Abstract

Scientific reasoning is a fundamental ability that students need to develop to face the challenges of the 21st century. This ability plays an important role in understanding science concepts, solving problems, and linking knowledge with everyday life through a systematic scientific process. However, science learning in schools has not had a significant impact on improving these abilities. A number of studies have shown that students' scientific reasoning in Indonesia is still low, hindering a deep understanding of science concepts and their application in real contexts. This condition requires innovative teaching materials that can facilitate students' active involvement, one of which is through multirepresentation-based e-modules. This research aims to develop multirepresentation-based e-modules and assess their effectiveness in improving the scientific reasoning skills of junior high school students. The research method used is Research and Development (R\&D) with the ADDIE model. The research subjects were students of class VII F SMP Negeri 7 Jember. The research instruments were pretest and posttest tests to measure scientific reasoning ability. The results showed that the use of multirepresentation-based e-modules was effective in improving students' scientific reasoning skills, indicated by the N-Gain value which was in the high category. Thus, multirepresentation-based e-modules are feasible to use as innovative teaching materials in learning temperature, heat, and expansion.

Abstract

The availability of teaching materials, especially student worksheet used by teachers at MA Fatihul Ulum Jember, has limitations that trigger misunderstanding of materials and concepts. Training activities aim to improve the professional competence of teachers including: RPA-based student worksheet as an alternative learning choice used to increase students' interest in self-directed learning. The training was attended by 38 Subject Teachers, with the approach used during the process of implementing this training, namely the process approach. The training process involved the following stages: the formation of a team; the formulation of goals; the identification of stakeholders; the collection and analysis of needs; the prioritisation of problems; preparation; implementation; mentoring; review; and evaluation. The training increased teachers' professional competence in the development of RPA-based student worksheet, including characteristics, components, strategies and preparation. Therefore, it is expected that teachers will be more trained and competent in developing student worksheet integrated with real picture to improve students' higher-order thinking.

Abstract

Female students of the millennial generation are required to have the ability to recognize and assess opportunities that are relevant to current developments. Business management is a series of activities, practices, and decisions carried out to plan, organize, direct, and control resources and activities in a business or organization to achieve predetermined goals. The purpose of this community service is to train female students on the management of the Millennial Santri Business Studio, especially involving packaging, branding, and sales of processed dragon fruit products as the identity of the Islamic Boarding School's superior products, and expanding offline sales access at bazaars and online on social media. The target of the community service program is 38 female students of Tanwirut Thullab Islamic Boarding School. The method used is the approach of the Millennial Santri Business Studio management training activities used, namely Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA). The results of the training show that female students have succeeded in implementing safe and attractive packaging steps for processed dragon fruit products. Products are now packaged using containers that are much safer, cleaner, have a more professional visual appearance, and are effectively protected from contamination. In addition, the brand identity "Dapur Santri" as the identity of the superior dragon fruit products of the Islamic Boarding School. Female students expanding their offline sales channels through bazaars and online through social media have significant potential to strengthen business relationships with customers, which can improve profits, marketing and communication strategies, cost efficiency, and effectiveness. The success of this training fostered an entrepreneurial spirit and motivation among the female students. This has resulted in the emergence of a culture of creativity, innovation, and the courage to compete.

Abstract

The particular study examined the impact of science boost camp interventions, utilizing the activity theory and TPACK (AT-TPACK) framework, on the achievements of sixty-eight Year 11 combined science students following the new Cambridge 5129 syllabus, including Paper 3 components, in Muara, Brunei. These students, learning combined science in English as their second language for three years, scored below 60% in their SPE Year 8 science exams, placing them in the Applied Secondary Education Programme (one class of 20 students) and the Special Applied Program (three classes of 48 students). The study used a pre-test-post-test and delayed post-test experimental design to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed three-phase AT-TPACK model. The primary goal was to enhance students' combined science achievement and reduce the number of students receiving ungraded (below 30%) grades in the GCE O-Level examinations. After the mock exams, the sixty-eight students were randomly assigned to fourteen intervention groups based on their academic performance. Each group, led by a higher achiever (HA) student, participated in science interventions. This study examines the impact of science boost camp interventions, utilizing the activity theory and TPACK (AT-TPACK) framework, on the achievements of sixty-eight Year 11 combined science students following the new Cambridge 5129 syllabus, including Paper 3 components, in Muara, Brunei. The students were selected through purposive sampling, involving 20 students from Year 11A (General Applied Program) and 48 from Year 11B to 11C2 (Special Applied Program). These students, learning combined science in English as their second language for three years, scored below 60% in their SPE Year 8 science exams, placing them in the Applied Secondary Education Programme. The aspects measured in this study included students' motivation, conceptual understanding, and collaborative learning performance. The results revealed significant improvement in achievement scores postintervention and a reduction in ungraded grades, with thematic analysis indicating sustained retention of scientific concepts even after the 20-week intervention period. Students' GCE O-level exam performance improved, with the school achieving its 2023 target for combined science, increasing from 19% to 35%, placing the school in the second-highest rank in the country. These findings highlight the potential of targeted interventions to address challenges in combined science education, offering insights for educators seeking to enhance student outcomes in similar contexts.

Abstract

The capacity to engage in scientific thinking represents a significant challenge in the junior high school science curriculum, particularly with regard to comprehending concepts in a profound and systematic manner. The objective of this research is to develop and evaluate the feasibility of multi-representation-based student worksheets in enhancing students' scientific reasoning abilities. The research subjects consist of 120 junior high school students spread across the former Besuki region, including the Jember, Banyuwangi, Bondowoso, and Situbondo districts. The research was conducted employing the Research and Development technique via the 4-D model. This approach entailed the following: expert validation, implementation observations, effectiveness testing through pre-test and post-test tests, and student response questionnaires. The results demonstrated that the developed student worksheets exhibited a validity level of 83.7% (high) and a practicality of 78.5% (good), and effectiveness was demonstrated by an increase in the N-gain value of 0.57 (moderate) and a positive student response of 81.28%. Consequently, the utilization of multi-representation-based student worksheets has been demonstrated to enhance the learning of students. This finding underscores the value of adopting such material on a broader scale within the context of science education. It is recommended that future research be conducted at different grade levels and with a more diverse array of materials.

Abstract

Studi yang dilakukan bertujuan untuk mengembangkan serta menguji validitas, kepraktisan, serta efektivitas LKPD berbasis argumentation skill dalam peningkatan kemampuan argumentasi peserta didik Sekolah Menengah Pertama untuk kegiatan belajar IPA dalam materi suhu, kalor, dan pemuaian. Metode yang digunakan adalah model pengembangan ADDIE mencakup Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate. Hasil validasi tiga validator memperlihatkan LKPD  merupakan kategori sangat valid dengan rata-rata skor 87%. Kepraktisan LKPD berdasarkan analisis keterlaksanaan pembelajaran memperoleh rata-rata skor 88,25%, tergolong sangat praktis. Efektivitas LKPD diuji melalui tes pre-test serta post-test, menghasilkan skor N-gain sebesar 0,77 berada di kategori tinggi. Selain itu, angket respons siswa menunjukkan rerata 90% yang memiliki kategori sangat baik. Menurut data tersebut, LKPD berbasis argumentation skill termasuk valid, praktis, serta efektif untuk digunakan untuk peningkatan keterampilan argumentasi peserta didik pada pembelajaran IPA di jenjang SMP.The study aims to develop and test the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of argumentation skill-based LKPD in improving the argumentation skills of Junior High School students for science learning activities in the material of temperature, heat, and expansion. The method used is the ADDIE development model including Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate. The validation results of three validators show that LKPD is in a very valid category with an average score of 87%. The practicality of LKPD based on the analysis of learning implementation obtained an average score of 88.25%, which is classified as very practical. The effectiveness of LKPD was tested through pre-test and post-test tests, resulting in an N-gain score of 0.77 in the high category. In addition, the student response questionnaire showed an average of 90% which has a very good category. According to these data, LKPD based on argumentation skill is valid, practical, and effective for use to improve students' argumentation skills in science learning at the junior high school level.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop valid, practical, and effective outdoor learning-based worksheets to improve critical thinking skills of junior high school students. This study is a type of research and development, which in its implementation uses the ADDIE stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The results of the validation of the worksheets product showed an average validation result of 99 with a very valid category. This means that this outdoor learning-based worksheets is feasible to be applied in learning activities. The results of the practicality test through the learning implementation questionnaire showed an average observation result of 91.37 which shows that the outdoor learning-based worksheets is practical to be applied in learning activities. The effectiveness of the outdoor learning-based worksheets as seen based on the N-Gain value is in the high category (very effective) with an N-Gain score > 0.7. This means that the outdoor learning-based worksheets is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills.

This aims to evaluate the shortcomings and advantages to become findings in future research. Method: This research was conducted using bibliometric analysis and systematic review methods. The use of these two methods is carried out in order to obtain in-depth analysis through qualitative and quantitative data. Results: Based on the research that has been conducted, it is known that the trend of physics learning research with a differentiation approach through problem-solving strategies in educational articles over the past 10 years has continued to increase every year. Novelty: In accordance with the findings of the bibliometric analysis, it was obtained that one of the experience-based learning that can be integrated with the differentiation approach is the PBL (Problem Based Learning) learning model. It is recommended for future researchers to integrate PBL learning in physics with a differentiation approach as a strategy to improve problem-solving skills according to the global trend in adapting innovative learning through interactive methods.

Abstract

This study investigated the effect of a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Monopoly media on IPAS learning outcomes and critical thinking skills among fourth-grade elementary school students. The study responds to the persistent challenge of low learning achievement and limited critical thinking resulting from teacher-centered instructional practices. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of PBL with Monopoly-based educational media to create a contextual and engaging learning environment in IPAS instruction. A quantitative approach with a posttest-only control group experimental design was employed. The study was conducted during the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic year at SDN 2 Alasmalang and SDN 1 Benelan Kidul, Banyuwangi Regency. The sample consisted of 47 fourth-grade students, including 24 students in the experimental group and 23 students in the control group. The experimental group received PBL instruction supported by Monopoly media, while the control group received conventional instruction. Data were collected through tests, observation, and documentation. Learning outcomes were measured using multiple-choice tests, whereas critical thinking skills were assessed through essay tests covering interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation. Data were analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests followed by independent-samples t-tests. The findings revealed that the PBL model assisted by Monopoly media significantly improved IPAS learning outcomes (p = 0.006) and critical thinking skills (p = 0.009). These results suggest that integrating PBL with Monopoly media is an effective instructional strategy for promoting meaningful learning and enhancing higher-order thinking skills in elementary IPAS education.
