Abstract

Before Covid-19 happened, the tourism industry had been faced overtourism problems as the effect of mass tourism growth. Tourism environment quality reduction and the social problem happened to the local people become a problem behind all glitters of tourism growth. Since the Covid-19 outbreak, the overtourism problem changes into nontourism. The spread of Covid-19 in tourism can change the tourism development’s paradigm from the visit quantity to the visit quality. Policy about the limitation on the number of visitors applied as the requirement for reopening the tourism sector. This policy is related to the tourism carrying capacity about the maximum amount contained in one tourism area without causing any damages to the environment. This visitor’s limitation indirectly solved two problems at once, concerns about the spread of Covid-19 and overtourism repeats. The research was done in Pulau Merah Beach as the destination with the highest visitors in Banyuwangi regency, which has 574 visitors each day and did the tourism opening simulation in a new normal era with visitors’ limitation. The tourism manager has determined that 750 people are the maximum number of visitors per day. This research aimed to evaluate the consistency of the number of maximum visitors with Covid-19 policy about visitors limitation using the tourism carrying capacity concept Mix methods were used in this study to deepen data and analysis. Thus, complete and clearer research was gained. Based on the analysis, the physical carrying capacity value of 1.074 people per day, the real carrying capacity value, and effectiveness of 468 people per day. It means the limitation of visitors in new normal tourism in Red Island is safe and by the Covid-19 protocol because it decreased about 30% from the tourism physical carrying capacity. However, if it was evaluated from the real carrying capacity value and effectiveness, those amounts are still exceeding the capacity of the tourism carrying capacity.Keywords: New Normal, Tourism Carrying Capacity, Visitors Limitation.

Abstract

Ethnic food is a form of community participation in the process of using plants, animals, or other biological resources that have local wisdom values. Ethnic food can be explored further to reach the environmental and cultural conservation value based on community perspective, because the cuisine is always served from generation to generation continuously. It is also a tourism potential and base for culinary tourism development. This study aimed to analyze the community perspectives of Banjarese Cuisine and also gives recommendations for tourism products based on local resources. This study interviewed 74 respondents in Kuin Village from September 2019 to January 2020 using questionnaires. Respondents are local people who live in the area along the Kuin River, Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. Information for tourism potential is about tourism and culinary conditions, community perspectives, literature studies, and other local wisdom information. The highest score is 4.47 about teaching Banjar cooking recipes in Kuin Village to others as an important effort by the Banjarese people. It reflects that public awareness of teaching recipes is still high. The lowest point of 2.36 reflects the existence of a floating market did not help much with the availability of various raw materials for Banjarese cuisine because usually, people buy raw materials in Banjarmasin traditional markets, especially the spices market.Keywords: Banjarmasin, Community Responses, Culinary Tourism, Ethnic food.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe the variety of medicinal plants, the ingredients of medicinal plants, and its utilization in Gapura District, Madura Regency. This study was conducted on June – October 2021. This study methodology was started by collecting the data, observation, and documentation. This study consisted of 60 respondents aged over 35 years because they are more experienced in making traditional medicines. The analysis of data used UVS, FUVS, ICS, and SWOT. This study found that 37 of 30 families of medicinal plants were utilized by Gapura societies. Based on the results of FUVs (Family Use Value), the families that are often used by the people of Gapura District are Zingiberaceae with a percentage of 1.75%, and the Moringaceae family with a percentage of 0.5%. The commonly utilized plant organ is the rhizome which is processed using a grater. The strategy for conserving the diversity of medicinal plants in Gapura District is wild and cultivated. Wild plants are usually only considered pests by the local community, but some wild plants have very good potential to be used as traditional medicines. Cultivated plants are a way of processing medicinal plants with the aim of bringing maximum results with good quality. Furthermore, Gapura District made the farmers' community conserve the medicinal plants through biological conservation.

Abstract

Integrated Pest Management Field School (IPM-FS) is an extension method that is still being applied in Indonesia. IPM-FS is considered still relevant to be applied in Indonesia. However, farmers still have obstacles that cause farmers so that to not fully apply the knowledge obtained from the Integrated Pest Control Field School. This research was conducted in Panditan Village, Lumbang District, Pasuruan. The method used is descriptive qualitative with the Process Tracing approach. Collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that farmers benefited from the Integrated Pest Management Field School (IPM-FS), namely increasing farmer knowledge, changing farmer perceptions and behavior, and increasing coffee productivity. Constraints experienced by farmers are related to technology in the harvest process, causing farmers to still pick coffee as a whole without considering the color of the coffee beans between red, green, and yellow. The absence of a specific price difference between coffee with the implementation of IPM and non-IPM is also the background for farmers to pick coffee indiscriminately.

Abstract

Pack Test is a series of products of Kyoritsu Chemical-Check Laboratory Cooperation, Japan. It is easy-to-use, anybody can use at anywhere, low cost, nontoxic, safe, and professional-use, onetime use ion-selective color metric water quality checker. The aim of this research is to assess, then next, discuss the significance of applications of this tool. In this order, NH4-Pack Test was selected as an example for the discussions; although there are more than 60 parameters can be detected by pack test such as, COD, Cl-, NO3-, phosphate, hardness, pH, heavy metals, etc.. As for field survey, Ion chromatography was used to measure ammonium concentration of river water in Jakarta. Then detection range of the NH4-Pack Test was compared to the data, and Indonesian and Malaysian national water quality standard. River water quality of Jakarta was weekly degraded at upstream area, but it was seriously degraded at downstream area (up to 5-10 NH4-N mg/L). As for ammonium concentration, obviously the detection range and step of Pack Test was sufficient to assess the ammonium concentrations of rive water in Jakarta. Of course Pack Test is very simplified tool, environmental water quality standard of ammonia for class I in Indonesia and Class I and II in Malaysia were difficult to evaluate. However, it was obviously applicable to check treated effluent and Class III to V water quality of Malaysian environmental standard. Consequently, it is suggested to adopt a double standard policy of water quality monitoring, such as combination of "easy-to-use simplified" and "conventional-accurate". Because of low cost, and professional-convenient design, implementation of Pack Test will significant to empower on-site water quality monitoring in developing country, participative environmental awareness public programs, experience base environmental learning in schools, and other grass-rooted environmental activities.Keywords: Environmental awareness and education, Pack test, Simplified method, Southeastern Asian county

Abstract

Aim of this research was to study vegetation diversity quality in highland forest of Ranu Regulo Lake area in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS), East Java. Field observation was carried out by vegetation analysis using sampling plots of 25x25 m2 for trees, 5x5 m2 for poles, 1x1 m2 for ground surface plants. Community structure of each lake side was determined by calculating vegetation's density, basal area, frequency, important value and stratification of species. While vegetations diversity was estimated by taxa richness, Shannon-Wiener diversity index, and rate of endemism. Each lake side forests were compared by Morisita community similarity index. The result showed that based on existed vegetation, highland forest surrounding Ranu Regulo Lake consisted of four ecosystems, i.e. heterogenic highland forest, pine forest, acacia forest and bushes. Bushes Area has two types of population, edelweiss and Eupatorium odoratum invaded area. Vegetation diversity quality in heterogenic highland forest of Ranu Regulo TNBTS was the highest, indicated by its multi-stratification to B stratum trees of 20-30m high. Heterogenic highland forests formation was Acer laurinum and Acmena accuminatissima for trees, Chyatea for poles. Taxa richness was found 59 species and 30 families, while the others were found below 28 species and 17 families. Diversity Index of heterogenic highland forest is the highest among others for trees is 2.31 and 3.24 for poles and second in bushes (H=3.10) after edelweiss ecosystem (H=3.39). Highest rate of endemism reached 100% for trees in heterogenic highland forest, 87% for poles in edelweiss area and 89% for bushes also in heterogenic highland forest. Trees, poles and herbs most similarity community showed by pine and acacia forest. Based on those five characters, vegetation diversity quality in Ranu Regulo Lake area was medium for heterogenic highland forest and edelweiss area comparing to pine and acacia forest which had very low diversity quality. This low diversity was caused by invading species E. odoratum in density, distribution and dominance for threatening growth of poles and ground surface plants local species. Invaded ecosystem were pine forest, acacia forest and edelweiss area. It hasnt major invading in heterogenic highland forest, but it has reached the edge. Abstract

The conservation of Jamuju Dacrycarpus imbricatus (Blume) de Laub. in Java Island has been considered important. One of the the limitation of such program is related to the viability data on the genetic diversity of species target. The aim of study was to determine genetic variation of D. imbricatus in Bromo Tengger Semeru Park, East Java based on trnL (UAA) intron region. DNA sample was collected from several D. imbricatus seedling population in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (BTSNP) in East Java. DNA was isolated and amplified using PCR. Genetic variation was estimated using trnL (UAA) intron sequences. This study confirm that D. imbricatus in Bromo Tengger Semeru has low genetic diversity. Based on the phylogenetic tree, D. imbricatus population from Bromo Tengger Semeru Park is closely related to D. imbricatus from Sabah-Malaysia and Hainan-China with 100 % similarity value. These data implies that population and habitat management of D. imbricatus in Bromo Tengger Semeru should be designed to enhance the population survival in the future.

Abstract

Meru Betiri National Park (MBNP) is one of the nature conservation area thathas the potential of flora, fauna, and ecosystems that could develop as a nature-based tourism attraction. The existence of certain indicator species was related to estimation of stress level and disturbance on ecosystem stability for making strategic decisions about the restoration in this area. One of the important indicator species at forest ecosystem were soil arthropods. Aim this research were analyzed composition and diversity of soil arthropods at Rajegwesi, MBNP areas. The methods in this research used pitfall trap, measurement of distribution structure and soil arthropods composition based on the Shannon - Wiener index, Morisita similarity index and Importance Value Index (IVI). The number of families and individuals of soil arthropods found in the coastal area of Rajegwesi consists of 10 order with 21 families (702 individual). The number of individuals of the order Hymenoptera, Coleoptera, Collembola and Araneida was more widely found. Soil arthropods diversity index on each land use indicated that soil arthropod diversity in these areas were moderate. Soil arthropod community of orchards and forest had a similarity of species composition, whereas soil arthropod community of savanna had a similarity of species composition with paddy fields.

Abstract

In developed countries, traditional knowledge of indigenous people is being widely threatened by current trends of economic globalization especially in destination tourism area such as Tambakrejo village, Sumbermanjing Wetan, Malang. This region includes Sempu Island as well as proposed protected area. Investigation aims were to know diversity of plants species that arranged home garden, used value of each plant species using ethnobotany indexes, and also to describe their methods of preparation and use of the significant plant. The study represents the first step to documenting significant utilitized of the species plant in home garden based on indigenous knowledge before it disappears. Data were collected by depth and semi structured interviews. Informations were about traditional uses of wild plants also cultivated ones. All the collected data were filled in a analytical table and for easier, data was grouped into ten categories, then continued with detailed of use. Data was calculated by using synthetic indexes, those are Relative Frequency of Citation (RFC) and Cultural Importance Index (CI). One hundred and one plants were cited by the informants as being traditionally used in the area. These 100 ethnospecies belonging to 45 families. From 10 categories, most of them concerning allimentary, medical and economic plants. For the allimentary plants, 316 citation, 58 species and 5 different uses were recorded. While for the medical plants, there were 63 citations, 22 species and 4 different uses categories. A few plants species for others categories like erotion control. The study shows that traditional uses for plants especially at home garden still survives as part of the cultural heritage of the community, economic and also for daily activity. Abstract

Tripneustes gratilla an important ecological role in various habitats because T. gratilla is directly or indirectly recycling key from the nutrients in the waters of Ambon Island. Ambon Island has a distinctive topography, thus causing inhibition of water exchange period naturally in Ambon Bay and feared to complicate the exchange of genes between populations thus causing inbreeding. In addition the increasing environmental pollution can narrow the habitat of Tripneustes gratilla. Therefore, this study aims to determine the spatial distribution and genetic diversity of sea urchins (Tripneustes gratilla) on Ambon island based on cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 gene. Alignment results showed the presence of genetic variation of T. gratilla on the Ambon island. This is shown in several polymorphic base where there has tranversi experience, transition, and insertion. COI gene sequence similarity values of T. gratilla on Ambon island is around 98.4 to 100%. Distribution of T. gratilla population found on Ambon island generally have a relatively small number of individuals. From four locations that just only one location have large enough number of individuals. However, the results of genetic analysis using COI gene showed the presence of genetic closeness between T. gratilla despite located in different locations.
