Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between digitalization, auditor competence, and auditor independence in shaping audit quality within the context of remote auditing by employing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on secondary data from published journal articles. A total of 20 peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2020 and 2025 were retrieved from Scopus, ScienceDirect, Emerald Insight, Google Scholar, and Sinta, selected through the PRISMA protocol, and analyzed using descriptive methods and thematic synthesis with the support of VOSviewer and Microsoft Excel. The findings indicate that digitalization of audits, encompassing big data analytics, artificial intelligence, cloud-based systems, and automated audit tools, serves as a major driver of improved audit efficiency and effectiveness. However, the successful implementation of digital audit technologies relies heavily on auditors' digital competence, including their ability to operate technological tools and conduct data-driven analysis. Furthermore, auditor independence remains a fundamental determinant of audit objectivity, particularly in the context of increased digital interaction and the growing reliance on remote auditing practices. Overall, the results confirm that the simultaneous interaction between technological adoption, professional competence, and auditor independence shapes audit quality in the digital era. This review presents key implications for auditors, audit firms, and regulators on how to enhance digital capabilities while maintaining professional integrity in technology-enabled audit environments.

Abstract

The songs by Dewa 19, especially “Satu” and “Kangen”, are very attached to their fans from various circles, especially the millennial generation and gen Z. This research aims 1. to find out the diction used in the lyrics of the two songs, as well as 2. to analyze the meaning and 3. relevance of these songs among the younger generation. This research uses descriptive qualitative method by collecting data from sources such as observation of song lyrics on YouTube, journals, and indirect interviews through Google Form. The conclusion of this research is that both songs, “Satu” and “Kangen” have straightforward and emotional diction. In “Satu”, the words create a sense of spirituality and unity, while in “Kangen”, the diction expresses longing and nostalgia. The use of metaphors and hyperbole in the lyrics also enriches the meaning of the songs. The song “Satu” has a connotative meaning while “Kangen” has both lexical and connotative meanings, focusing on unity and the emotion of being separated from a loved one. The reason these songs are popular among the younger generation in East Java is because they are often played in public places such as cafes and coffee shops, and because they are played by their family members. There are also those who say that Dewa 19's songs have immortality.

Abstract

The primary purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between auditor independence and audit quality in developing economies by systematically reviewing 24 publications published between 2014 and 2025 from the Scopus database, following PRISMA guidelines. The study also used bibliometric analysis to provide a base for quantitative analysis from selected papers using VOSviewer and Biblioshiny (RStudio). The study employed various theories to examine the link between auditor independence and audit quality, elucidating how incentives, institutions, and stakeholders shape auditor conduct. These theories include agency theory, institutional theory, and stakeholder theory. Additionally, the study examines empirical evidence on the relationship between independence and quality in developing economies. It creates a conceptual framework that links this relationship through several moderating and mediating factors, including audit fees, non-audit services (NAS), tenure, regulations, and political connections. Findings of this study reveal that independence significantly influences audit quality, but its effectiveness depends heavily on vigorous regulatory enforcement, ethical commitment, and institutional support. The study has several limitations, including reliance on secondary data, publication bias, and the majority of the reviewed studies employing quantitative approaches, which have restricted our knowledge of the behavioral and ethical aspects of independence. It has been recommended that future researchers adopt mixed-methods approaches, conduct cross-sectional studies, and, most importantly, research trending topics such as digital audit technologies and ESG assurance in relation to data analytics, which are generating new threats to independence that are not covered by known frameworks.

Abstract

This research focuses on how discourse in newspaper reporting during the 1946 independence period was constructed and interpreted. Specifically, this research problem is directed to examine how the macro structure or theme raised in the news text, how the superstructure or news arrangement scheme was built, as well as the micro structure which includes Semantics, Syntax, Stylistics, and Rhetoric used in conveying information. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with the Critical Discourse Analysis (AWK) method model of Teun A. Van Dijk. Overall, these three structures complement each other in forming a discourse that not only represents reality, but also builds and influences social reality, especially in instilling the ideology of nationalism during the independence struggle.

Abstract

The importance of language use in delivering public information through government digital media motivates this study. In practice, there are still instances of ineffective language use that may affect public understanding of the information presented. This study aims to analyze the use of language in government social media, news editing, and the management of public information documents (DIP). The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collected through observation and documentation of social media captions, news texts before and after editing, and DIP. The results indicate that language used in social media tends to be communicative and concise, while in news and DIP it is more formal and administrative. The news editing process improves clarity and sentence effectiveness. In addition, the presentation of data in the form of bar charts helps simplify information, although clear language use is still required. Overall, the use of language in delivering public information is quite effective, but improvements are still needed in terms of clarity, effectiveness, and consistency of terms.

Abstract

This study explores the strategic role of the Language Desk (Desk Bahasa) within Tempo’s newsroom as an instrument of both hegemony and counter-hegemony. The central problem addressed is the inherent tension between journalists' individual writing styles and institutional standards, alongside the tendency of contemporary mass media to succumb to bureaucratic euphemisms and ambiguous political language. This research aims to deconstruct how the Language Desk's linguistic interventions function to maintain the integrity of critical journalism and the institution's linguistic sovereignty. Utilizing a qualitative methodology, the study applies Norman Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) integrated with M.A.K. Halliday’s Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL). Primary data were gathered through a comparative text analysis of raw news drafts and finalized edited manuscripts across three distinct categories: socio-religious affairs, human-interest events, and law/corruption. The findings reveal that the Language Desk acts as an "ideological gatekeeper," exercising internal hegemony through the absolute enforcement of the institutional stylebook to eliminate redundancy and terminological inconsistencies. Simultaneously, these practices serve as a form of counter-hegemony against external narratives by rejecting euphemisms and "demystifying" elitist official state texts. Through grammatical efficiency and decisive diction, Tempo honestly reconstructs reality while positioning language as a political manifesto to safeguard public common sense. The study concludes that Tempo’s strength lies not only in its reporting but in a linguistic discipline that refuses to submit to the language of power.

Abstract

This study examines changes in the spelling of street names in the city of Surabaya from the past to the present. Street names not only serve as locational markers but also reflect historical, social, and linguistik developments within the community. The purpose of this study is to identify the patterns of spelling changes in street names in Surabaya and to analyze these changes through a diachronic linguistik approach. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing the book *Soerabaia Tempoe Doeloe: Buku 2* by Dukut Imam Widodo as its primary data source, specifically the sections discussing street names in Surabaya during the colonial era. The data collected comprised 15 street names written using the Van Ophuijsen spelling system. The results indicate that the most prevalent spelling changes were the substitution of “oe” with “u,” “tj” with “c,” “dj” with “j,” and “nj” with “ny.” These changes reflect a process of simplification and adaptation from the old spelling system to modern Indonesian spelling, while preserving the historical identity and value of the street names.
