Abstract

Surface tension is a critical physical property in various applications, yet the understanding of temperature effects on surface tension remains limited. This study aims to investigate the influence of temperature on the surface tension of water through laboratory experiments. The method includes measuring surface tension in hot and cold water using simple equipment. The results show significant variation in surface tension, with hot water exhibiting higher surface tension compared to cold water under certain conditions. These findings contradict the theory that increasing temperature should reduce surface tension. Factors such as measurement errors and water contamination likely affected the results. This study highlights the importance of developing stricter methodologies for surface tension measurements and provides essential insights for practical and educational applications.

Abstract

In this research, researchers analyzed the increase in spring length in relation to the changing load or mass of the object (variations in the mass of the object) using Phet Simulation or a virtual laboratory which can be used on the website platform. The aim of this research was carried out using the Phet Simulation virtual laboratory, to determine the relationship between length and mass of objects in spring experiments to enable more effective and efficient use of tools and materials and by using this virtual laboratory it can make it easier for teachers and participants to carry out practicums remotely. distant and independent. The method used in research in this virtual laboratory is experimentation and using a quantitative approach. The results of the graphic analysis obtained show that the relationship between force and increase in spring length is linear or directly proportional, which means that the increase in spring length (x) is proportional to the force applied (F). This means that the greater the force applied, the longer the spring will stretch, which is in accordance with Hooke's Law theory.

Abstract

Physics explores natural phenomena ranging from everyday experiences to abstract concepts, with vectors being a fundamental component essential for analyzing motion and other physical occurrences. Vectors, defined by their magnitude and direction, are key to describing various phenomena such as force, speed, and acceleration. Utilizing virtual laboratories like PhET offers an excellent opportunity to enhance understanding of vector concepts through interactive simulations. This research focuses on the application of 2D vectors using the PhET virtual laboratory. The research methods include quantitative experiments, where participants engage with vector simulations in a virtual environment. The results indicate that variations in the angle and magnitude of vectors significantly impact the resultant vector's value. These interactive simulations allow for real-time visualization and manipulation of parameters, leading to a deeper comprehension of the subject. Despite some limitations, including the necessity for technological access and the potential for oversimplifying physical phenomena, the benefits of these simulations make them invaluable tools for teaching and research in vector studies. Overall, PhET simulations accelerate the learning process, providing students with a richer and more practical experience to better grasp vector concepts.

Abstract

Practicum is an essential component of science education, particularly in fostering 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of two laboratory practicum models, namely cookbook and inquiry, in enhancing these skills. A literature review approach was employed, analyzing 11 journals and 3 textbooks. The results show that cookbook practicum is more effective in improving critical thinking (n-gain = 0.72) and problem-solving skills (n-gain = 0.68) due to its structured and systematic approach. Conversely, inquiry practicum excels in enhancing collaboration (n-gain = 0.78) and communication skills (n-gain = 0.76) as it emphasizes independent exploration and teamwork. The combination of both models provides a more holistic improvement, with an average n-gain of 0.65 across all skills. Abstract

Social forestry (SF) is Indonesian policy that aims to provide legal access to the community in utilizing forest resources and seek sustainable forest management, contributing to the community's economic improvement. This study examines the action situation of implementing SF policies in Central Sulawesi Province and analyses the roles of stakeholders and exogenous variables determining SF policies' outcomes. The Institutional Analysis Development (IAD) framework was applied in the study by identifying and analyzing the action situation and its relation to the implementation of SF in Central Sulawesi. The research revealed that the implementation of social forestry in Central Sulawesi Province is not optimal. This is indicated by the fact that local institutions have not achieved self-governance, the sustainability of forest function has not been realized, and the social forestry programs have not significantly increased the income of the local community.. Implementing the SF policy depends on the facilitator's capacity at the site level and stakeholders' support. The action for strengthening social forestry at site levels requires strong collaboration among stakeholders by considering their interests and capacities. These findings suggested the urgency of future research to examine strategies for governing the role of stakeholders in boosting local institutional capacity and the outcomes of SF policies.
