Abstract

Learning in the environmental physics course is directed at sharpening students' sensitivity to overcoming problems and utilizing the potential that exists in the environment. Waste management is the main focus in environmental physics learning, which in this research is pineapple crown leaf waste which has the potential as activated carbon to be processed into resistors. The purpose of this study was to test the activator and carbonization tool for pineapple crown leaves with the highest inhibition value. This activator is in the form of Wuluh star fruit and Calamansi. The carbonization tools are an infrared stove and a blue flame twister furnace. This research method is in the form of an experiment. This activity research is integrated with the STEAM-2C components. The data analysis technique is in the form of comparing the average resistance values ​​of the pineapple leaf resistor variations. It was found that = 0.067 MΩ; = 0.16 MΩ; = 0.12 MΩ; = 0.14 MΩ. It was concluded that the activator and carbonization tool for pineapple crown leaf with the highest inhibition values ​​were the Calamansi activator and Infrared stove carbonization tool. This research is expected to add insight into producing innovations that are tested experimentally as the implementation of environmental physics learning.

Abstract

Turmeric is used by cultural communities to treat nasal congestion in infants with different methods, curcumin in turmeric is scars on the skin, and innovation in turmeric is needed. This study aims to compare the temperature and water evaporation of burnt turmeric (Sample Turmeric A), turmeric mixed with whiting (Sample Turmeric B), and natural turmeric (Sample Turmeric C); determine the appropriate sample treatment to treat nasal congestion in infants; produce innovative products to treat turmeric discoloration on the skin in the use of turmeric. This research is an experiment, a preliminary study in the form of interviews and in-depth observations of the community about the use of turmeric for health that is usually carried out by cultural communities, then analyzed across the fields of STEAM-2C so that comparison results and innovative products are found in the form of Turmeric Stick. It was found that the temperature of the Turmeric A sample was 309.3 K, the B turmeric sample was 305.2 K, and the C turmeric sample was 308.1 K. The comparison of evaporation of turmeric Samples A (95666.49): Sample B (93147.04): Sample C (94925.61) is 1: 1: 1, evaporation of water through the Hertz-Knudsen equation. The conclusion is that variant C is more appropriate for dealing with nasal congestion in infants, and the turmeric innovation product in the form of turmeric sticks is a turmeric packaging solution to overcome the problem of turmeric color that causes scars.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze physics learning based on HOT Laboratory. The research method uses a literature review. Data collection was based on the Scopus, DOAJ, IOP Science, and Google Scholar database sources. The types of documents come from journal articles and conference papers with the keywords "HOT-Laboratory", "HOT-Lab", "Higher order thinking laboratory" and "HOT Lab" from 2015-2021. Based on a search through Harzing's Publish or Perish with these keywords, 957 articles were found. Articles that are eligible and reviewed are 21 articles. The literature review used a procedure adapted from PRISMA. Published documents are checked based on pre-determined content analysis criteria involving a year of publication, author, article source, the topic of practicum material, research subject, HOT Laboratory model innovation. The results showed that the topic of physics material that is often used in research is electricity. The dependent variable that is often used for research on the HOT Laboratory model is critical thinking skills. Other dependent variables used creative thinking skills, problem-solving skills, decision-making skills, collaboration skills, and scientific communication. The HOT Laboratory model is mostly applied to prospective physics teacher students. The HOT real laboratory is a practicum model that is often used in research. The HOT real laboratory provides real experience and laboratory skills for students. The innovation of the HOT Laboratory model was developed into a HOT Virtual Laboratory based on considerations of effectiveness and efficiency, the development of ICT. The e-module-based HOT Laboratory is based on the easy accessibility of e-modules and the development of ICT. The HOT Laboratory model can be applied to material topics related to the student context, and to develop habits of minds.

Abstract

The curriculum continues to develop along with the times. The rapid development of technology requires curriculum adjustments. The domain of knowledge is no longer the only core domain of the curriculum. The domains of skills, character, and meta learning play a role in successful learning. A learning model is needed that is able to activate the four curriculum components. One of them is a collaborative problem solving based learning model. How is this model implemented in science learning? Through this re search, the researcher tries to explore the related research results that have been reported in 5 selected journals.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to present a study of mangrove forest function as a source of zoology learning with a STEM approach. Basically the use of the environment can create something active and effective in the implementation of teaching and learning. Mangrove forest have a variety information related to zoology so that it becomes one way to produce creative learning resources. The presentation of the article is based on 3 aspects, namely (1) Mangrove Forest, (2) Learning Resources, (3) STEM. Literature review or literature study is used as a method of this study, by reviewing scientific journal articles from various reputable publishers. Zoology learning with a STEM approach is one solution in improving the quality of the teaching and learning process, so as to be able to overcome problems that arise from students. STEM is useful for activating student motivation and making students able to think at higher levels. The application of learning involving mangrove forest that have zoological diversity and using the STEM approach can answer obstacles in special zoology learning.

Abstract

Teaching Learning during the Covid-19 pandemic era is carried out by online from home, so the parents’ role is absolutely necessary. This study aims is to analyze the parents role in children's science education at home during the Covid-19 pandemic era. The related science learning is to explain and to communicate efforts of risk reduction and impact of natural disasters. This study uses a qualitative design with a phenomenological approach. The research was carried out on the guardians of students at SMP Negeri 1 Bandungan for the 2020/2021 academic year. The guardians of the students as respondents were divided into three groups, namely group based on educational background, income level, and type of work. Collecting data using interview techniques, questionnaires, documentation, and observation. Data were analyzed by qualitative analysis. The findings of this study as follow. The parents’ with higher education levels and the parents’ with ASN/TNI Polri jobs is the best role plays as learner, partner, teacher, pioneer, role model and family nursing, but the income level of parents’ has no effect on their position as a learner and family nursing. It is Recommended to do further research on children psychological family nursing during the covid-19 pandemic era.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the teacher's perception of learning science with a scientific approach assisted by "selawat science" in learning the solar system for first grade junior high school students. The research subjects consisted of 15 junior high school teachers in Kudus Regency. Quantitative survey method was used to obtain teacher perception data. The results of the study indicate that the scientific approach assisted by scientific research is in accordance with the characteristics of Islamic boarding schools students, develops students' multiple skills, increases learning motivation so that students are more active during the learning process and adds insight to teachers in integrating science and religion. Obstacles felt by teachers include inadequate science laboratory facilities and some teachers have difficulty integrating science and selawat because they do not have a pesantren education background.

Abstract

Students need to master 21st-century skills from primary education to higher education, the aim is to respond to the paradigms and characteristics of 21st-century education. One of the activities to answer the challenges of 21st-century education is the development of learning models. This study aims to analyze the need to develop learning models to improve 21st-century skills for prospective science teacher students. The research method used is an Exploratory Sequential Mixed Methods Design with three stages, while the general procedure for developing learning models uses the ADDIE method (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate). The needs analysis in this research is part of the qualitative exploration stage related to the first stage of data collection, and the second stage is about the draft model development, or in the ADDIE method, it is included in the analysis and design stage. The research subjects were 10 science lecturers, 33 science education students, and 37 science teachers at junior high schools in the Semarang district. The innovative model developed is an Ethnoecological-STEAM project-based learning model (PjBL E-STEAM) with the utilization of water hyacinth to improve 21st-century 4C skills for students as science teachers’ candidates. The results of the needs analysis are the initial product of the model development that will be piloted, namely the syntax of the PjBL E-STEAM model (Learn, Discuss, Perform, Elaborate, Convey, Practice, Evaluate, and Use), the PjBL E-STEAM based Learning Module, and instruments to measure 21st-century 4C skills.
