Abstract

This paper will discuss Imre Lakatos’ thought on research methodology which has been successful to reunite fundamental thought of Popper’s falsification and Kuhn’s paradigm shif and to make both of them being able to be used as scientific method to develop science at once. Exactly, this effort has a great contribution toward developing the philosophy of science because it is not only confirming that developing science should be done collaboratively and sustainably but also offering the method to make it happen. Furthermore, Lakatos’ offer provides “undeniable” assumption called “the hard core” as inseparable part of “scientific building”. This so-called the hard core has made Islamic science, which is based on religion, could be not only developed but also has found its foundation of methodology.

Abstract

Abstract: The process and the scintifc result will depend on their philosophical bases, covering theoretical framework, scientifc paradigm and basic assumption. The three bases become the philosophical base that function to allot framework, direction and scientific colour  that will be produced. The Islamic wordview in the perspective of  the philospy of science basically serves as the theological-methaphisical assumntion or hard core in the scientifc field of the Islamic eduation. It is the special characteristic that makes it different from the secular education. Employing this kind of paradigm, the Islamic education will be able to identify the difference between proselytazing approach from scientific approach.Kata Kunci: pendidikan Islam, filsafat ilmu, teologis metafisis, paradigma

Abstract

The discourse of integration of religion and science could enrich research of al-Qur’an study. As a principal source of Islam, al-Qur’an also becomes object research of the philosophy of science study, especially related to the development of science-based on religion. Within the framework of the philosophy of science, this article presents a study on the possibility to develop science-based on alQur’an, which is called “theistic science”. Although the efforts to find root of science on al-Qur’an develop so far, or to interpret al-Qur’an by utilizing the result of science research, in the framework of the philosophy of science, but it is not surely called a “science theistic”, even so perhaps it is not science, but it may be merely indeed not scientific. There is a pattern of development of science which is based on religion, but it is really scientific, which consists of three layers of philosophical basis, they are theoretical framework, scientific paradigm, and theological basis. By following this pattern carefully, the development of science not only can avoid the pattern of pseudoscience, but it will create science with high scientific value, but it is still within the framework of al-Qur’an. It is organized based on the embryonal concept from al-Qur’an. However, this pattern is a collective project, systemic, and cultural in the form of a grand project.

Abstract

This articledeparts from the assumption that education is actually a scientific activity ,in a sense related to theimplementation,development and dissemination of knowledge. However, in education, study of knowledge and it’ s relation with the educational process remains a neglected area. In the perspective of philosophy of science, contemporary issue to this is the issue of the nature of science and the growth of science. Relation to education, a growing problem then is how the consequences of building science to education. If education means the process of promoting and developing human knowledge, how should the process be done? This article asserts that the concept and praxis of education proved to havea relationship with the scientific problem. Criticism of the nature of science is certainly going to be able to  clarify the pedagogical logic of educational praxis. Theory and methodolog y of education has become a pretty interesting studyin pedagogy. While “educational paradigm” is a philosophical discussion in Philosophy of Education, Sociology and History of Education, actually there is another problem that has not been touched, namely the problem of belief, principles of life, and faith in relation to education.  This problem is referred to as the “Theology of Education, ” a field that examines the values , spirit, and religious aspects as an integral part of education.

Abstract

Husserl has introduced intuitive consciousness in order to see directly the complexity and reality without devise and perspective. In Western thought, Husserl’s view is considered as strange up to the present time. The basic problem of Suhrawardi is similar with Husserl, indeed validity of knowledge, in which the only authority is at the Peripatetic logic. The main characteristics of this scientific model are the truth of syllogism, proposition, concept and problem of definition. This article tries to relate between Husserl’s view on intuitionalism and Suhrawardi’s view on illumination, even still based on preliminary experiment. The unity of Husserl and Suhrawardi seems to be gigantic power. “Intuitionalism under the light of God.” Can be an alternative. On the other hand, it also may be as a solution for the ontological view on reality which nowadays tend to be materialistic and mechanical. The view of this mechanical materialistic factually raises various crises on the modern life. Ontologically, the light of Intuitionalism can be the basis of the development of thought at different aspects of life, such as ethic, esthetic, anthropology, epistemology, etc.

Abstract

This paper examines mode of Islamic thought is developing today ,which was then known as Contemporary Islamic Thought, by searching the role of logic and reasoning behind the idea. Three main issues are addressed: first, the project of contemporary Islamic thought, which is a radical reading of the construction of epistemology of sciences and building of logical basic of traditions, culture and civilization, by taking the authentic (al-ashâlah) and inner structure (bunyah),so that it can be transformed to the present.  Second,the mode of contemporary Islamic thought, related to attitudes toward tradition (turâts) on the one hand and attitudes towards modernity (hadâtsah) on the other. In contrast to the traditional thought that addressing modernity with a priori for conservation,are also different from modern thought that response to the tradition as something that must be eliminated for the sake of progress; Contemporary Islamic thought involved a critical reading of tradition and modernity ,before bringing them within the framework of contemporary challenges. And third,the model of contemporary readings, by indicate methodological tools of scientific work. Hermeneutics, criticism, and deconstruction are three species of readings that be able to break through the scarcity of methodological for reading complexity of culture and problems of humanity in general, which has not been available instrument for that.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has hampered the process of character building and has an impact on the moral decadence of students in schools. The lack of monitoring of the competence of educators in the online system causes a decrease in the character of students. This is due to the lack of exemplary in thinking, ethics, speaking, and acting obtained by students. It is important to instill character education in students so that they have characters based on religious values such as in Islamic boarding schools. This research aims to examine the existence of Islamic boarding schools in implementing character education in the pandemic era with the object Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor (PMDG) for Girls 1 Mantingan Ngawi, East Java. This research is a literature study with the type of research is qualitatively, while the method is descriptive analytic. The results show that PMDG for Girls 1 is able to show its existence in implementing character education even in the pandemic era. This can be seen from the effectiveness of the dormitory system that can support face-to-face learning as an effort to internalize character education in Islamic boarding schools. This can be achieved by applying the discipline health protocol in the Pesantren environment before starting face-to-face learning. In addition, it is also supported by various Pesantren disciplines such as prohibiting students from leaving campus except in very emergency conditions and accompanied by special officers.

Abstract

This article does a thorough investigation into the bases underlying the development of science. This critical investigation starts on scientism view of its objectivism and universalism, and its consequence on the resulted style and model of scientific structure. The critical investigation here is not merely on logical and sociological consequences on development of science, but also on logical mind behind those claims. In more detail, this article shows that development of science in not solely based on scientific logic and epistemology, but also on sociological-historical and anthropological bases. In addition, the recent development indicates the existence of theological basis. As the result, it advocates the view that science is human construction and then cannot be sterile from human elements and factors surrounding the process of science development such as subjectivity, various interests, ideology and beliefs of scientific community. Academically, this article contributes in showing the importance of philosophy of science studies to see critically the way of sciences viewing the reality as the object of study, and to explore its field limits.

Abstract

This article contributes to the analysis of the “madani society” discourse and its development in Indonesia as a form of a struggle and dialectic of intellectual Muslim to interpret Islamic teachings in its relationship to modern life, especially to politics and nationality problems. The Islamic basic concept about the democratic principles such as justice, equality, freedom and deliberation, including the attitudes of tolerance and recognition of human rights actually had been developed well over the Apostles and the Khilafat ‘al-Rashidin political and social life. This Islamic political concept is tried to be reconstructed back by Muslim intellectuals with the idea of madani community. The presence of this discourse in Indonesia seems externally to be affected by the discourse of civil society that had been becoming a global currents of thought since the 1990s, and internally cannot be separated from the condition of the nation at that time, especially the unavailability of public space, besides as the impact of the model static approach developed in the New Order political reality.
