technology, and community participation, which collectively empower adolescents to become agents of change within their social environment. Despite challenges such as limited training duration and varying levels of participant engagement, the program demonstrated strong potential for replication and scalability through cross-sector collaboration. Overall, this initiative contributes to the development of community-based intervention models grounded in science and technology (IPTEKS) to support efforts in preventing violence and promoting adolescent mental health in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between digitalization, auditor competence, and auditor independence in shaping audit quality within the context of remote auditing by employing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on secondary data from published journal articles. A total of 20 peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2020 and 2025 were retrieved from Scopus, ScienceDirect, Emerald Insight, Google Scholar, and Sinta, selected through the PRISMA protocol, and analyzed using descriptive methods and thematic synthesis with the support of VOSviewer and Microsoft Excel. The findings indicate that digitalization of audits, encompassing big data analytics, artificial intelligence, cloud-based systems, and automated audit tools, serves as a major driver of improved audit efficiency and effectiveness. However, the successful implementation of digital audit technologies relies heavily on auditors' digital competence, including their ability to operate technological tools and conduct data-driven analysis. Furthermore, auditor independence remains a fundamental determinant of audit objectivity, particularly in the context of increased digital interaction and the growing reliance on remote auditing practices. Overall, the results confirm that the simultaneous interaction between technological adoption, professional competence, and auditor independence shapes audit quality in the digital era. This review presents key implications for auditors, audit firms, and regulators on how to enhance digital capabilities while maintaining professional integrity in technology-enabled audit environments.

Abstract

The songs by Dewa 19, especially “Satu” and “Kangen”, are very attached to their fans from various circles, especially the millennial generation and gen Z. This research aims 1. to find out the diction used in the lyrics of the two songs, as well as 2. to analyze the meaning and 3. relevance of these songs among the younger generation. This research uses descriptive qualitative method by collecting data from sources such as observation of song lyrics on YouTube, journals, and indirect interviews through Google Form. The conclusion of this research is that both songs, “Satu” and “Kangen” have straightforward and emotional diction. In “Satu”, the words create a sense of spirituality and unity, while in “Kangen”, the diction expresses longing and nostalgia. The use of metaphors and hyperbole in the lyrics also enriches the meaning of the songs. The song “Satu” has a connotative meaning while “Kangen” has both lexical and connotative meanings, focusing on unity and the emotion of being separated from a loved one. The reason these songs are popular among the younger generation in East Java is because they are often played in public places such as cafes and coffee shops, and because they are played by their family members. There are also those who say that Dewa 19's songs have immortality.
