Abstract

This study investigates the integration of Islamic values into the economic roles of women by focusing on Muslim women motorcycle taxi drivers (Ojek Syariah Muslimah or OJESY) in Indonesia. The objective is to examine the contribution of OJESY drivers’ income to household economies and the meanings associated with their work within an Islamic value framework. Using a phenomenological approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed narratively to explore drivers’ motivations, income management strategies, and the balance between domestic and public roles. The findings indicate that OJESY drivers make significant contributions to household welfare by financing children’s education, increasing savings, and improving household assets. Participants perceive their work as morally safe and sharia-compliant, which fosters a sense of tranquility and strengthens social legitimacy. Despite these benefits, challenges remain, including income instability, the dual burden of work and family responsibilities, and limited access to social protection. The study recommends enhancing community-based support, expanding sharia-compliant entrepreneurial training, and integrating social protection mechanisms for informal workers on digital platforms. By framing OJESY within the context of maqasid al-sharia, particularly in preserving family welfare, the study contributes to the discourse on gender-inclusive Islamic economics and proposes policy innovations for sustainable and inclusive economic empowerment.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a comprehensive description of the market mechanism concept in Ibn Taimiyah’s Islamic economic thought, examine the role of the state and the hisbah institution in maintaining market justice, and explore the relevance of his ideas to contemporary economic issues and their implications for the development of modern Islamic economics. This research employs a qualitative approach using the library research method, analyzing relevant primary and secondary sources. The findings reveal that Ibn Taimiyah had a profound understanding of market mechanisms, in which prices are naturally determined through the interaction of supply and demand without excessive intervention. The state, through the hisbah institution, plays a crucial role in preserving market stability and justice by enforcing business ethics and preventing harmful practices. Government intervention is justified only when market distortions lead to injustice. Ibn Taimiyah’s economic thought remains highly relevant to contemporary issues such as monopoly, inflation, wealth inequality, and the crisis of business ethics. Thus, his ideas offer a conceptual foundation for building an Islamic economic system that is just, ethical, and sustainable.

Abstract

The goal of this research is to learn more about the institutionalization of the Islamic economy in Indonesia, which is a fair economic system that works to preserve social and political life within bounds that don't jeopardize the general welfare. This study employs a method known as a literature review or literature study. The findings of this study show that external factors, such as the establishment of Islamic banks in other nations, trade missions, and preaching that facilitate the implementation of the Islamic economic system, have played a significant role in the history of Islamic economic thought and institutionalization in Indonesia. The internal aspect is public awareness, namely Muslim intellectuals' efforts to adopt an Islamic-based economic system among Indonesia's mostly Muslim population. With several laws controlling Islamic contracts and goods, institutionalization, and systems run by Islamic banks in Indonesia, the Islamic economy has up until now continued to grow. The growth of Islamic economic institutions, however, still falls short of Islamic financial literacy, where knowledge of Islamic economics is still quite poor.

Abstract

This study is entitled "Islamic Economic Analysis of Consumptive Behavior of Students of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business Uin Alauddin Makassar." The data source used is primary data, namely information that comes from direct observation at the research location after conducting observations and interviews. Meanwhile, secondary sources are data obtained from documentation or literature studies to complement primary data. Data collection was carried out by field research through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that generally, students are more likely to behave consumptively than those who do not based on the three forms of consumptive behavior, namely in terms of food, shopping for "fashion" appearances, and ways to fill free time such as shopping malls, and others. The review of Islamic Economics has not been properly implemented by students, as from the data obtained that some student expenses are greater than reporting, students often buy food and then don't finish it or buy things that are not really needed, this kind of thing is classified as a waste which is prohibited in Islam. Therefore it takes awareness from everyone, especially students to apply consumption behavior that has been taught in Islam. Keywords : consumptive economy.

Abstract

This study analyzes the development of Cross-Border Tourism in the Indonesia-Malaysia border region in Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan, in the perspective of Islamic Economics. The study focuses on the development patterns, opportunities, and challenges faced in the management of cross-border tourism. This research is descriptive qualitative with normative, conceptual, and comparative approaches, involving an analysis of the provisions of the Qur'an, Hadith, tourism theory, as well as a comparison of Cross-Border Tourism models. The results show that the development of cross-border tourism in Sambas Regency has significant potential in increasing tourist attraction and strengthening cross-border economic relations. The implementation of sharia principles, such as the provision of a Muslim-friendly environment, adequate access to worship, halal products, and sharia-based services, is an important factor in optimizing this potential. Despite the great opportunities, the main challenges include sub-optimal infrastructure, cross-border regulations, and synergy between stakeholders. Therefore, a sharia-based development strategy is needed to create sustainable and competitive tourism, while supporting inclusive regional economic development.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the potential of the fisheries sector in Sambas Regency using the Location Quotient (LQ) and Shift-Share approaches, as well as to formulate management strategies to encourage economic growth in the Indonesia-Malaysia border region. With a qualitative approach, this research integrates normative-theological, sociological, and scientific analyses, using data from the 2015-2019 period collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using LQ, Shift-Share, and SWOT. The research results show that the fisheries sector is a leading sector with an average LQ value of 2.75, reflecting its ability to meet local and export needs, while the Shift-Share analysis reveals the competitive advantage of this sector in regional economic growth. This research produces strategic recommendations including the improvement of facilities and infrastructure, technology adoption, human resource development, and institutional strengthening. This result is expected to serve as a reference for local governments in formulating policies to optimize the fisheries sector as a driving force for the border economy. This study recommends improving fisheries facilities and infrastructure, adopting modern technology, and strengthening institutions and regulations to improve the competitiveness of the fisheries sector in Sambas Regency. In addition, human resource development through training and diversification of fisheries businesses needs to be done to improve the welfare of fishermen. Optimizing the trade and export of fishery products is also the main strategy in encouraging economic growth in the Indonesia-Malaysia border region.
