Abstract

This article discusses the analysis of morphological aspects, particularly word formation, utilized in tourism terminology. The author discovered numerous new terms emerging in the realm of creative tourism, particularly tailored for tourists. This evolution is spurred by the proliferation of diverse forms of tourism, arising from the desire to break free from the monotony of daily routines. The study revealed that these novel terms can be classified into blending and compounding types. These formations are increasingly ingrained in the minds of tourists and the local community, making them commonplace in the lexicon of creative tourism. This linguistic variation is heavily influenced by the evolving demands of tourists. Basically, the new word formations consist of combining two words to signify novel meanings aligned with the requirements of contemporary creative tourism.

Abstract

Kakawin is a traditional literary work that belongs to the sekar agung category, which has characteristics and traits distinct from sekar madya and sekar alit. Kakawin is marked by the presence of guru and laghu in each of its meters. Guru and laghu are the guidelines that must be followed by anyone performing or reading a kakawin literary work. Guru refers to a word or syllable that undergoes a change during its performance. These changes can include elongation, a shift from low to high pitch or vice versa, or a change in emphasis from loud to soft or the opposite. In short, guru is always marked by a change in sound. On the other hand, laghu does not experience a change in sound during its performance. The sounds and their accompanying elements, such as guru and laghu, are studied using phonological theory. Research findings show that there are several forms of characters used to write kakawin as markers of guru and laghu.

Abstract

Balinese language is divided into two dialects, namely Bali Dataran(DBD), and Bali Aga (DBA) dialect. The DBD variation happens vertically, but not in DBA. Some vocabularies in DBD that are classified into low(Tak-Alus/TA) are classified as common variants in DBA. This research aims to explore the Balinese personal pronoun variations in DBD which DBA in Sembiran(DS), and Seraya Timur(DST). The results, by applying the dialectology theory and correlation method or metode padan, showed that the personal pronouns of DS and DST varied lexically and phonologically. Lexically, the personal pronoun of first person singular in DBD /(ti)tiyaŋ/(A), /(i)–caŋ/ and /yaŋ/(TA) was realized as /oke/ and /kaka/ in DS also /(b)–iba/, /uke/, and /wane/ in DST. The second person singular /ragane/(A), /cai/ /ɲai/, and /ibə/(TA) in DBD, were realized as /cai/, /ɲai/, and /ŋko/ in DS also /cai/ and /ɲai/ in DST; and the third person singular /idə/, /dane/(A) and /(i) –yə/(TA) in DBD, were realized as /ya/, in DS and DST. Meanwhile phonologically, the realization of phoneme /a/ at the end of the word in DBD was realized as /ə/, in DS and DST was /a/.

Abstract

Cepuk cloth has been produced since the 1920s in Tanglad Village, Nusa Penida District, Klungkung Regency, Bali and it has a distinctive motif, different from other clothes produced in the other regencies in Bali. This study tries to identify the lexicons related to cepuk cloth found in the previous research since there have been several research reports on cepuk cloth from 1925. Besides, it also aims to describe the relation between the lexicon and its culture. The data were taken from the previous research concerning cepuk cloth, and they were collected through the observation and documentation methods. The collected data were analyzed qualitatively and the analysis is presented using both formal and informal methods. The results show that there are 66 lexicons related to cepuk cloth categorized into eight, namely characteristic, use, type, motif/pattern, ideology, natural coloring resource, concept of color, and traditional weaving machine. Most of the lexicons are related to flora. There are five categories i.e. cepuk characteristics, uses, motif/pattern, ideology, and color concept that are closely related to Balinese Hindu culture. The lexicons related to culture show the symbolic ecology that investigates the coexistence of languages as symbol systems in Nusa Penida, and the sociocultural ecology that sees language as its part where it then shapes societies and cultures.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of existential presupposition in the comment section of the Instagram account @jakarta.keras on a post concerning the corruption case of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga dated February 25, 2025. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach from a pragmatic perspective. The data consist of utterances in the comment section that contain assumptions regarding the existence of particular entities. Data were collected using the observational method with the non-participatory observation technique, while data analysis was conducted using the pragmatic equivalent method through the Determining Element Sorting (Pilah Unsur Penentu/PUP) technique. The results indicate that existential presuppositions appear in various forms, which are classified into four categories: individual-based, group-based, social status–based, and ownership-relation–based existential presuppositions. These presuppositions are constructed through the use of definite noun phrases, proper names, plural forms, social status markers, and possessive markers. The findings demonstrate that Instagram comment sections function not only as a medium for expressing opinions but also as a space for constructing assumptions about the existence, identity, and social relations of actors involved in an event.
